Midsummer (Juhannus) on Seurasaari island in 2012
There were tradesmen and artists showing and selling their wares. A lady made flowers from felt by treating the material with soap. One of them was a maker of horns of birch bark. He played a short piece of music composed by Teppo Repo from Ingermanland. We were shown bonfires from different parts of Finland. There were boats in the bay next to the showground where people had gathered close to the bonfires. I was sitting on some rock outcrop.
A choir was singing a few songs, I joined in a couple of them.
Seurasaari celebrations always include a bridal pair. I was only able to get back a view of them when they were taken away in a horse-drawn vehicle. Later they were rowed away in a long church boat, which was too far away to get a video.
Later a band was playing folk music and people were dancing jenkka.
Children tried to walk on stilts and there were several kinds of swings.
Leaving the island, I found a couple feeding a mute swan (Cygnus olor)

'Jean S' singing Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley at the Happenings Park at the European Athletic Championships in Helsinki on 28th June 2012. This was the winning number of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1984 by the Herreys (Sweden). Herreys is still singing this, but they have improved the rhythm a bit since 1984. I find the performance of Jean S more exciting and funny, with great rhythm.
