They actually did... But only in other markets. Sony released the AX60, AX43A and AX45A as newer models with slight updates to the existing AX53, AX43 and AX45 in the Japan and Taiwan market as far as I know.
I love this camera but both times gimbal broke and they destroyed my camera while in repairing no refund even though they didn't get my consent to destroy it. But i do want a succesor
So the EU/Asia model is 50/25fps because mains frequency in Europe and Asia is 50Hz and any mains flicker when shooting in artificial light will be mitigated by this. Same for the US where the mains frequency is 60Hz, and so 60/30 is used. I have no idea how they get on in Japan, where half the country is 50Hz and the other is 60Hz. You'd think that for this very reason it should be easy to switch between the two. 24fps is what's known as cinematic mode, and shoots at the same framerate as is used in movies, and gives a cinematic quality to your footage. The EU version does do 24fps, but it's a bit of a pain to change. When you do change from 50/25 to 24, the camera will format the SD card. There is firmware available now to flash from EU to US, but if you shoot in the EU with US firmware you might be susceptible to flickering when shooting in artificial light, and vice versa. I might changing mine from EU to US to see if the flickering is a problem. It would would also be nice to be able to from 30 to 24 easily.
It has to do with the European standards in compare to the US. In Europe the standards are max 50p in HD and 25p in 4K. I also have an European model (cause I live there😂 ) but I tweaked the software to have it 60p/30p. It’s very easy to do
ntsc if for usa and nothing lower then 30 your shooting at 4k and the other 24 is for European and other another parts of the world hope this helps clear things up
I also hate this PAL/NTSC division. I wouldn't mind in the cheapest handycams, but it's at least 2 levels up. Every one should have an option to choose between PAL and NTSC nowadays. My Samsung NX300 from 2012 can do this! And the most annoying thing is that you lose 120fps. You'll geto only 100fps.
This sounds exactly like the type of thing Sony's marketing department will do. This camera is/was so good that it has remained a top seller for seven years and something had to be done to preventing this camera from further negatively impacting the DSLR market.
Incorrect... Watch the video, you can literally see where there is no option. The only way to do it is to change the software like how all the comments on the video are saying
Why did you buy a PAL region camera? The electricity in America runs at 60Hz but in Europe it is 50Hz, those frequencies are not evenly compatible, for example lights would blink and strobe. The difference is also why american NTSC tv system runs at 60i(interlaced eg even and odd half frames) and european PAL at 50i. When you need full frames, that means progressive mode, in 50Hz region you get 25p (ideal half of 50) and in 60Hz regions 30p. I think that even though the camera is natively 50i region version, there should be a region setting to 60Hz region, as people who are filming while traveling would be complaining about strobing lights abroad.
I didnt. As explained in the video, I bought the North American version and was either sent the wrong one or the description and specs were incorrect on Amazon.
We just all need to petition Sony to make a successor already 😩
That will be my luck. I’ll get this all sorted out, own 2 of them and then a few days later “coming soon, the new Sony ax63”
Yeah, after 8 years waiting its time for a successor.

We need a 4K 50/60p with same image stabalation not an AX43 with no eye pice

It makes sense. Since 25 fps PAL video is already so close to 24 fps, why bother having a dedicated 24 fps mode? No one will notice the difference.
I just got one and I foubd it is 50i 😢. . But your commet makes me little hiorful. Care to explain more pls

It was also very easy to throw it in the box and send it back since it wasn't what I ordered.
How do you switch please the software ?
How is that possible ? Be great to know
I found the video that showed how just search
@@stujonarniewhere’s the video?

They sent the wrong camera, there's nothing that needs clearing up...
@@MTAviationPhotoFilm Probably more hassle sending it back than modifying the firmware wasn't it?

Hopefully everything is drama free and you get back in business soon. Cant wait to see more DTW footage
I just bought this from Amazon and it it 50i.
50i également
I’m gonna get this from Amazon with the kit hoping I get the 60i but it’s probably gonna be a 50i so I’ll have to tweak the software to ntsc
How to reenable time code when recording? Because now its gone, so I didnt know how long I record my video
May be also it's PAL for Europe and NTSC for North America
Great video 👌 do you have a link i get a bigger battery 🔋
No
Maybe its your region need to be set🤷🏽♂️
No its the fact that its a 50i and not a 60i as explained in the video. It has nothing to do with any of the settings
@@MTAviationPhotoFilm ok 👍
For the AX53, would you recommend a lens hood?
I have never used one with it
I saw the Sony FDR-AX53 4K Handycam camcorder at Best Buy back in February.
You got a gray camera, which may have been cheaper but does not carry a USA warranty. If that is a concern always buy from a Sony authorized dealer.
I want this camera so bad but its 800 dollars😭
I am glad I switched to it. I think its a great camera for what I do. Which is why I have 2
You can used one for much cheaper. I just bought mine for 520€. Camera was bearly used.
Nur 1x runter gefallen, bissl nass geworden.

I have this camera. The only thing that I DON'T like about this camera is that you CANNOT record in 4K with an external LCD!
You can change to ntsc standard within the settings. You will find a 25p or 24p mode option.
