  • Naoya Inoue, the 2023 Fighter of the Year, might stay at 122 lbs for his next defense against Sam Goodman, despite speculations about moving up.
At 31, the boxing community debates whether it's wise for Inoue to shift weight classes, considering potential risks and the pressure to continue proving his greatness. His possible future rival could be Junto Nakatani, creating an exciting matchup. Inoue’s legacy remains strong, with discussions on whether he needs a major fight in the US to cement his global status.

Tim doesn't know that Beyonce, a famous black woman in America, travels by public transportation train in Japan. Beyonce is a superstar in USA. But nobody cares about her in Japan. She travels by public train. Inoue is a superstar in Japan. But he doesn't have to be a superstar in USA. By the way, why do Americans want Inoue to go up to 126? He started at 108. He has already moved across 5 weight classes. Why not ask Usyk, Bud, Tank, Haney, Canelo, Bivol, Loma to move up 5 weight classes? Pacman has been champion in six weight division. But he has never been an undisputed champion in even one division. Inoue is the undisputed champion in two weight divisions. And he KO'd all of his opponent's champions. This is a 100% undisputed feat. Bud has a decision win. Casual boxing fans have no idea how difficult KOs are. Inoue has won 22 straight world title fights, a KO rate of 95%.

Its not a question whether or not Inoue will move up to featherweight or fight in the US again. Inoue's approach to boxing is that he need to clean out all the top fighters before moving up weight. What fans love about Inoue is that he doesn't duck. He fights all the top fighters in his weight division and Sam Goodman is the only remaining boxer left at 122. Inoue moving up to featherweight next year is a guarantee. Knowing that Bob Arum, Top Rank and many folks in America (media, fans and critics) want him to come back and fight in the US, I feel confident that the monster debut at featherweight will be in America. The thing about America is that boxers don't sell out NFL stadium type of seating like Inoue does and that could hurt revenue wise for Inoue and his opponent. However, i'm projecting that Shu Shu will land a world title by the time Inoue moves up to featherweight. Bob Arum and Top Rank will most likely make that fight a PPV event. Inoue coming back to America and fighting on a PPV card would probably exceed $100M+ in revenue for that event alone. If we have fans from all over the world waking up at 2am-7am just to see Inoue fight on ESPN+ ($10-$15 monthly subscription), imagine how much money they will get on a PPV event. Just my bold prediction. Adding Top Rank knockout artists like Artur Beterbiev, Jared Anderson and Christian Mbilli on that card would be fireworks. Edgar Berlanga vs Christian Mbilli, Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol, Jared Anderson vs Anthony Joshua and Naoya Inoue vs Shu Shu Carrington all on one card. That's a fight card only meant for knockout artists.

I also think that there's one more thing Inoue cares about & its his legacy as a boxer wich could attract him to America at 122 or 126 He's already worlwide & a all of fame but if he comes to America i don't think it will be for the money specificaly but more about puting another exclamation point to his legacy
Whatever he does i'll be watching his next fights i just can't get enough of him so much so that i keep rewatching his fights & analysis or comments on his fights

Inoue did go to that last fight to look at 126 shu shu. Inoue is eyeing 126 and greatness there. He’ll look at 130 depending on what he does at 126.

It's bullshit really to want to dictate where and when should Inoue move to 5th division and even stupid is the fact that most of their so-called big stars can't even fill up arenas in America yet they want someone who fills arenas over and over again to come to America. If Americans want to see Inoue then they should go to Japan to watch him or buy Pay Per View for fuck sake

I read tank walked around weighing 150. And he weighed over 135 against ryan. 140 could easily be his real fight weight even if he can’t get taller. He just won’t face real challenges as is seen by his avoidances of the who’s who he refused to fight. Tank’s only belt arrived via the same email he laughed at haney for. And now he’s still fighting the up-and-comers instead of the elites who challenged him. I don’t care how much money he made, that’s good for him not me. But don’t call yourself great, refusing to fight the gary russells, the lomas, the haneys, the teos, and maybe the shakur’s too. Tank has the power, and everyone says he has great skills, i just don’t see it. He sets traps and waits. Tank has the speed to spring the trap for sure, but what does he do when an opponent is not stupid. A smart fighter won’t offer his chin like ryan did, like rollie did, etc.. Tank is short no doubt, but so was mike tyson. I don’t need to see tank get knocked down, i do need to see him fight the best …that’s what boxing is supposed to be about.

He doesn’t need to, but it is a shame that it would give him more recognition if he moved up in weights. Hardcores know, but to truly be embedded in boxing history, you need the casual fan. Ask any casual, who’s the greatest boxer of all time? And they will throw out Ali or Tyson because they’re the most recognised names when we all know ,that, in terms of hit and not get hit, along with a great resume, Floyd is the greatest boxer so far. And please don’t give me the ish of “he didn’t fight someone when he was supposed to” look at the people he fought before or after he fought them. A lot of world class fighters on that resume and fought them at a respectable time. He and Manny were around the same age when they fought too, so cut that off. Pretty Boy Floyd is one of the greatest boxers I’ve ever seen.
