I can't thank you enough for this video. I've been trying to find a way to convert huge wav files to mp3 and I didn't know VLC had this feature. One thing I had to do differently tho was when selecting the file to convert to. Your video shows vorbis OGG, in my version of VLC, there's an option just below that for Audio MP3. Using vorbis OGG made the file not play, but using Audio MP3 works. Thanks again for the info. Much appreciated! :)

Thanks, this was helpful! I've been downloading WAV files from Bandcamp, but wanted to make high quality 320kbps MP3's out of them. Didn't know that VLC Media Player could do the transformation for me - so thank you! LIke CherokeeMaiden81 said though, there's an option just below vorbis OGG to select Audio MP3. From there, click on the wrench icon to change the settings and increase the default bit rate from 128kbps to 320kbps. Also, VLC Media player allows you to select (and convert) multiple WAV files at once, which is convenient.
