Every time they release a new Mario Kart, they always have a new version of Rainbow Road, but you are right, we need a retro rainbow road, and yes, it should be from N64.

Retro Grand Prix never ended with Rainbow Road (the correct way) until Mario Kart 7. Hopefully they continue it that way in MK8, with a Rainbow Road ending on the Retro Grand Prix.

I love how when you go in anti-gravity mode the kart sounds like an RC car. It's a cute little sound detail for beta development!

I'm so glad Wii Remote and Nunchuck are supported!! Its The Best control for me. Everyone should try it. Especially for Bike Players. You can get real precision on corners
i prefer using gamecube controller (even on bike) but i have to use classic controller because wii u doesnt support gc. Deffinately using a pro controller for mk8

Ideally, they should be supporting everything: Pro, Classic, Nunchuk, Wiimote/Wheel, Gamepad. (With options between thumbstick and motion steering on Gamepad, or maybe simply auto-detecting which one you're trying to use.)
I hope they give an option to switch the L trigger back to power slide like in Double Dash, using X for item (assuming A for accelerating) instead.
They are supporting everything. However, it was mentioned that bikes won't be able to wheelies in MK8 to make the game more ballanced.

The game looks beautiful. The camera positioning especially in the desert course with the flying sand adds so much immersion. I'm excited.

The music in the background in here is Mario circuit (the mobius strip music) and Toad's harbour (the san francisco track) - (the one played at the start)
i do, that stage i remember it all to well. the twin norva or what ever you call them they always beat me there.

There is. You just click an icon on the touch screen to switch between the map and the horn. There's videos of it on CZcams somewhere...
I'm so hyped with all these next gen consoles, with me having the wii u I'm really looking forward to all the new games from all the famous franchises.
There is now a nunchuck connecter with a GC controller input to wiimotes, so if you can classic controller, you can GC controller on wii U
i want the wild wing & the royale to come back & the soda jet & cheep charger too

There are plenty of shots just from behind, I suspect the shots with the camera rotating are just in replay mode or alternatively the developers can no doubt set the cameras where they want with one person playing normally. Looks awesome

Honestly have not been this excited for a game in a very long time.
Watching the trailer and this Developer Direct for the game makes me really want to play some Mario Kart 7 until this new game is released.
I hope they are still as many players playing it as there were a few months ago when I last went online.

This game looks fantastic. I bought a Wii U a few weeks ago in an impulse buy and after all this great news at E3 I'm so happy I did.
Pro support is a given, you can also play with the gamepad without any motion controls, just triggers and sticks and you can switch between them with the touch of a button.

yeah, rainbow road has always been like a crescendo of awesomeness in every mariokart game. mario kart 7 was probably my favorite rainbow road yet probably next to mariokart ds, because of the loop de loop.

Maybe with the gamepad you can have a reveiw mirror to say see where your shooting or block an object coming towards you so much to the gamepad can be added but you need to add ideas like those that people will really love
I just watched a few gameplay vid's of CNK and yes, they did do the whole going sideways with the wheels turning downwards anti gravity stuff first so now you can be happy that Nintendo are using that idea for a proper well made karting game. After watching CNK I had to watch a couple of MK DD vids just to remind myself what an actual gen 6 karting game should be.
Hideki Konno was right about Mario Kart 8 being the definitive Mario Kart because it’s been 8 years since and no true sequel has been announced.
I'd just like to say that the narrator's voice-over is unbelievably soothing.

I'm really hoping they bring back the double karts. That was one of my most favorite game mechanics in the series.
I like how you can hear the real voice and language of the person that they made really quiet. Looking for this game, Mario 3D World and Super Smash Bros.!

I went to Downtown Disney yesterday and saw their Wii U booths there. Let's hope that this increases console sales.

The touch screen allows you to be able to honk your horn from the videos I've seen at E3.

they almost look like toys driving in the real world the detail in this game is incredible.
I like how various controllers are supported with this game. I have to say, Mario Kart 8 looks fantastic! Love the HD graphics and the new stages! I was jumping out of my seat when I saw how cool this game looks! It's gonna be so much fun! Thanks Nintendo!

Even tho I knew this game was coming I didn't expect it to be one of the titles that PROVES the wiiu is a true next gen system, stunning and innovative game. Just wish it was coming this year!!!! Wiiu NEEDS it for this holiday season guys!
Crash nitro kart actually had this "gimmick" and it's one of my favourite racing game yet!

I think they using Places where Space is warped and is building paradoxes (Like a Small house with a Huge inside or a Endless Stair) or something like Black holes.

On MK7, there wasn't 'cause it's on a portable console (3DS), and the portable consoles are much more limitated compared to the normal consoles

I'd like to see an option to adjust which Items you can get from item boxes, and the frequency at which they appear. The Item appearing rates are generally pretty good, but It would make for some pretty interesting race modes, or even new game types. For example: make it so that when you are in first place, all you get is bananas, or even the ability to eliminate blue shells completely, if desired.
Oh boy...I'm anxious to see what they do with Rainbow Road in this game >.>

I assume either four or five: One with the Gamepad, 4 with other controllers (Wii Wheel, or Wiimote+Nunchuck combo).

I think he means that you would be able to turn specific items on and off.
I believe it will be like in the Wii, where you had multiple choices of controllers (wii, nunchuk, classic, gamecube)

This will the best Mario Kart ever, I'm excited and can't wait to play on a bike again! It looks like Mario Kart mixed with F-Zero (I'm a huge fan of both)!

We need a Rainbow Road Cup with all Rainbow Roads from the series! 7 old and the new one, which makes 8 in total. Would fit perfectly to Mario Kart 8 :)

I hope they do something about VR. If they implement it, allow players with high VR to actually be matched with people with high VR. Or even establish rankings and statistics for each player; i.e, favorite character/stage, wins, losses, etc.

It's kinda silly too cause the Wii U Pad isn't that bad at all once you get used to it.
They'll likely have a Gamecube controller adapter stuff in the future, but for now people are gonna have to get used to the Wii Pad and WiiU Pro Controller. Also people foreget that you can use Wii Remotes for some games along with the Wii's Classic Controllers.
