When I was younger I really wanted pointe shoes so I tried that. Got them less than a year later.😂
I know right. I see these shows or magazines with these literal 7 year olds on pointe......WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. They are not nearly strong or mature enough for pointe shoes most girls don’t get/aren’t ready for pointe shoes until age 11 or 12.

I've seen 7 year olds do fouettes en pointe and everyone in the comments is always like "wow she's so talented!" and I'm like "that's unneccessary and dangerous! Sure, every child is different, but no child is ready for advanced moves in the center en pointe at freakin' SEVEN years old!" 😠😤

i have a strict black leotard dress code i’m so mad that there are people that can show up with cats on their leotard when i can’t even have a little bit of color on mine 😂😂

itchy dance costumes are the WORST
Yeah I had a costume that was a glittery fabric but it was the same on the inside. And it was our last dance but it was super early in the show. So we had to stay in it for 3 hours. 𝑌𝑖𝑘𝑒𝑠
I know right some of my costumes have sequins all over the front and on the inside you can feel all the knots holding them on

Girl last year we have a strict WHITE leotard dress code. It was trauma inducing.
My school had different colours for the different levels...Of course they had to pick white for the junior girls who just started puberty in many cases... I was always worried everyone could see my nipples through the thin white fabric and if you gained like a hundred grams, you could see it in those trauma inducing white leotards! 😱

I have lots of different colors and styles, but I still mostly go for the black ones for ballet class nowadays and so do many other girls... We don't have any kind of dresscode but we're all adults and therefore expected to know how to dress appropriately for ballet class...😅🌛

I'm so happy that there is a CZcamsr that is relatable and helpful for ballet things
I work in a Ballet company/school wardrobe in Canada and learning how to make tutu's which is a process. So much hand tacking goes into them, but it's so fun to do! Some of the tutus we make for shows, with the decorated plate would cost about 3-5k to make all decorated with the bodice. A practise tutu alone is still about 400$ for students.

when i used to dance, if you were at a younger/lower level you'd wear a dusty rose pink leotard, crossover, and wrap skirt (+tights and shoes) and when you got to a certain level you'd get to wear the exact same thing except in plum/indigo. now, i'm looking at rejoining the school (it's been about 8-9 years!) and whilst it's at the same location, i'm pretty sure it's a new school because with each level there's a different colour. like, younglings get the pink, then lilac, then mulberry, then plum, and then navy.
actually, fun story since i'm excited for rejoining ballet! i contacted the school the other day and asked about their adult ballet classes (i'm 18) and they said they'd be putting me in a senior/advanced class (the advanced class requires demi pointes oop). which leaves me very concerned about their expectations of my skill level, i only recently started doing stretches again with Mackenzie's videos and whilst i want to hope i'm good enough for the class, i'm unsure if i'll be ready for demi pointes anytime soon and if i'll be behind at all. (for anyone wondering btw, the only reason i stopped doing ballet when i was younger was because my parents rage quit me after my teacher told me i wasn't good enough to do the exams but that i'd do an "assessment" XD)

My dance costumes are made by our studio so we cant keep them but the are GORGEOUS and really high quality, I was a girl thing from the opening scene is=n the nutcracker and we all has the beautiful hoop skirt dresses my was grey with layers or ruffle, lace and details, it was the best costume I ever had.

Those people who can wear what ever leotard they want is lucky I have to wear the leotard based on my age and level and it has my studios logo on the leotard kinda jealous
I miss ballet so much... I used to do classes when I was younger up into my teens, but they were focusing more on tap and I didn't like tap dancing at all it didn't vibe with me like ballet did and it was a mixed class too with younger kids, and the focus was not on us older ones so I had to leave. :( i really wanted to focus on ballet. Yeah I could just pick it up again after this COVID situation, but I don't know man. I had a rough time in horse riding classes with a teacher who had favourites and well, I developed body dysphoria. I know the ballet world can have teachers who can be like that and I DON'T want that happening again. But my old dancer teacher was really nice and patient, just she focused more on tap and the younger ones. I understood it was a blended ballet and tap class,but... ballet was just something that filled me with so much joy and happiness. I loved it and still love watching it now.

For years after I stopped dancing whenever I had to wait in line I’d go en pointe in shoes kind of like the docs but they weren’t boots, they were shoes. I did it all of the time.

i broke both my doc martens and canvas shoes soles by doing half-pointe in them 🥲 the vans are still going strong but they're the newest ones so, we'll see how long they last ! (all great for pointes tho)

My dance studio has a solid color leotards and mostly people do black or pink. But also red and purple. We have to be wearing skirts and in jazz and lyrcial skirts or dance shorts

At my dance school we have specific colours for like all the grades up until your first year of pointe which is intermediate foundation. Then you can wear what ever but for exams you need to wear a purple, black or navy Leo!
