Can't do remakes all the time - Eric Draven
This sounds like a terrible idea. No one who watched the original failed to understand the loss he was feeling. While I'm not completely opposed to new takes on classics, it almost never works and it doesn't sound like this is going to be one of those that manages to catch lightning a second time.
What we need is a movie that makes fun of movie remakes titled We don't need another Remake
Let's make it happen lol
I'm pretty sure this does just that.
I don't have a problem with another Crow movie, but I do have a problem with doing the Eric Draven story again. There's so much material featuring different characters who became The Crow that would make great movies. The '94 movie is an absolute classic, Brandon Lee was perfect in it!
You mean like how there's a literal crow who was a black woman and if she had a feature people wouldn't call her a woke rendition even if she is literally part of the source material? 😂
@@WillianyAmillthere’s no way to quantify how people will receive that rendition, so it’s be wise to not use it as a preemptive argument for a rendition(this one) that you DO know how it’s being received.
I'm going to purchase and watch the orginal crow movie when this new one releases in theaters
I said just that myself, earlier tonight
Yeah the new movie is for muppet audiences.
Legit was watching it last night such an iconic movie especially the use of the crow to navigate areas🗣️💯
It'll be iconic after this reboot..
When MGK gets upset, he dresses up like this, locks himself in the bathroom and shadow boxes in front of the mirror to Atreyu songs.
Underrated comment.
What I describe this remake in 3 words
Disrespecting Brandon lee
This is highly disrespectful of both Brandon Lee and James O'Barr.
I cannot believe this travesty is going forward.
That's like trying to say ceaser romaro is being disrespected cause he have 23 other joker designs. You absolutely never fkn watched the crow: city of angels or the other graphic novels? Oh.... I hope no one told you there's a crow from the original source material that is a black woman.
@@WillianyAmill
I am familiar with all of the sequel movies, the additional graphic novels, and even the television show with Marc Dacascos.
This is different because unlike the rest of those variations, this is a direct retelling of Eric Draven's Crow. It is unnecessary and is disrespectful because Brandon and James were really good friends, Brandon was less than two weeks from his marriage, and James had written the graphic novel to get over a very tragic loss only to lose a dear friend during the shooting of his adaptation.
But, yeah... you're free to assume whatever you'd like to assume. Please do it in a less rude way.
@WillianyAmill They could have and should have made a movie out of one of the other Crow graphic novels. Dead Time would have been a great choice imo.
They needed to leave Eric Draven's story alone. It's been told, tell another.
@WillianyAmill Ceasar Romero didn't die during the filming of Batman ... should just leave some things alone ..
@@Ticonderous1 #1. the crow belongs to Jame's O'barr not Brandon lee. Jane's didn't even get to have the movie he wrote in his novel. How do you not know that?
#2. heath ledger died due to an overdose cause of the very direct psychosis effect of his joker role and we are still printing joker. 🤨
Honestly, I have thought about this for a long time and the problem I see is that you will need an exceptional actor to play this role, small frame dark hair, dark eyes pale skin AND be a master craftsman to boot because the crow just landed everything perfectly.
The only actor I can think of that could pull it off would be Jonny Depp and Tim Burton - but they would need to turn time burton down and push Jonnys skills to the maximum to make us forget its Jonny Depp. I cant see any other way to make it work and even then the chances are not great.
An actor that can stare at the things stoiclly and grin menacingly and walk through dark alley ways with a looming shadow and look at dead flower petals in the creases of vintage books and watch raindrops fall on a foggy window like baby angel tears..... 🤨
We don't need remakes of ANY movies. If someone has the ability to make a movie they should be able to come up with their own. These people are on the same level as cover/tribute bands.
Exactly
Cover & tribute bands tend to stick to the source tbh
So you are against 'The Thing' (Kurt Russel), Dune (Current), Scarface (Al Pacino), Casino Royale(Daniel Craig), They Fly(Goldblum), Last Of The Mohicans (D.D. Lewis), The Departed? And there a a few others that I missed. Not all remakes are crap.
Grow up. All movies are remakes and or remixes
@@fluxpistol3608 Not all movies are remakes.
So for one Brandon Lee perfected the role of Eric Draven, his acting was 2nd to none and the way this movie was written and directed can't be replicated. I'm all for remakes IF necessary but this just isn't needed.
Scarface (1983)
was a remake.
Casino Royale (2006) was a remake.
The Thing (1982) was a remake.
Remakes by themselves are not bad. The difference between a good one and a bad one, however, lies in the people behind the remake GIVING A CRAP ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE MAKING!
CAPE FEAR WAS A REMAKE, ROBERT DE NIRO KILLED IT!
BRAM STROKERS DRACULA, REMAKE
The thing: carpenter took the horror elements from the book where the original took the soft elements so basically they both based on the same thing but in different sections if that's the good way to put it
Casino Royale isn't a remake. The first Casino Royale was an over the top James Bond spoof. There is only one scene in that whole film that has anything to do with the original novel. The rest is completely made up.
The Fast And The Furious was a remake of Point Break. 😂😂😂 J.K. but it deffo was the same story retold slightly differently, basically. Also Point Break actually had a remake and it was good.
this pos will be a hard pass for me, a Jarred Leto looking Eric Draven, with face tats and all, NO THANK YOU!!
I'm so sick of all the Jared Leto comparisons.
The Crow is a title Luke Ghost Rider we can like the person having the title but it's a limited run for each character. It's a limited series not a trilogy of the same character or even a comic character like spawn. You could have like comics and Medieval crow, modern crow etc.and build a lineage especially if you brought in there counterpart snake and did a comparison and contract but no one cares about Eric Draven beyond the first movie or his corpse friends or the next Crow who dies to become Crow or the next Corpse or the next corpse or the next corpse. The Crow is generally just about rule of cool for 1 movie at a time. It could be more but probably won't.
What's next Pete Davidson as Edward scissorhands?
No one asked for any of the sequels. This on the other hand can breathe life back into a genre that’s gotten stale and formulaic. The biggest mistakes that this movie could make are not paying homage to Brandon Lee and toning down the acts of violence against Shelly for a modern woke audience
A dark comic book character that hasn't already had a movie would have been dope with the insane budget this will likely have. I'll watch it but it doesn't really sit right with me that they would do this. Feels cursed.
from what i hear this is a prequel, the crow is a secondary character so she can come back to life and be the crow in the sequel.
Its 2013 all over again 😂
What's worse is that in universe for the crow is that they had no reason to remake the original because like ghost rider, there's been thousands of people who have been the crow. How about instead of trying to reuse a perfectly fine move and change to fit the modern day (which would feel weird because the og crow fits perfectly in the 90s) why not make a new crow that takes place in a new time period. Maybe have it be set now or maybe do something interesting like having it be set in the old west or something. Really shake things up.
It’s the music and the tone! It’s the music! It’s the music!
Altering the motiff to show his humanity must be a tremedous challenge.
"Actually it was super easy. Barely an inconveniece!"
(I think I may be in the wrong aisle)
They fucked up...we dont need this remake...they can make a crow movie just not one about eric....only brandon lee can be eric
I never watched the movie, I was never into that sort of movie, but I am familiar with the tragedy that occurred during filming. As such I must agree with others that a remake is massively disrespectful toward a young man who died during filming. Sometimes remakes should be off limits, and this is one place where that should be the case.
The Crow was 'lightning in a bottle' as well as 'a product of it's times'
A remake or a reboot won't work. What are they going to do to pacify modern audiences, turn the crow into a black female with equal screen time?
There was a female crow, and a Native one. The movie versions sucked, but both comics were pretty good. But, while I get that people are sick of pandering in lieu of good storytelling, I feel like you just came here to complain about wokeness or whatever.
@@solvseusLiterally as if it wouldn’t be cool to see a black female crow. The comics are great, but the sequel movies not so much. If they actually try to make a good movies with actual story telling I think it’ll be fine. A lot of men seem to be pressed at the “wokeness” of a black woman in media.
The only thing these remakes do is prove the original was and is better.
So, they should keep making them then, to remind us how good the originals are!
Looking forward to the new remaster on Blu-ray.
The original was good because they showed the difference between good killing and bad killing
looking forward to seeing this love all the movies
Don't mess with perfection. No one could replace Brandon Lee!! It's one of my favourite movies, leave it alone!!! 😮😮
NO! Just, NO!
There's a few reasons why I love the original Crow. First is Brandon Bruce Lee, he's awesome! Secondly, is the killer soundtrack. It's just an all around great movie. But I will give the remake a chance without prejudice
If they remake it the better cast me as eric draven
There are some movies that are good, and the remake is better
..
But The Crow is a masterpiece and should NOT be messed with....
Brandon Lee 🥰 el único cuervo y su película la mejor ❤
I actually am cool with the remake could be cool to see a John wick joker version of the crow lol
You just cant remake the Crow... The only son of Bruce Lee died making this 90's masterpiece.
Unbelievable…Screen Rant completely missed the boat on what made the 1994 classic so endearing…which was Brandon Lee brought (already brought) a very humanistic quality to the character. This is why his performance is loved by viewers so much to this day. People could relate to him. This reboot will bring nothing new in that regard. This reboot was a mistake. Hollywood never learns.
Might be good. I liked the original, but I'll give this one a go.
Me: please no
Also Me: well, maybe....!
The original books were really good. I still have a few (and the graphic novel reprint) somewhere. Hesitant about this movie, even if it delves more into the lore, because even with all the changes the 1st movie was so iconic. The sequels have... not been great.
You call them sequels??? I was sure they were a continuation of the other mother fuhkahs that got to be the crow for their own revenge stories.
This Crow works for a tree service company who is addicted to Xanax and is a struggling sound cloud rapper based in southern Florida
This is so wrong. You don't mess with a perfect adaptation of the comics! Brandon Lee was born to play that role he made Eric Draven come to life. Who wants to compete with that?
Im not completely against the idea of a remake and the stills look intriguing so im not gonna hate on it but it not having a supernatural elements is a little disappointing. All i want is for them to respectfully adapt the source material
People complain about them turning white characters blacl, yet the crow was part Asian, and this guy is not. Brandon Lee Forever. God forbid Hollywood ever cast an Asian guy.
Are you sure they’re making “The Crow” and not the “Meth Head”?
There was a crow in the graphic novels that was a meth head, and there was a crow who was an old native man, and a crow who was a black woman.
Real zinger there buddy you’re doing terrific.
Hopefully it’s not a shot for shot remake….
These hacks are taking an absolute classic that’s loved and cherished and bringing it up to date with ‘modern audiences’…. Yeah sounds like a plan…. This film will fail and deserves to as it’s a shameless cash-in.
Why do you get to have 28 fukn jokers and we don't get to have the version of the crow based on the Lazarus heart volume?
Zef Life
With The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, we had two seasons of added context to Eric's life. This is a hard pass for meth head Eric interpretation.
Not seeing it.
..........First of all, we already got a remake of the Crow it's called Stairway to Heaven with Marc Decoscas.
Secondly, way to "modernize" it by casting a Swiss white actor to replace a minority Asian American, very "diverse" of you.
Le sigh.
So changing the character to look completely different than the comic, focusing on the relationship instead of...The Crow...and trying to make money on the name alone essentially.
A remake of a movie that was dedicated to an actor in it feels like such a gross, disrespectful thing to do. Brandon brought such an amazing personality and image to Eric Draven, that no one can replicate. Even the sequels couldn't capture the way he did it. Now they want to make him look like the Joker, putting an actor who, while great for creepy and scary characters, I don't think can achieve the emotional connection needed for the loss of a spouse.(I know they didn't wed yet, but they were essentially married, he loved her so much)
Just make a different movie, stop trying to remake good classics!
So then do you hate every version of the joker who is not ceaser romaro?
You know its bad when you see the face tattoo and that hair cut its remake they gona make it what they thinking is cool but in reality its just cringe
horrible idea, love the original
It radically too different from the original look. The hair doesn't look well at all. Even something like Jake Gyllenhals haircut from prisoners would have been different but not as changed as that.
No controversy and not polarizing the new movie is trash.
Don’t why ppl are the first crow was decent at best
Rebooting this movie is a total disrespect to Brandon Lee. Now they’re going to make it more about the girl and less about the man and 100$ they’re going to make Shelly be the crow and the person who gave him the powers
Exactly, it should have been untouchable because of the real life tragedy it is now inextricably connected to. Honestly if it weren't for that it would have been just one more remake, good or bad (more likely lol) but the disrespect makes me have no interest whatsoever in watching it.
Never will watch the new one
The reason why reboots and remakes always fail, because of THE CHANGES! I want a shot for shot version and not a " different" aproach.
At the bare minimum.
At best maybe one less shot than the original…
Boyotting this disrespectful cashgrab. No one wanted it and no one needs it. Updating for a "modern audience" is code for a bad movie. Call Eric Draven ANY OTHER NAME and it would not be getting the hate, but by calling him Eric Draven you're tarnishing the memory of Brandon Lee, who literally died making the Crow. Sad. This movie is trash.
As a person named after Eric Draven, I don't want or need a remake.
I don't want it, no onr wants it, no one wants more remakes and sequels. We remember them because they were ORIGINALS.
There are a lot of remakes even better than the originals! Some you forgot about.
@Fakeaorta this won't be one of them. I would rather suffer thru Crow Wicked Prayer and I don't wish that on anyone
@@JonWarren78 I don't have any faith the remake will be good. But I meant that I like remakes if they are done well. If we said no remakes we would not have The Thing or Last of the Mohicans. And several others.
@Fakeaorta oh I agree some are good...this clearly won't be one. Agree with Last of the Mohicans however The Thing remake was decent but far from as good as the original
@@JonWarren78 The Kurt Russel remake is way better than the 1950s version.
This movie will be the purest form feces.
Yeah it gonna flop but hey who knows🤷♂️
This Review was A Nothing Burger. Billion Dollar Box Office.
this is awful news
ew he looks like a mumble rapper
Please....PLEASE DON'T DO THIS
Fandom in general is entirely too toxic and entitled to tolerate this. They’ll never give it a chance and it will be review bombed before they do.
Sigh ..why though. Nobody asked for this. Some classics need not to be touched. I wish movies will go back to the creativity they used to have before this overly sensitive woke world.
So every version of joker after ceaser romaro was woke ....?
Stop trying to ruin classics we don’t want them and no one asked you for them
Go buy the original out of spite or protest, I did, 👍.
Crow will be female
The original comics did have a lot of the relationship stuff in it as this is saying, and there was a female crow in later stories. They were actually pretty good. This won't be that, but I feel like sometimes you guys just come here to complain about teh womens and wokeness...
If anyone was going to Shill for this POS Trash Fire of a "Remake" it would be Screen Rant...SMH
