    It was so moving. Damiano at the end cried and the day after in IG STORIES he thanked San Remo to let him sing finally the song of his heart, his pals to play it for him, and his girlfriend to let him ‘live’ and write the story. It’s for her and that’s why he was so moved. And we in Italy all in tears with him ❤️

    Re-watch the video till to the end. You'll see Damiano crying for the strong feelings he felt during the performance. So moving ❤️

    I'm so glad you picked this song, and you picked the BEST performance of it ever. (IMO 😊 ). It's a lot to take in, with the lyrics and the music and the orchestra and the visuals and the *emotion*. But it's worth it, and you can always go back and watch it again to experience all the details. I think the emotion was due to the fact that they were returning to the Sanremo Festival as the winners after quite a life-changing year, and performing this very emotional song in their home country for their closest loved ones who were in the audience (plus the entire hall full of people). The year that they won Sanremo, 2021, as I understand it, they had won while performing to a mostly empty auditorium due to the pandemic conditions.

      The song is also a very very hard one to sing: you need to take high notes and then calm down to take the lower ones in the end. It takes a lot and tires you fast, the full song i mean, so it's mentally hard to sing

    he writes about a girl he knew. she suffered from anxiety and eating disorders. She also was afraid to leave her house. She dies irl. The lyrics at the end talk about a cemetery in Rome with strong walls where nothing will hurt her anymore. 💔 😢

    • @annarae2396
      @annarae2396 Před rokem +1

      There is nowhere IRL that says the girl died, Damiano has in fact said the opposite and that the person has heard the song and approves. My feeling is that suicida was a thought, but not carried out.

    Ciao io sono italiana, Coraline nn era la ragazza di Damiano, ma è una storia reale ed è una persona a cui lui tiene moltissimo! Infatti alla fine di questa esibizione ha pianto perché questa canzone l'ha scritta proprio per lei! Ciao dall'Italia sei bravissimo!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹😘😘

    we have , in italy, a famous example of a singer, and commonly accepted as poet, that have much in common with this song i.m.o., for music and verses and also poetic choises.
    this author, called fabrizio de andrè, wrote a song for a woman, that we may define as "sex worker" brutally killed and thrown in the local river, back in the 60ies. since her life had been possibly miserable, de andrè decided to honour her death and all these sad stories writing this song, naming her "marinellla song" and the very first line says "this is the true story of marinella, who fell in a river in sprintime" inventing, for her, a fairytale, where a king accidentally knocked one day at her door and feel instantly in love with her, and they made love in an idilliac nature, then on her way back home, she accidentally fell in the river and drawn and the king, "who could not believe her for dead, would have knocked on her door for the further 100 years."
    as Damiano said this is to be considered as a fairitale, ad thanked her girlfriend for helping her to write/elaborate it, and since she has a tatoo with the face+name of the book chacacter, my opinion is that Damiano might have been running some traumatic experience for not been able to help a person somehow close to him, chose the name from the character bc of the tatoo and the help of her girlfriend.
    if we assume the allegoric language of de andrè similar, (the music, the composing in few point are) the son says quite clear that a girl is been abused by the father, wich causes her psyological damage, as anxiety and agoraphobia (wich precludes you to exite from the house door personal experience but also condemn you to live with you monster) then pregnangy and abortion (she has lost the fruit of her womb without even knowing love) , and finally leading her to committee siuicide, and be able to exit the house where she was the victim, and go to the castle where nothing can hurt her.
    good job, love from italy

    I know that the song is supposed to be about his girlfriend Giorgia however the copper wired hair lyrics that are so beautiful (I have a theory) is her best friend that you see her with on Instagram often. It’s such a poignant part of the song and a perfectly adorable wire haired Italian girl (rare!) in his circle might explain the lyric imo. First time viewer, loved your reaction! ♥️

    Coraline is not an existing person. They used her as an example for a person who has axiety, she doesn't know what to do, she is depressed. The story is like a fairytale that doesn't end good because the helper choose to just watch it from further. Damianos girlfriend Giorgia inspired him to write the song. But Damiano have choose not to be the guy who watches from afar. That why they use to attend the strikes and stuff togheter. So it's a really deep song
