- I recently spent a week hunting black bears in northern BC and wanted to share the adventure I had. Jeff from Primitive Outfitting was kind enough to let me stay at his lodge while I hunted so wanted to give him a shout out and let you guys know if you're ever looking for a bear or moose hunt in northern BC I highly recommend his outfit. Loved you dialogue about it being too easy with the rifle vs the bow. I had that same feeling this year but then I think we have to remind ourselves that the success rate of most hunters is 10% or less. The area I hunted bear this year was 4% success rate and I was fortunate enough to get a beautiful bear with my bow. Great video.
Thanks man! I think another thing to consider is that hunting is a mgmt tool and they’re expecting more bears to get put down than bows would be capable of alone. So I do believe rifle hunting bears is a necessity. I’ve even thought I’d shoot a meat bear with my rifle and then use my second tag for a more challenging hunt.
I like the equate these feeling to what old school warriors might of felt going against another great warrior. I like to think they wouldn't try to catch their opponent of guard and kill them in their sleep, but instead fight them on an even playing field and have victory over an opponent who is at their best. Not at all saying that using a rifle would of been taking the easy way out (still got a lethal shot to make) but I consider those mature big game animals to be kings of the mountain. They've lived years through intense conditions surviving all of it, sometimes it doesn't feel right to catch such an elusive beast off guard so easily. Congrats on the nice boar! great video wish you could have caught back up with that bear you hit. Great patience not shooting him when he came back out knowing that your gun was probably off and a chance at another off shot. looking at your videos in both the us and bc just curious are you a canadian hunter or US.
Yeah I'm still dreaming of that white blaze man. I hope to head back up next year and turn him up again. I'm also glad I didn't rush the next shot. I am indeed a canadian resident but I do a ton of hunting in the states. It's actually way easier as a Canadian for me to hunt down in the states than it is to hunt other provinces here at home. Which is ridiculous if you ask me.

Good stuff👍 I hope you find a spot where you can get your daughter out of the city, somewhere she can be a kid and be away from all the nonsense. Thats why we left Vancouver Island and moved to Haida Gwaii. Give our daughter more freedom to be a kid, eat real food and wild playgrounds everywhere!

I’ve given up guns...long ago for the same reasoning. (Pure hunting!) And as for “drawing blood”....punch your tag. Knowing you got one good chance...you pay attention to a whole lot more details of preparation. Just saying.
Yeah I think that’s a fair perspective. We also get two black bear tags here so it’s pretty clear they’re trying to know down the population. I agree whole heartedly with you’re sentiment regarding paying more attention though.
Was into it, but too much gratuitous foul language. Take it out, you will not lose viewers, and better for kids. etc. Shame to sprinkle bad stuff, in a very good and exciting story.
