    And they do have Scottish country dancing here in Texas. I used to go to classes at Our Lady of the Lake. And I went to a Scottish Highland Ball one year in Austin. It's easy and fun.

      +Jean Jones Yes, it is popular world over, even in Japan and Russia.

      +ausfi I mentioned the Scottish Highland Ball in Austin because Ed Miller used the term in one of his songs. He moved to Austin, so I guess he is one of our Scottish Texans now. Thank you for telling me that it is popular the world over, as it should be. It is a fun way to socialize and enjoy music.

    This likely happened in Denmark or Norway. The Saint Andrews flag swirls proudly, too.

      Yes David, they dance in Oslo, Norway. A pity I am not steady enough to be part of the group.

    I've competed at a Scottish Country dancing competition with this dance. We came second. But we were only one point away from being joint first.

      +Brian Forrest I'm happy Caroline answered you, I tried to find it online and then forgot to ask the people who know when I saw them. The group is based on Oslo, Norway and uses recordings when they dance during these yearly musical events involving many different performers.
      This is the best recording of Frisky that I have heard.

    Good, solid playing here...can you name the band please..? Were they playing live, or from a recording?

      +Brian Forrest It's Alan Gardiner and his band, and the recording is from the RSCDS recording of the music from Book 26. Love this CD and use it loads!

  • @anonymoususer6158
    @anonymoususer6158 Před 8 lety

    Right. Like on 'Strictly'? Go away... dance is for nutters and exhibitionists. If the music is good, why spoil it by dancing? If it's rubbish, why dance at all?

    • @ozsfi
      @ozsfi  Před 8 lety +5

      +edwardszzz Maybe I'm feeding a troll, everyone has a right to an opinion, but I'm sad that you don't know anything about the joy of dancing. Nothing sad about it. Many people enjoy also other kinds of movement, slalom, downhill, car racing, flying. One might have lots of fun dancing, even when making mistakes. I love to listen to music, even to compose some, but that's other kind of music.
      Anyway, thanks for the comments, even negative ones.
