Ratio and Aventurine are both isolated by volition.
Ratio's own volition curses him to a life of solitude, with the ordinary seeing him as a genius, while the geniuses see him as ordinary. He'll never be more than mediocre. Someone that could've, but didn't. And no matter how much his willpower makes him push harder, never giving up on the belief that he could potentially accomplish his dreams and find self-satisfaction. His efforts are worthless in the eyes of the Aeons. Nothing he will ever hope to accomplish with his passion that burns like the sun will scorch away that lingering doubt. He will never be okay with himself. It's in a scholar's nature to doubt after all.
The volition of other forces curses Aventurine to a life of solitude. From the Katicans that ravaged his family and race, to the master that enslaved him and burnt into his skin a permanent reminder that he will *never* be freed from the role of someone to be used, to the Sigonian council that ousted both his clan and the Katicans to the desert, leaving his people to be massacred like sheep, and lastly, the IPC that had the ability to prevent everything, but lacked the volition to do so, and now keep him in golden shackles. Not even his best abilities are formed from his own volition. His good fortune? A blessing from Mother Gaiathra. His looks? Complete luck. Circumstances out of his control will forever isolate him, leaving him the sole, undeserving survivor.
One was loved dearly but lost everyone, now being treated as not human, but a chip on the table to be bet by the organization. The other was surrounded by people all his life but never loved, treated more as a spectacle to be revered than an actual human being. In a way, they're both dehumanized by society.

I just noticed another parallel between the two. Aventurine is god’s favourite (“blessed” by “Gaiathra Triclops”) and Veritas Ratio no matter how hard he tried, could never get Nous to cast THEIR gaze upon him
also, aventurine never asked for it but veritas asks (or asked?) for it desperately.

@@caroline9313 I'm pretty sure he still does, he just conceals that fact. When you max him out, he mentions Nous, saying that if THEY don't acknowledge him now, it's likely they never will. That implies that he's still waiting, somehow.

I love the parallels between Aven's life and Ratio's lives. Aven becoming isolated from everyone he loves after they died, then growing up to becoming a reckless gambler with little regards for his life meanwhile, Ratio becoming outcasted because no one can understand/keep up with him, then growing up to become a doctor who values the importance of his existence and others.
An animatic of these two from you is an absolutely wonderful surprise. I am sure that I will rewatch this at least 10 more times because your art is breathtaking.
The softness and tenderness with which you portray everything is admirable.
Also the moments you chose for the juxtapositions is just, AHHH
The composition of Ratio in a bath/Rinie in trash was my personal favourite. And the little peacock and owl doodle? Adorable I say!

not only is this animatic beautiful and evocative, your technical skills are so insane. the shot of their hands at 0:46 actually made me gasp bc of the attention to detail in the shading, the shape of their knuckles, etc. i’m v jealous of your ability to draw such perfect frames and convey so much depth of emotion!! the bridge especially made such great use of the backgrounds and got me in the heart 🥹

This really may well be the best Aventurine/Ratio animatic there is on YT. The portrayal of their relationship was so simple yet comprehensive. I didn't expect this song but it's crazy how well it fits them

Oh my god I love this song. This animatic is gonna haunt me in a good way, you know?
I noticed how in the beginning it shows small Aventurine. And urghhh the it was such a good transition to the song having more beats. Showing his sister walking by and patting Aventurine to both only turning into black smog, then they disappeared. Though I think there is reason. It shows that Aventurine lost his innocence and only family. Or I’m just overthinking and it’s a simple transition.
I love the contrast between Ratio’s and Aventurine’s life?? It’s like polar opposites but now they are like super influential. It also shows how they are and how they kinda act you know?
The “unfulfilled relationship” between those two with longing eyes. It’s funny. They both can read other people’s real intentions but either purposefully ignoring their wants or genuinely can’t read each other. Or maybe, they can’t because of the situation. Which does make sense because Aventurine wants revenge on a certain person in the strategy team. They want each other but won’t act on it.
They know they can depend on each other, but they would both yearn for more.
Words cannot describe how happy this video made me, so I will dissect the video down with the best knowledge. Also literally banger, I started breakdancing.
Edit: I NOTICED THE CONTRAST WITH THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO AND AT THE END?? Same verses but DRASTIC LIVING CONDITIONS. Little Aventurine had poor living conditions but was free and not busy. Current Aventurine is in a working condition but dresses more lavishly. It’s like the best way to live is slaving your time away in work

im so insane about them. the fact that they mirror each other so well. Aventurine has been blessed by a God, the Gaiathra Triclops. Ratio has dedicated his life to research and yet he can't seem to get a gaze from Nous. Aventurine loves his family and everything he does has him thinking of his family and it tortures him inside as he's within the IPC, an organization responsible for the death of his people and his family. Ratio has nothing mentioning his parents and his life is ruled by research and whether he'll get a gaze from Nous.
And so many things, ugh i love this. they're soooo narrative foils
