Superb!
this is how it was when my ex brought me to a famliy gathering for the first time and i know they still ask about me
Esta série é maravilhosa!
Qual o nome?
Love how he's just basking in the glory of the Papacy
I think they should bring this tradition back, the last time it was used was during the tenure of pope pius.
LMAO! I feel like I'm watching Caesar's coronation!
And you would be right. The Popes are not descended from Peter but from the Caesars. Roman Catholicism is the continuation of the Roman Empire. It is no more Christian than Islam.

O God! Give us such a Pope!
As a catholic i thought this show was just mockering, but it actually helped me to develop my faith.
how everyone treats you when you bring gum to school
He's like Pope Pius XII?!?!?!
the overhead camera shot no doubt indicates God looking down with approval
Hmmmm...
My typical day at work is a little different.
I don't understand why people are fighting over a tv show..
what's the music? anybody knows?
It's song for Athene by john tavener
asd2we Song for Athene by John Tavener. It was an instant hit when it was played as the recessional at Princess Diana's funeral. The words are from Hamlet. The music is typical of a Greek Orthodox chant. Check out Wikepedia and other videos to hear the piece sung by Anglican choirs.
Being Orthodox, I find it interesting that an Orthodox composer represents Catholic tradition. I knew a priest who taught Religion at a Catholic school in the 1970's simply because he was the most "Catholic" teacher, not withstanding differences on Papal infallibility and such.

I am the walrus offering gifts to unsuspecting children because that's why it's there.
Just a small glance of Christ the King Glory. That is all.
The music reminds me of the Heroes Guild in Fable
What a divine sense of balance!
Papież, jakiego potrzebujemy.
papaj
Przecież to nie był żaden Papież. Przebieraniec.
co ty pieprzysz?
he's on a power high :)
Reminds me of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood video for "Relax".
this is how the vicar of Christ should be treated.
Did you forget how a woman gave Christ the most expensive perfume? did you remember that Jesus was buried in the property of one of the richest man in Jerusalem? Did you forget that when Jesus was a baby recived gold gifts? Did you forget that the body o Christ when was embalsamed received the most valuables species? The pope does not represent the carpenter of Nazareth but Chirst resurected.
More Protestant drivel. The Catholic Church has always taught that Christ is the Only Way throughout the ages. I recommend picking up a history book and read about the Christendom's history m8
This is how the vicar of Satan would like to be treated !
Demadestro
You could hardly be more irrelevant!
It is true that Christ never pretended to be miserable .
All the facts that you mentioned (precious gifts after His Birth, perfumes before and after His burial etc)
have a deep symbolic and theological meaning and were done spontaneously by others.
In this ceremony all we have is an orgy of papal arrogance
Rhaegar Targaryen Vatican 2 didn't change the teachings. If you want to understand what the church teaches, stay far away from this show.
Pope entrances used to be like this 😔
How did they even create that set? Is it an actual replica of the Sistine chapel they put together or just another chapel out of use? Its very impressive.
I watched a behind the scenes video about this. They built a replica of the Sistine Chapel!
@@ambeckerful Incredible.
I love this show. :)

Pius xii's movements...paul vi's tiara....strange outfit though....nobody has used anything same as that although benedict xvi's capes would be as close.

This is a very spectacular wonderful male show that has already forgotten what Jesus left us
Throughout this entire series, the young pope really needed a punch in the mouth. He was so totally in love with himself and walked around with a "Who the hell are you?" attitude. It was just too much.
I’m guessing this is how it was done back in the day?
You can find IRL videos of Pius XII (the most recent pope named Pius) making use of this.
Knock Knock!
I love this series
It feels like roman emperor entering the Senate.

Holiness? Jesus say, holiness only belong to God.

@TheEnd Have you ever heard of history books? Please, check the stats of the Inquisition.
And btw, the Church has never ask money with the sacrament of penitence, what you said is a slander. An indulgence is an optional penitential practice.
@TheEnd You speak as though Protestants were angels, lol. Almost most religions have been involved in utter atrocities. Protestants aren't an exception. Slave trade, native American extermination, wars of religion were awful situations in which protestant nations were protagonists (along with their Catholic rivals).
@TheEnd I don't know who teach such lies, but please, think for yourself, make your research beyond your pastor sermons.
@TheEnd Whether you like it or not, protestants were quite similar to Catholics in atrocities and superstition, notably during the XVI and XVII centuries. Study the Thirty Years War for example, the infamous Salem's trials, etc. I don't defend the Catholic Church (itself, a corrupted vestige of Constantine's Church). I just pinpoint those uncomfortable details you religious people refuse to acknowledge.
@TheEnd Stop blaspheming against the Church, you pagan! It is the Mother that Our Lord gave to humanity. She has prevailed along two millenia and it will stand here until the End of the World, not like the other nationalist and false churches rooted in the world, so they can't remain united for a single century.
Reminds me somehow of Parajanov's "The pomegranate"
Yes plz
By looking at some of the comments, I would say that many need to realize that this pope is fictional. There is no official Pope Pius XIII.
Know the difference between fact and fiction.
fiveminuteswithjim
Right, this is TV fiction,
but the way Roman popes behaved for many centuries
was EXACTLY THIS ,and far worse.
fiveminuteswithjim worse than that but I am glad that they were not able to destroy the Church. Until now there are still people inside the church who want to destroy It , priests who were involved in sex scandals but as Christ said even the gates of hades will not prevail against It. He will with us until the end of time. Thank You Lord.
That's why I never wasted my time watching it.
Religion=fiction
@@denssb 2006 called they want their atheists back

In a studio.
At Saint Gods church
Ryan Patterson mostly in Rome actually. They couldn't access any of the actual parts of the Vatican so they made realistic sets for those scenes
Nice
I'm sure the disciples ALL carried St. Peter around like this. -_-
God loves you Yes he was crucified so that his successors will be like this
didnt jesus wash the feet of his disciples?
Austin McMahon I know this is super late but I thought I would mention that yes Our Lord did wash His disciples feet, and because of this the pope actually washes the feet of catholic faithful every year on Holy Thursday. He is also known as the “Servant of the Servants of God.” It is the office of Pope which receives honour and respect not the person holding the office.
hahaha nice
