There are all these Whereaboos on the internetz saying how great the WWII German tanks were. Ignore them for a minute and consider the supposedly primitive Churchill Infantry tank. Americans sometimes deride them as they had certain features which hearkened back to WWI tanks. Well big hairy deal so did some of the best French tanks, as well as the interwar American tanks such as the Lee and the machine gun festooned light tanks America came up with (not enough mg's imo lol.) But the Churchill was famed for its survivability, spare room inside, and adaptability for specialist roles, which Hobart did a lot of work on. Canadian Hussars during the Dieppe Raid were thanking God they were inside of Churchill tanks being pummelled with infantry mortar bombs rather than some other Commonwealth tank mind you. On a slightly different tack, Canada tried selling a tilt rotor a/c to the US Army for use in Vietnam. Nobody was interested in that as Nixon was working on the peace deal at about that time. It is a moot point as to whether the Canadair CL84 Dynavert would have been purchased by the USA, or whether it would have been a widow maker in US service had the S.E.A. wars continued as per the speculative fiction story Watchmen.
