It's kind of a sweet detail that Lizzie mirrors the "you're so brave" line she hears in the car to him once they're in the hospital. It's probably the first time shes seen that kind of caring parenting
I never noticed that detail but it’s adorable
@@mqximofeditz8881 She also has a look of trust, here 1:18

Good
Lizzie prolly woulda drop kicked em if they didn’t move
Right bro they clutch so that the others would be able to rotate to circle, storm was doing 5
I was expecting that line.
I feel like this was a key moment that made Lizzie realize that these two really do care about them and it isn’t about the money or anything because 1) they didn’t blame Juan for the accident 2) the way how they calmed him down 3) the fact they felt at fault for it and wanted to take responsibility when it wasn’t fully their fault either. This was a moment that made her let her guard down for a bit
Yeah
They were both at fault he shouldn't have left that nail gun there and Juan shouldn't be playing with it. He should have been disciplined at least a little, he's not a baby.
@@OHCAM5 yea the discipline was the nail in the foot lmao
It also made Juan trust them. Before he was scared of them. it made him feel more secure around them.
And how they made sure to shield Lita from the situation as best as they could. It's really important to keep the witnesses calm as well as the victim.
This was a brutal scene to watch, it went from comedic and partly aggressive to absolutely horrifying

The Beast shut up clown
The Beast That sounds so far fetched and dumb, are you even telling the truth
I love the positive reinforcement of leaving foreign objects lodged within the body until you get to the hospital as it reduces the chance of bleeding out
We lose far too many people each year from nails being taken out of toes too soon. The amount of blood toes will lose will result in a total loss of life in 29 days if left removed and untreated. They played it correctly, leave rusty nails where they lay unless you are a trained professional or an adult.
@@djn00dle 😂
@@ShowNoMercy453 true though
It's not just about blood loss in this case, the foot is very delicate and complex part of the body, like the hand. It's filled with small ligaments, tendon, bones and nerves. There are surgeons who specialise in operating on feet and ankles specifically. Ripping an object out of the foot to quickly or at the wrong angle could cause serious nerve damage.
1:31 that line was brilliantly delivered by Rose Byrne. Probably out of adrenaline, or that she really believes that she is indeed theirs, she instantly said “yes!” when asked if she’s the mom, then suddenly said “uhm, his foster mom” since she knew that Lizzie is there and wouldn’t like her to claim as their legit mother.

Then the needle is in and you want to cry out in pain but you will sound like a baby if you do it
My favorite part of this scene is the look Lizzy gives Ellie at 1:58 when she hesitates for a second and then tells her to take Lita. She's looking back and forth between Juan and Lita like she's scared and overwhelmed but like it's still her responsibility to help both of them on her own, and then she accepts that she can't do it all on her own and lets her guard down and accepts that they're all on the same team actually and she needs to trust Ellie with Lita because Juan needs her more right now. It's a lot to communicate almost without words but Isabela Moner kills it
They're such good parents. I love how it was never about them. They never once questioned how Juan's injury reflected on them; they just wanted to give him the care he needed. I also really love that they showed Lizzie that they legitamately cared about all three of them; they weren't just adopting them for their reputation. The world needs more parents like these.

Seeing Juan crying in his foster dad’s arms, with him hugging him so tight and comforting him to help him forget the pain…
It feels even more moving when you think of all the signs that showed that Juan was probably abused before and kept mental scars of it…
This feels quite « ironic » because it’s probably not the first time that he’s in a situation of physical pain and fear with a foster parent around him… but it must have been the first time that not only the foster parent was not responsible for the pain, but was actually there to hug him, to comfort him, to stay with him, to hold his hand…
It was probably the first time in his life that during a moment of pain and fear, he has someone to help him get through it and make him feel it will be okay. And that actually came from his foster dad, something he was probably not used to

For anyone who cares the nail gun in this scene in called a Paslode. The real gun is orange but for some reason it is green here probably legal reasons. This one doesn't use a compressor it uses a battery and a fuel cell. The Paslode dose not feature a bump fire mode so the gun would not go off with just the head depressed. In order to fire the gun you would need to first depress the head before pulling the trigger. so this couldn't happen with this type of nailer
Don’t you just hate it when a nail gun that’s not hooked up to a compressor and you don’t pull the trigger shoots you in the foot.

When Lita copies "you're so brave" because it's like the first form of good parenting she's seen. Couldn't forget that scene!
Although it’s a small part of the movie it’s situation is also very intense and relatable. This hasn’t happened to me, but my most favorite scene where the family stops their arguing and focuses on helping the child with a nail in their foot.
If this happened to me my dad would call me stupid and yell at me 💀
I loved this scene. While poor Juan got a nail in his foot it showed serious tone and in a way answered question Lizzie asked as she sees how much they cared here. Hence why she later takes blame for Juan getting hurt.
and notice, this is the first time Lizzie trusts the parents, as well. She had to choose between comforting Lida in the lobby or comforting Juan. She trusted the Mom to comfort her sister and she went to comfort her brother. It was the first time she relinquished that total control of her siblings a bit and trusted the parents.
That kid really nailed this scene.

As someone who has had a nail go through my foot when I was young, I can testify that it hurts like crap. Thankfully it didn't go all the way through, just half way from the bottom. I didn't go to the hospital, so my parents had me soak my foot in a bucket of hot soapy water, then bandaged with a bunch of gauze.
The same with me. My Mummy had to dig it out. Took me 2 years for the bottom of my foot to look normal.
