Today I installed another Air Conditioner. Unfortunately I had to rush at the end because it started to rain. I hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks mate. I have a core hole bit but I don’t use it that often to be honest. I find stitch drilling is less messy as it doesn’t seem to throw the dust around the room as much. You might have a better technique though

Hey Mitch excellent video. What kind of wall plugs do you use for fixing exterior brackets? You use some kind of plastic sleeves instead of regular dynabolts.
Thanks mate. I never used dynabolts. They’re actually designed for concrete slabs (I’m not sure why they come with most brackets). I use Hilti HRD anchors instead which are great. Cheers
The Daikin indoor unit pipe length has caught me out a few times. And why is the small pipe that's easier to bend longer haha if the lengths were reversed it would be so much easier. Great job as usual mate 👍
It’s so frustrating aye. I’ve had to do this that many times that I’ve lost count. Considering changing brands for double brick homes. I agree, why can’t the suction pipe be the longer one haha.
On back to backs I have been making the outside hole quite a bit lower than the inside hole and angled up heavily. Have found that easier to get the bend to keep it in the duct.
Also talking of large outdoor units. Bloody floor consoles have huge o/d units 🤣 haha
@@jonathonwilliams6722 haha dude, the new 7kW Daikin ducted units (standard inverter) are so small they look like a 2.5kW. Couldn’t believe my eyes. 😂
@@maracservices You should cut the flares of and braze the lineset directly on the inside unit, works so much better!
@@MarcelHVAC that’s what I did in this video. The flares would of been inside the wall so I just cut and brazed the pipe. 👍🏻
I notice the outdoor unit is quite close to the outside wall. I have installed 2 x Electriq units on my wall, about 14" away but up on a flat roof like yours. Can I move them closer to the wall?
I drill the holes 62mm with a diamon core drill with vacuum cleaner attached.
That is how you guys should do that too.
I have a core hole bit too but I found stitch drilling it faster and less messy. However I like your idea about attaching a vacuum cleaner. Is it a special core hole bit or do you just hold the vacuum up against the hole you’re drilling? I’m curious.
@@maracservices It is special drill and i sucks vacum thru the core of the drill In my country there is a lot of concrete so we have too use a good drill

Is the 7kw ducted unit a standard or premium? Standard wouldn't overspeed, the split would, maybe they allow for the extra capacity by having a larger unit? Just a thought.
The ducted was actually a Standard unit. I think it’s because the indoor coil is a lot bigger so therefore the outdoor coils don’t have to be as big.
I know that other brands are different. For example the Panasonic 7kW outdoors are way bigger then Daikin but the indoors are smaller. Who knows, I just thought it was weird 😂
Hey Mitch this might sound like a silly question because I’m still learning how to install AC, but what is the main reason for running the drain pipe to the gutter down pipe? Could you just have it come straight out of the unit and straight down say 100mm?
That’s not a stupid question at all mate. I actually prefer running the drain pipe straight down and letting it drip into a garden or something however the reason I ran it to the drain is because I didn’t want it to just drip on top of the shed and create a puddle. However I personally don’t like connecting it straight to a down pipe incase the down pipe gets blocked. So to answer your question, the only reason I run a drain pipe is so it doesn’t create a puddle of water. Thanks

Did you custom bend the outside pipe covers on a brake or is that store bought??
I just cut it on site using tin snips and a combination square mate. So to answer your question, I bend it on site. 👍🏻

GREAT CONTENT , BUT WHY DRILL TO THE WRITE SIDE OF THE INTERIOR UNIT , WOULD BEEN BETTER TO DRILL TO THE LEFT, AND KEEP THE FLARE INSIDE AND NOT SOLDERING NEED IT
Thanks mate. In Australia, you’re not allow to have R32 flares inside the living space because the refrigerant is flammable.
Also how long would it normal take to do a mini split install like this one if your weren’t filming ect?
If it is with a helper. 4 hours. When I’m alone more like 7-8 hours. Back to back I could do much quicker though.
@@maracservices taking me about the same time maybe a bit longer. I Need to get a lifter like you man I like how you mount the condensers up high it looks much more professional and neat.
