    Thank you for the instructions. I got one of these towers myself recently and did what you did. Shouted this video out on my new one about my CD collection.

    This video is still as valuable today as it was when it was posted. These overhaul instructions work great - just bought one of these and the included bearing is still a sick joke. Thank you for your help! 👍

      Thanks Brian. Wouldn't you rather pay an extra $10 - $20 for an upgraded bearing instead of having to do it yourself????? I cannot believe they are still selling them with that cheesy plastic bearing. Glad I could help you out.

      You're welcome! Yes - you would think that they would either offer the option of an upgrade bearing or just include something substantial. Best wishes for the New Year!@@StevesStrayStuff

    I have two of those pos towers and movers just broke the swivel on one of them. I laughed when I saw and was reminded that it’s plastic. Found your video and now I’m hopeful I can upgrade the broken one and possibly change the working one after. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for the helpful and fun video!

    Steve, Thank you for this video and your find to fix the issue that was easy & inexpensive. Completed my tower this past weekend. I have two questions for you. 1.) You mentioned that you have "ripped" your entire music collection to your system. I was wondering if you had a video showing how to complete this task. I probably would utilize the same method but to some sort of Apple equipment because my wife & I have Iphones, and you seem knowledgeable and understand saving money. 2.) My collection had the abuse of my three young children at the time (grown adults now). However, prioring to ripping the music to a new system, I'd like to repair the CD's. Mostly minor scratches. Any thoughts or videos? John

    • @StevesStrayStuff
      @StevesStrayStuff  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi John. You are very welcome for the video. I did rip my entire CD collection, 1000+ CDs, using dBpoweramp. Here is a link to the video using dBpoweramp: czcams.com/video/Et49ztY8094/video.html
      dBpoweramp supports the following:
      Included Codecs: AIFF, Apple Lossless, DSD, FLAC, m4a FDK (aac), Monkeys Audio, Mp3 (Lame), ogg vorbis, opus, Wave, Wavpack, Windows Media Audio, [Multi-Encoder], [ID Tag Update] and [Replay Gain].
      I was fortunate, I did not have children messing with my CDs, but I have purchased hundreds of used/preowned CDs. If you have minor scratches, that should not affect you ripping them. I have had some CDs that had errored tracks that just would not rip without bad errors, if that were the case, I would just skip that errored track.
      If you do decide to use dBpoweramp, I recommend purchasing the software instead of using the free software, so you have no restrictions using the software. The nice thing about dBpoweramp is you can rip multiple CDs at one time. I do not have that in the video, but I have had four drives connected and was able to rip four CDs at a time which reduces the time you are sitting at the computer.
      I did clean all my CDs with my circa 1980s Allsop CD cleaner prior to ripping them and it still works fine to this day. Good luck John, getting all your CDs ripped to a drive is quite an accomplishment and it makes them great for streaming.

    Great video, would you recommend putting wheels on this so it's moveable?

    • @StevesStrayStuff
      @StevesStrayStuff  Před 6 měsíci

      The only issue I can see with putting wheels on this, is the possibility of it easily tipping over while moving it, especially if it is on carpet. With this tower full, the center of gravity it pretty high. If you were to put wheels on it, I would make sure you have at least two people to move it around. If you do put wheels on it, please let me know how it turns out.

    • @StevesStrayStuff

      When I emailed them about the total tower weight limit exceeding the 400 pound plastic swivel rating, they said I can special order a tower with a metal bearing at an additional cost. You're right, if they they advertise a 400 pound CD capacity when the total weight is 500+ pounds, the metal bearing should be standard, turds!
