Honestly although it's awesome to be able to throw the drone out my favourite changes are those to the HUD i didn't realise how little information you had while in your drone until seeing this.
Literally this! I’ve mained Crypto since forever and I’ve always been talking about better HUD changes. The new changes don’t overcluster the screen and is actually useful information! Lovin the new changes, I’ve started to notice how insanely aggressive I can be with the drone deploying and flying on its own, it’s amazing!

There's only ONE complaint i have of the new drone hud. The mini map is stationary, but things like the next ring will rotate with you. So you'll have weird instances where you see the current rings position, and you spin the drone and the next rings position will spin with it, causing the next ring and the current ring to overlap on the map lol As a Crypto main tho, these changes are SO welcome, but lowering the skill floor for him a tiny bit will def increase his pick rate, causing people to be WAY more ready to shoot a crypto drone lol
Yeah but the drone has like no health now and still a year worth of cooldown so

One useful thing I think was a lovely added touch was teammates and the feed announcing if they broke shields, allowing you to make your decisions whether you push or not.

@@Xgamer-cj9mx In a random squad, it makes quite the difference. I think communicating is still important when you're playing with your squad.
I found that one of the most useful ways to use him is like mirage. Throw the drone when you're leaving cover or pushing someone and they have to decide to either shiot you or the drone. Either they waste ammo or you get free scans
Exactly, in control i always send the drone to scout beyond a corner and if it scans an enemy you can basically prefire the guy without mercy
Not really that useful, especially against good players. Good players wont give a damn about the drone and either way you cant take out your gun again until the drone has basically stopped moving and reached its 20m destination. This renders a surprise peak impossible.

If you hold the tactical button it goes into drone view as soon as its done being thrown with no extra animation

@@Dp12451 Yeah it does take longer cause he still throw the drone out before you get to control it even when you hold unlike before where you directly control the drone.
How did he throw it and make it immediately look back (towards where crypto is)?
Small correction: the old drone HP was 60. It just took 70 to kill because the 301 does 14 damage per bullet, and 56+14=70. You would need something that did some factor of 60 to verify this.
Caustic nerf list since season 0:
- slow effect is removed
- vision disorientation is removed
- damage is decreased
- cooldown is increased
- barrel can be destroyed when it's launched
- now barrel has HP

It would be nice if you put side by side comparisons/timers for the new actions especially the emp, seems significantly slower.
I did notice that going into drone view seemed a fraction slower. However I haven't really played crypto for like 6 seasons.
this rework is alright in certain situations but tbh i feel crypto will still be one of the least used legends and i feel these changes won’t help him as much as ppl hope. ppl bring up it being good when you use your drone as bait saying “they either shoot me or the drone” but with olympus back, third parties happen a lot more often than other maps so using your drone as bait and getting it destroyed would not be the most optimal play. i feel the throw range is just not enough. i know they said they didn’t want to do too much to him to where he’s op but there was a lot of concepts actually made that definitely could’ve benefited him more without it being op. but since it’s still early hoping to see some sick stuff with this change and hope to be able to get the most out of this rework
Crypto can be helpful predicting a 3rd party. He just doesn't fit the fast pace fights of Apex. You need a really good team for him to be viable. I get screamed a lot when my Octane jumpads into a fight and dies without a knock on the enemy team. It's better to have a team that knows when to fight and when not to

Don’t believe it is, but Reddit made that buff a meme because everyone was saying it. For example: someone commented I’ve a cool idea for a crypto buff. Someone else replied to that about that he has an idea for a crypto buff called off the grid and explains a whole bible about what that passive is going to do.
This happened like 20 times on different posts with different people (as far as I’ve seen)
That "off the grid" passive is one of the dumbest ideas, especially for ranked. Crypto wont be scanned but your team will be so people will see that its only a duo and ape your team. Also that means his passive relies on only 3 out of 20 legends using their tactical which is dumb.
2 recons: Seer & Crypto has a 2% pickrate and in pubs bloodhounds dont even use their scans. Also that means Crypto's drone cant scan other cryptos Lmao. Good thing Respawn dont take ideas from the smooth brains at reddit :)

1. If a team tries to be braindead kill hungry streamer wannabes, they'll jump them thinking it's a duo, and they'll be ambushed.
2. Many legends already have the ability to nullify other legends, Watson against fuze, rev against everyone, ash's tactical prevents octane from running and valks from flying, so stopping someone from scanning you isn't far fetched.
3. So what if theirs only 3 legends dedicated to it, fuze can still scan, so can Maggie, and so can mirage (albeit a ping), it's not like it won't have a use, crypto will just be immune to it.
4. They're is litterly nothing wrong with not scanning other cryptos, that just means his passive is working. Seriously, your main complaint with this passive is that you believe not being able to scan a legend is unfair, even though said legend has a low oickrate, isn't mobility, who's tactical can be deactivated (drone destroyed) and to top it all off, it's just one legend, it's not like his whole squad is immune.
Now all he needs is an EMP radius indicator when ult is charged or make him send his drone 30 metres instead of just 22 so its easy to guess the radius of the emp. He needs more quality of life additions like that.
The crypto drone health was 60 not 70 but besides that thanks for trying to inform everyone of the changes and keep up the good work👌🤟
I think they should have added a tiny screen for the drone showing what the crypto is actually seeing so he has some sort of vision when using his drone.

So basically I had an idea where crypto has a passive called "off the grid" basically it makes it so that when crypto gets scanned he doesn't get scanned and it makes it so he isn't seen when he gets scanned. That way when bloodhond and seer scan him he won't get scanned so that they can't see him cause he's "off the grid" it would be balanced cause he normally gets scanned but now he doesn't get scanned cause he's "off the grid" so it would be lore fitting and it would be a good gameplay mechanic and off the grid would be a good idea and they should add it to the game for crypto so that his new passive is called off the grid. I had this idea then everyone started talking about my idea because i came up with off the grid where crypto doesn't get scanned cause in the lore hes off the grid and since hes off the grid he cant be scanned while off the grid

I knew something just felt weird with him , i didnt realize the drone hp was nerf and not being able to detect ppl when its recalling. On top of that the bug where the drone sometimes gets stuck between your body and a wall is still in the game and trying to use the drone manually now feels slower than before (probably cause on top of the slow animation to get in the drone u now have to hold the button for a additional second). I love the small things like a bigger FOV and finally having info like the killfeed and minimap on the drone but overall i feel like this isnt a "buff" but more of a rework. With that in mine I feel like I have play Crypto completely different than then I had to past seasons .

And I have to admit, I have gotten much more deadslides this season and read that many others have this issues too.

They really didn't buff him. By the way you could EMP outside your drone in season 11 as well. They gave him like one buff, one or two quality changes that just should have been there, and like 3 nerfs. Plus I like the old way of holding to throw the drone and tapping to enter. It is so slow now to get into the drone. Go back to tap to enter and hold to throw or add option to change like valkyrie's jets.

try in firing range on the ground where you showed us the punch boosting from very litt differene in height

I'll have to play him more in BR mode, but so far I would say this is definitely not the buff people were asking for and it's barely a buff as is. His drone needs some sort of follow mode other wise he is outclassed by the other recon characters. Even if the follow mode only lasted for 20 seconds and had a cool down. I like the character but he's a chore to use compared to everyone else.
I think the caustic changes make sense. The gas was so annoying (impossible to deal with) and the area that caustic was able to cover was huge.
And we still have to dump half a mag to destroy a trap, so it's not like they're Wattson pylons.

You used to be able to keep the momentum of the drone when ulting and backing off the drone, but now when you ult and back off the drone stops
Honestly, this is a good patch for Crypto! One trick I came up with is to set an EMP trap while on the run. Find some cover, drop the drone, then keep running, and activate the EMP. Your foes might just walk into it! Either your squad can push or you buy yourself time to escape.
The freaking map on drone view is what I really need, before the update I have always switch between drone and character view just for the map
Yesterday I was testing with my friends in firing range and we found out that our drone would be destroyed on its own after using EMP. Not sure if it was a glitch in firing range or whether that would really happen in real game. We couldn't test it out because the server was so bugged out ytd that we couldn't get in a game. But from what I see in this video it seems that it won't destroy itself after using emp.
can you see the squad count in those monitor when drone is thrown or you need to pilot the drone manualy?

The caustic change is not bad at all cuz it takes almost a full mag to destroy one gas trap (or whatever the name is) and u can choose if u want to waste ur bullets on it or just keep them for the caustic himself
They went way too far with the caustic nerf in my opinion. He is not a viable legend if his tactical can be destroyed just like that.
Caustic is dead in high rank lobbies now, holding a building should be done by skill and aiming and tracking instead of barrels that slows + blind enemies. Respawn finally removed this Abusing legend who can hold buildings that required no skill. Why should a Q make u able to hold a building for 11~12 seconds? it was just not fair.

If you can't kill someone while having the advantage of them being stuck in your gas. You're at fault.
And if someone has to make the choice between peeking and shooting one of your gas traps instead of you, and you don't take the advantage of killing them while distracted.

@@tejoadi4349 Never played Cod in my life, played apex since season 0 when u can equip x3 on r99. apex is not just shooting, its positioning and tracking and movement. I am just saying it isn't fair to stall a building for 11 ~ 12 sec especially when you have no counter to it with just a Q, it takes no skill. and if you can't kill a slow blinded enemy who will waste half their mag trying to take 1 barrel out, then u just trash at the game tbh.

as a crypto main is kind of weird to get used to the changes, i was so used to just be in manual mode as soon as i used it now if feels a little weird, but is pretty cool

Whenever I try to actually use the drone, I always throw it out, and then immediately after I click the button I try to hold it back down to get on it but I can't and have to wait for the drone to go all the way before I can control it. At least in the old way, there was quite a bit of time where you could start holding the button to get off the drone, now it weirdly feels more clunky. Still loving the change, just wish it felt more fluid

Something I found out while playing... (dont know if its a new movement tech or not) When climbing a wall, sometimes, if you press jump twice its boosts you up. So you can basically skip the climbing animation.

Anyone else look at this as a Nerf?
-The drone is way louder when deployed and brighter
-It has less HP
-If you move to cover while throwing the drone and move outside of the 25m before it reaches it's location it bugs out and teleports to crypto
-You can no longer have the drone come out on top of yourself which is essential in high tier ranked when you can't just have the drone flying in a straight line.
-every scan legend is 75 meters and cryptos is a measley 25m. There are dozen of locations where you can't even reach the drone to opposite walls of building that your currently in, and if it does reach it bugs out and teleports back to you because you move 2m to the left and went outside of the 25m before it got there..
I can see how lower ranked players are really liking this, but in terms of high rank gameplay this is a huge Nerf to him. Situations where he used to shine he can no longer perform in, and situations where he can perform in now is very limited to the obnoxious sound it makes, less HP, and short range.
It hoenstly shows that the same person who did Watsons buff did his and it's disappointing.

Yes thank you. I think most high lvl Crypto mains have mixed feelings about this rework. Hud and FOV changes are great but some of these nerfs really hurt. That health change was huge imo.

If your last point is true then that's not too bad right ? Crpyro is absolutely meta in comp. But never used by lower tier players. So redistributing the power curve would be a good thing

I dont know why but in the control mode an empty kraber can have 4 more bullets if you nutralise a zone

Ive hated how they made it alot longer to be able to control the drone its awful when trying to use it to push/ escape battles whereas before szn12 you can control it as soon as you threw it

commenting here cuz i dont have a twitter or a reddit, but i just found a little exploit with the PK and its new hop up.
If you immediately stand after sliding, and then ADS with your PK, youll still get the charge up from sliding while walking at ads speed, allowing you to change directions quickly, while charging the PK quickly.
Tbh I laughed at how short a distance you can send a drone. When I was in the firing range I literally said "That's it???'
I'm glad people like the changed. I don't think it changed him much at all. If anything,
I just had a crazy idea that maybe you can test. Thematic packs will guerenteed give you a cosmetic of that legend, but theres a chance to get heirloom shards as well. So in that case, if you own every item for a legend, and open their thematic pack, will you get shards? And, can you do this multiple times, because this could be an insane new heirloom glitch. Spread the word and tell people to try this.
The changes make him alot more close range viable and more useful in fights. They kinda feel off too tho, like the gameloop has changed somewhat. I feel myself not as forced to use snipers and stuff (which is probably good), but I don't feel like like you have to be AS calculated like you were forced to (cuz he was lowkey kinda bad before).

Im a crypto main here and i found a new passive ability to crypto on br. He can scan enemy squads while dropping from the drop ship similar to valkyrie, but its not exactly like valkyrie that can highlight scan while dropping. When you look at your map you can see how many squads are near you, but it differs from valk because its like a submarine sonar. Unlike valk when you look into your map it stays where it was scanned. But on crypto, it moves. I dont know if its only on drop or can still be used when you use the jump tower. But hey, we have a "existing" crypto passive XD
They added that for everyone this patch. Crypto still doesn't have his own passive.

Why can't we just ping where we want the drone to go? They gave it the ability to throw but it feels off if u want to move it elsewhere. Having to spam recall to throw it again sucks. Also it feels like it takes longer to get into the drone to actually go where u want to go with it.
As an ex Crypto main I'm back to playing him and I'm enjoying the changes. I still think the best use of the drone is manual, especially for EMP, but it is nice to be able to throw it around in fights for quick scans. I don't love the drone deploy animation though, it's quite clunky and I think they need to give him a new one, though with how game dev works I doubt they can do it... The drone HP nerf is also bizarre to me especially without reducing the cooldown. Other than that, the HUD changes and FoV are amazing. I still think he needs a proper passive to be viable for casuals, though. He's still nothing without the drone.

As a crypto main that change didn’t help much. Before I would just accidentally press the button then go in to drone view then die. Now it is “Let me use the dron aghhhh”

Dron summoning animation still bugged, still can't ping stuff from drone while in trident. New summoning is annoying, drone keep hitting into things and flip camera...
With the new changes I was able to drop a 20 bomb in control! Ik it's not BR but he's really fun now!

Punch standing crouch while in standing punch animation look side ways real fast and hold sideways and it be a punch boost credits me
I personally think the caustic change is good having invincible barrels that just stay there is dumb and it never really made sense to me why a gas barrel was invincible and it also makes it easier to actually get into buildings without a fucking immovable object in your way BUT that being said I do feel his gas should be stronger to make up for the lack of obstacle it should definitely be a challenge to get into a caustic building but it shouldn’t completely prevent you from getting in it
cause his gas isn’t actually that scary it does make you weaker but it should definitely be stronger in either dmg or slow factor to punish you for trying to get in especially saying as how caustic players now need to actually think where they should place their traps
A dmg buff to the gas could definitely be nice for caustic imo
As for crypto I think it’s a step in the right direction just needs a couple tweaks here and there

- Having the drone be silent or at least make a lot less noise when not moving
- and a longer throw range then 23 meters lol
Idk taking constant damage, blocking up your vision, Caustic being able to see you perfectly through the gas, and being slowed make it nigh impossible to win duels in their area. Caustic got nerfed for a good reason, and buffing the damage on it will 100% make him busted.
As for Crypto I do like the idea of reducing the cooldown, since you become totally useless once your drone bites it, but being wallhacked by a Crypto is insanely powerful. The noise is there specifically so you can find it or know that it's nearby.
