I read the title wrong...I came here for ancient pickup lines😂
Shellnanigans i-
Same XD
Why are paleontologist into older women? They're used to dating fossils.
I really dig you.
I have a bone I'd like you to date.
Have you tried this new carbon dating website for archeologists?
I usually _date_ mummies but you seem cool.
I'm the best archeologist around and my career is in _ruins_
🤣 🤣 🤣 Me too
I’m glad to see we’re all sharing the same braincell
We're all together in our loneliness.
Mom said it's my turn with the brain cell
And here I thought I finally found the solution scientists never wanted us to know about!
Communism
This video's title: *exists*
Everyone: *thinking of a clever joke about dating*
You: still following the same CZcams comments joke format from 2015
Certainly, no clever jokes here, people. Move along.
Aw man, I'm not clever at all apparently!
(But for the record, bring it a nice fossil, its an archaeological sites best friend)
Is low hanging fruit though
Why think about a joke when you can date me
that's me exactly. I don't know if it's comforting or disturbing that we all think so much alike.
I was very confused when I saw the title, then I realized that this wasn’t a video on how to go out to dinner with an archaeological site
I am so single that even an archaelogical site wouldnt want to date me XD
Stay persistent, if you stick around you're bound to break resistance.
"What if the thing you wanted to date didn't have any carbon in it?"
Relatable
Dating a Vulcan, eh?
Peter Wilson Vulcan’s aren’t supposed to be non-carbon-based people are they? That’s just silly.
Ah yes, all the weaboos thirsting for Hatsune Miku
Just photons, am I right!?
Latex has carbon in it don’t be silly
I would love to date Archeological Site-chan
Archeological site-chan: I love Emilia
then turns out she's a Tsundere
"Mom, how did you and Dad meet?"
"Radioactive dating."
Did it result in a random mutation?
Are they from Chernobyl
Lool
Finally, I now know how to engage an archeological dig site into. Long lasting loving relationship!
Flexing would probably impress it enough to get you a first date.
Muscle Hank! Long time no see!
I’m just here to make sure I didn’t misread the title, proceed
Instructions unclear: my love life is in ruins!
Out of all the comments making the same joke, this is the best.
Most underrated comment here
lol, excellent comment! 👌
I see what you did there.
Well done
thanks scishow I’ve always had a crush on my archeological site
I’m glad this whole comment section is just the same joke
they started it
Click-bait. I'm sorry.
@@jcehlert virtual dating leads to click-bate
I don't doubt for a second that they worded the title that way to encourage us. It's too easy. I couldn't resist. I had the joke in my head the INSTANT I read the push notification.
@@nasuh_won Yeah but I don't date. Strange.
That title can be interpreted two different ways...
same. I had a clever joke all lined up then checked the comments to make sure it hadn't already been thought of.....
taking objectophilia to a hole new level. 😁
"What if the thing you want to date never had any carbon to begin with?"
I see you've met my silicon life form girlfriend.
"Just because she's a real doll doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings DAD"
Method one: become friends first.
Method 2 involves a flat tire on a deserted road
Instant friend zone
Dinner date?
And then the box of chocolates😊
idk man i’ve been more successful just asking them out, u avoid the friendzone
OK it's 11 pm here, but still, it took me 2 secs to realize this was NOT about romantic dating archeological sites.
My brain cannot compute that it is 530pm here and 11pm somewhere else haha. I've traveled to far away time zones and I still can't imagine it
@@ameliasprague1991 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_zone now's your chance kiddo!😃
Thanks for the tips scishow. I have a date later and this will surely teach me some good moves to win her over!
Unfortunately, I don’t think my parents would approve this relationship.
Yeah, wide age gaps can make dating tricky.
@@NotHPotter damn, you two beat me to it
I support you
Instructions unclear: In a serious relationship with 3000 year old buried city
"Hey baby, I'm really digging you."
I'll see myself out now...
This line is actually rock solid
But it's not the foundation of a good relationship.
I saw the title and I was like “Ooh. Oooh! I got a joke.”
Then I got to the comment section 😩
XD
maybe i'm just self conscious but sometimes i feel like the archaeological site doesn't even think i'm cute
might take me a minute to work up enough confidence to ask it out
Buy it roses
I tried, my best friend even said "you Ottoman", but she was Chalcolithic and I'm Epipaleolithic. It'll never work out.
Flowers and chocolate; the old tried-and-true way to gain access to restricted catacombs.
Yeah, as for dating advice, don't call your girlfriend an archeological site
Condition: Well used
Ancient
She doesn't dig it then?
These comments 😂
everyone joking about the title when the real gem was the line about relative dating - i heard its a very commen technique in the more rual parts of the US
😂
Bruh
Normal people: dating women
Me: dating anime girls in my mind
Scientists: dating an archaeological site
How-to on dating an Archaeology site: Step 1. Buy it dinner. 2. Dessert if room. 3.??? 4. Profit.
Ehhh, I think I'll just stick to match.com and dating people for now...
@@zacharyhaber1828 I subscribed, thanks!
*insert joke about going out with an archeological site*
Edit: the word "Argon" just gave me flashback to the story of Jason and the Argonots.. please tell me I'm not the only one 😶😶
I thought of Aragorn first.
Argonauts.
@@alephkasai9384 the source I checked spelled it with an 'o' instead of 'au'
"Relative dating"
Uhh...
*insert Alabama joke here*
Isthe "uhh" to be read with a hip thrust and a wink?
I died inside when i realised that this video is about time categorising and not about increasing my dating chances
I’m dating this one older archeological site (ancient even, they don’t like it when I call them that tho) but I feel like they’ve only been ghosting me recently
Just last night, I was wondering how scientists did carbon dating of an archeological site, and heres the presentation ready. A big thanks to Scishow! This is much much better than Googling.
Archeologist dating techniques: I honestly thought I'd meet you in a museum... Cause you're a national treasure!
Woah ... well, that does explain a lot ...
Was gonna make a dating joke, but I see I wasn't the only one who thought the same thing. lol
I must be one of the few people that didn't see that joke coming at all until I went to comments and was confused why everyone was talking about dating jokes.
Guys, never let Argon escape when you're on a date. It will mess you up. 👍
Great! Now, can the next video be 4 ways to date a person?
Totally thought from the thumbnail that this was techniques of social dating discovered from archeological findings.
I want to see that video
Me too
Am I the only one who expected advice by some pharaoh how to pick up girls?
Based on the comments so far, no not even close. In fact I'd say you had a similar thought to 98% of commenters.
SciShow: **Dates an archeological site.**
MinuteEarth dating a planet: **Hold my beer.**
You gotta take it out for dinner and show them around town with sightseeing. Of course you gotta end it with watching documentaries on Curiosity Stream
This video doesn't really give credit to how important seriation is in archaeology. Relative dating gained by the method is used to date 95% of all sites.
That was a pretty job of explaining dating in a 12 minute format, keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing the strengths and weaknesses of each of these.
This video is timely. I just finished watching a livestream in which someone claimed that the universe is less than 12,000 years old because some comets cannot last 12,000 years, all comets were present at the creation of the universe, and there is no source to replenish them.
Really great content!
Posted 4 minutes ago and already 2 thumbs down? Y'all just salty or petty. Lol
Or creationists. 😂
Definitely members of the "Earth is only 6000 years old" Idiocracy
They expected dating advice. :D
They got turned down.
Step 1: Approach Archaeological Site with confidence and respectfully greet them
Step 2: Pay attention to details and ask questions
Step 3: If things go well, let them know you would love to meet again to dig a little deeper into their past.
Step 4: Document EVERYTHING!
Thanks to this video i got a date with an archaeological site
thank you, sci-show crew, for this most fascinating brain dump. Olivia's presentation skills have grown since she started and she's always enjoyable to listen/watch
I had a long frustrating conversation with a new earther who didn’t understand the basic concept of radiometric dating the other day. He thought that carbon dating was used for like dinosaur times... and that it was like burning a candle. That the decay started on one end and burned through to the other. Epic face palm. Couldn’t understand what a ratio was or how alpha decay worked so I stopped responding.

Sounds about right. It’s amazing how many people are absolutely sure they know all about something but have never learned the first thing about the subject. Dunning-Kruger seems to be extremely common today; must be the effect of the internet.
Every time I hear the word 'Strata' my existential dread goes through the roof.
*Tekeli-li! Tekeli-li!*
"- Tindale, come here buddy ! Who's a good doggo, who's a good doggo, yeah good doggy !
- Wahouf !
- Yeah I know you're hungry, but this one isn't ripe yet, go play with a shoggoth.

"
I legit thought this title said "4 ways to date an archaeologist", I was legit excited.
(Edit) oh good everyone else thought the same thing.
Ah sweet, as a archaeologist I like seeing Sci Show make videos about anth and arch! Thanks for the video to help explain concepts.
like everybody else, I was also hoping for some sweet tips on romantically dating archaeological sites
Nice to see Olivia back
I came for the archeologists' mating strategies.
I stayed for the science.
Who'd sign a petition to scishow to give us an episode on ancient human dating techniques? 😂
Thanks... I really needed this information for my playlist.
And I'm not being sarcastic,.. this time!!!
I've only ever dated silicon. Thanks for the advice in advance!
Surprised you didn't talk about that method where you heat up the clay pots since they have phosphorescence or something in them, you can tell how long ago a pot was fired by how much light they let off when heated. More light = more recent
I can listen to Olivia explain anything all day.
I was looking for dating advice and this vid helped, my BF is apparently around 20 years old
I can’t wait to try out these dating techniques
HAHAHA At first glance I thought the title read, "Ways to date ON an archaeological site".
The wasp nest bit is so clever
When I want to date an archeological site, I buy a bouquet of roses and ask nicely.
Yes please...
Would love a date with an archeological site 😅😅
Instructions unclear. I brought an amphora to my house for movie night and now I am banned from all museums.
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who misread the title the first time
Glorious title indded
thanks! How come CERN can see fundamental building blocks but we can't tell when a stone was cut.. I get that those are different problems, but is anyone working on new ways of dating things like stone?
I was confused about why + and - signs were shown aligning during the ESR dating section. If it relies on magnetic alignment, shouldn't N and S-poles be shown?
What I don´t get, when you calculate the c14 back to date it. How do you know how much c14 was in the object when it was created to analyse how old it is?
How to date an archeological site? bring champagne and a picnic basket
With pottery you can heat it up and then based off of how much light it gives off you can get a estimate on when it was first fired or last fired
Take the archaeological site to dinner, take it to a movie, take it out for drinks, have a picnic with the archeological site in the valley of kings. There: 4 ways to date an archaeological site.
It is glorious how many of us spent ten and a half minutes learning neat science
while at the SAME TIME
making ridiculously silly jokes playing on the word "date"
Ah, I love you all
Maybe we should make a case for renaming the process of approximating the age of artifacts and sites from the far past. Having to say "I'm dating archaeological sites" is a little like adding insult to injury when you're a solitaire bookwormy nerd who sometimes forget to eat and sleep.
I could use some of these. I don't know when was the last time i had a date.
You know I thought this video was gonna be pickup artist tips from the Bronze Age lmao.
The thumbnail made me think this video was about dating in ancient times. I have zero game so I was excited to learn some tried and true tips. Oh well...
Don't forget to compliment her on how well preserved she looks despite her age.
I don't even know why I thought this was a dating video from a science channel....SciShow explain the science on why we all thought this was a dating video
The highly anticipated sequel to "4 ways to Date an Archaeologist".
Clever
@@MrFilipang I can't tell if you're being serious or not but I'll assume this is revenge sarcasm. Oooh, my favourite kind!!
Very interesting
sorry i couldn't hear anything, i was trying to see what the tattoo was of. Flag? Box? Some chemistry thing?
OMG i just had my Anthropology exam & all this dating was in it!
We talked about archaeological dating but seriation is new to me 😲. I didn't know that technique had a name.
This was not the kind of date I had in mind. I was more interested in what kind of restaurants I should take the archaeological site to. Do they like pizza? Or should I go for something more posh?
finally can put my night in the museum fantasy to rest
Yeah, Relative Dating!😂😂😂
Was here just to know Radiocarbon daring better, along with some dating jokes, but this sh*t got me bad dude😂😂
I thought it said four ways to date an archaeologist. I clicked as fast as possible. 😃🖖💕
thank you for the video, i finally found my first date
Watch Disney+ and chill, that's how you win her
The best way to date an archaeological digging site is to just ask the archaeologist when they started digging
Love at first site.
Really good video.. Probably should discuss amino acid racemization and luminescence rather than stratigraphy.. As far as I know, age dating is more related to "quantitative" measurement to describe stratigraphy..
