Beautiful playing pro, I agree the special 22’s do have a very nice organic tone than the 513. I’ve always thought the 513 was a little more Hi-Fi tonally but you can get amps dial in just right and they’re fantastic as well imo.
Loved the demo! Thanks for sharing sir!

Thank you. I was never too into the 513, I liked the 509 better though, but I prefer this semi hollow ltd. I actually ended up buying this exact guitar in the video a year after I made this clip. I really love it. Just super versatile and great for jazz too.I think the sounds in this video(especially the clean neck pickup) didn't fully represent the guitar. I was plugged into an amp that I wasn't crazy about(forget what it was). It sounds great through the Quilters and Fender tube amps I normally use. PRS turned this guitar into a regular production model now which is great. I wouldn't hesitate getting one. I think along with the 594's it is the best current production model from PRS.

@@76Soco I agree, I’d love to have another new one since they put the low turn 58/15’s in them. I’d really like to try out the reintroduced studios as well. Big fan of the narrowfields and the 58/15 humbucker.

Nice to hear you ended up with that exact guitar!

    Excellent, tasteful playing!!
How does it sound through the Soldano? I’m curious how those pickups handle more “modern” tones.

Thank you! I have actually never played through that Soldano amp. This video was recorder at CR Guitars and it's the owner, Craig Snyder(pro player) who own that amp. He usually have me play through a Benson, Carr, Fender Princeton or in this case a Henriksen Hybrid amp. Next time I go up there I might see if I can try that amp, they are supposed to be legendary.

I already have a PRS core 24, a CE 24, and an SE 245. How does this compare? Is the added pickup and switching really worth it...or does it seem more like the same? Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I just saw the comment now. I actually just bought the guitar this week. I also have an old CE24 and a Hollowbody Spruce. PRS really nailed it with this model, it is based on the Custom 22 which I have always liked. The middle pickup adds so many different sounds and there are so many combinations. I like it a lot better than the 509 and 513, it sounds warmer and more organic than those. I think this and the 594's are the best core models from PRS in a very long time, maybe ever. The build quality and finish has gotten even better the last few years I think with PRS(of course they were always really good.

@@76Soco thanks for the reply! Crap... I sold my last core 24 with 85/15 pickups and just bought another core 24 with 59/09 before reading your comments. Maybe I would have but the bullet and bought the special 22 with the middle pickup.... though it was going to cost about $1k more for the 22... so it was quite a price gap... but I'm sure the sound of your 22 special is epic!

Lovely playing and a lovely guitar. How do you like the pattern neck on this model? Too thick? Or just right?

    • @76Soco

Thank you. I like the neck on this one a lot, I don’t think it is too think, it feels just right I think.
