  • Want to know how to remove the stains, black circles, burn marks, and discoloration from around the burners of your stainless steel cooktop or stove top? The solution is Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser! It works great on our Frigidaire Gallery stainless steel gas cook top model FGGC3047QS. I've previously tried degreasers, soaps, and even a steam cleaner... nothing worked. In this video I'll show you my cleaning process and how your cooktop can look close to brand new. Stubborn stains may need a few treatments, but in my experience using the product, it always gets the job done! It's not only effective, but also inexpensive and easy to find in stores.
    Always follow the directions on the label, test in an inconspicuous spot before applying to the entire area to make sure it's safe for use on your surface, and wipe in the direction of the brush marks on the stainless.

    Much appreciation for the spoiler alerts and for the lack of annoying music in the background!

      Thanks for the feedback. Yes, music in the background of videos drives me crazy too so I don't use it. I also realize people's time is valuable so I try to provide all the info upfront. If folks then want to see the entire process they can continue watching. 😃

    Perfect!!! I use Barkeepers on other items but it can be abrasive. This way, no scrubbing, it removes the the stains in a short time... 15-20 mins.

      I love this stuff too. I recently used it to make our stainless steel refrigerator look brand new again. Until recently, I’ve been using ZEP stainless cleaner (oil based citrus cleaner), which couldn’t remove water stains or my oily forehead prints (from checking the freezer for ice cream). Those stains had been there for years so my other half was so happy when they were gone. Ha!

    I have this exact stove and these stains have been driving me CRAZY. Thank you!

    Tried it and multiple other cleaners and combinations. Bar Keeper doesn’t do anything. Zero, zilch. I end up using a straight razor in a glass cleaning holder used to clean paint spots etc. from glass. BUT… since you are such and advocate of this product and PROMISE it will get the stainless clean I will spend two hours attempting it once more. But I do believe there are home remedies seen on Instagram that might actually work with out spending all day attempting to clean the top. And I might add my top is cleaner than 95% of range tops since I stay on top of the maintenance. Cheers!

      I’m sorry it’s not working for you. I’m actually surprised because before the Frigidaire cooktop in the video, we had a GE profile model that came with the house. The GE had been neglected for years and Bar Keepers Friend cleaned it up nicely. As you saw in the video, it also works really well on our Frigidaire Gallery (~3 years old now) and the process is even easier if I don’t wait for months of staining to set/burn in. Bar Keepers Friend hasn’t failed me yet! In fact I recently used it on our Kitchen Aid stainless refrigerator and it removed water stains and greasy fingerprints no other product was able to remove. The fridge looks like new and my other half was very pleased with my results. Good luck!

    Thanks. Just curious why you didn’t lift the gas elements? Also, careful with paper towel, daughter used paper towels on hers ,scratched the top

      The gas elements of this cooktop are not removable. They were on our previous model though.
      Good advice regarding the paper towels. I typically buy Bounty, which is pretty soft, but the generic brand at our local supermarket can be rather coarse.

    I recommend doing each one individually. You shouldn’t let that stuff sit for over a minute or two

      Good point! That is what the label says as well.

    I have a fingerprint resistant gas stove top. Can Barkeeper be used on burn marks around burners?

    • @BruceAlanR
      @BruceAlanR  Před rokem

      I recommend trying it in an inconspicuous place first to be safe (ie, behind one of the back burners… that’s what I did)). Our Frigidaire Gallery cooktop and Microwave and Oven have “smudge proof”stainless, which resists fingerprints and Barkeepers friend worked on them all without issue. I’ve also used Barkeepers friend to get my greasy forehead print and water stains off of our Kitchen Aid stainless fridge… it was the only product that could do the job! All of our stainless appliances look new!

    Any thoughts on why my stove wont ignite

    • @BruceAlanR
      @BruceAlanR  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes! If you remove the burner cover, and look behind the white igniter, there will be a little hole where the gas feeds out from the center of the burner. You likely got some barkeeps friend or food debris in the hole and it’s clogged. Use a safety pin or small piece of wire to clear the hole, put the ceramic burner cap back on and it should work as usual.

    so this doesn't scratch?

    • @BruceAlanR
      @BruceAlanR  Před 11 měsíci

      It didn’t scratch our cooktop, but I recommend testing in a small area first (for example behind a back burner).

    This didn’t work at all on baked elements around the burner on stainless steel

      Wow! I’m really surprised. What’s the brand of your cooktop?
