Yup. He's the former ad-interim head coach of Arsenal.
The work he did asyouth coach at the Arsenal bringing forth Saka, Smith Rowe, and Martinelli, we will forever be grateful. He had Mertesacker and team doctor to help him through that period as interim manager andnhe went fully behind youth. And that helped Mikel so much. Proud of the boy from Halmstad.
Freddie was crazy in the 06 UCL final. I felt really bad for him as he wanted it so much. He did everything in that game but the red card eventually screwed Arsenal.
That’s what I’m saying bro I watch the highlights for the first time and Freddie cooked that match . Literally left everything ok the pitch that day . But as you said the red card and Henry not scoring that early chance lead to arsenal losing unfortunately

Ljungberg was class. He's that player where you maybe couldn't say he was world class like Henry or Vieira, but he could play on the same wavelength as those guys, and no team in the world would feel lacking for anything with him there because he could contribute and hold his own at any level with any team, and on his day (of which there were plenty) he could carry a team of superstars with his performance. He was like a Joe Cole for Chelsea, who gets far more praise because he's English.
I am a Man U fan. But watching Arsenal those years was entertaining as hell, and the games with United were like Ali-Frazer fights
Ljunberg played a huge role in our title winning teams.. such an underrated player for us!
He was, You had Lauren who gave the width and Bergkamp dropping deep and supplying those inch perfect through balls Freddie's clever little diagonal runs in behind teams were so hard to track for teams. He had magnificent acceleration too, so once he had gone it was hard for defenders to catch him and it would be all over. But he also worked hard for the team too. You regularly saw Freddie through himself in the mix on a corner against the bigger lads, he was pretty fearless.
I always remember him as being really highly rated.
I remember Alan Hansen singing his praises on match of the day.
I remember sky sports replaying his goals.
Who was underrating him?
@@NeilLewis77 its more when ppl talk about that Arsenal team you always hear about Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Cole, Vieira, where as players like Freddie, Lauren, and Gilberto esp don't get as much of a mention.
But as Freddie said everyone of those players were as important to the team as anyone and that year just about every player even the guys who came off the bench made valuable contributions when called on. Except Cygan...........whenever he had to come in I would have a mild heart attack, how we didn't lose a match with him in the team is a bigger achievement than anything in football.

Yes Henry gets a lot more attention and praise for his role in the team than Lauran but there's a good reason for that.

He was rated exactly as he should be...... As a brilliant player for club and country, a fabulous winger and a nice bloke too.

Freddie and Henry were my two favorite players that contributed to me loving arsenal
My first ever game was watching this arsenal side at Highbury when I was 7 years old. In all honesty I was so young I hated the stadium, it was cold, cramped, and dingy, but this team made up for it 1000 fold. If it was anyone else playing at Arsenal I'd be watching cricket today, but instead Henry, Bergkamp, and co made me fall in love with football. To me this'll always be the greatest team to ever exist.

As a Liverpool fan I have to say this guy is one of the best to ever grace the Premier league and that the team he was a part of ranks as one of the greatest ever.
In 2004:
1.Arsenal won the Invincibles in Premier League without a single defeatl
2.Porto and Jose Mourinho won the Champions League. Many surprises happened, such as Porto beating Manchester United, Deportivo beating Milan 4-0 after being 1-4 down, and Monaco beating Real Madrid on away goals.
3.Greece won the European Championship after beating Portugal twice; both in opening matches and a final itself. Even big teams like Spain, Germany, and Italy were dumped out in the group stage.
What a great year for football. Dark horses had conquered the football at that time.
Arsenal weren't a dark horse... They were one of the favourites..

That was a devastating Arsenal team! The combined power, speed & guile of those superstars was incredible.
The link up play between Pires/Cole was incisive, the force shield of protection of Vieira/Gilberto, Sol was a sheer force of nature, complimented perfectly with the super agile/fast Toure, and I don't even need to describe the talented duo of Henry/Bergkamp.
Fascinating analysis from a player who faced them.
The football that Invincible's team played was unbelievable, the passing and movement. But it was the mix of power pace and technique. They were a big physically imposing team with so much speed right through from back to front. They could stand toe to toe with any of the top teams today and when at their best blow them away.
Also should remember Arsenal from 01 - 04 should have won 3 titles back to back, they lead that middle season for 77 percent of the season, only to have an absolute meltdown in the last few weeks just as Man U had a crazy run of results.
And yet they drew an insane amount of games against bang average clubs lool

The ratings in FIFA05 were a bit crazy. Nikopolidis and Morientes were both 90.

@@Gearshift__ nah. There's loads of overrated players, like the two I mentioned. Bergkamp should never have been ninety when he was in his mid thirties only starting half the games and scoring four goals a season.
For example, fifteen Celtic players were rated eighty or above. Bobo Balde was an 88, does that sound right to you?
Tbf I think they took into context the leagues the teams were playing in aswell and did it individually for each league back then. Also Bergkamp was still unbelievable even in his mid 30s his game didn't really require alot of stamina at that point just pure touch.

When the focus is on going undefeated because you’ve already wrapped up the league early, you’re on a different level
There have been several teams that had the title wrapped up earlier than Arsenal did in 03/4 season.
@@danniwilder2198 the point is, only Arsenal was undefeated when they were confirmed as league champions. So they had to refocus and make sure they didn’t LOSE a game for the rest of the season.

kind of insane to see the shape Freddie has it end on is almost the exact shape we see pep, arteta and klopp have their teams shift to when attacking. Only real tweak is you wouldnt see both fullbacks up that high but even then essentially it’s the same winning formula.

Freedie was a passionate gooner who even showed the colours on his hair. This guy was flambouyant because wenger gave him free spirit. Gave them all the free spirit. Great credit to wenger, best manager then & now.
I must have watched over a hundred videos just on the Invisibles, but this was up there as one of the best. Really fascinating and insightful from Freddy.

back in this area, as a Liverpool fan you admired Arsenal. I miss this era for them. They had a team of captains through the late 90's and early 2000's I miss those days. A real team of hard men. This era of football is soft.

Both Carra and Gary Neville says they had by far the most difficulty against Arsenal 1998, 2002 and 2004. Pires especially gave them nightmares.

@jimmywenger8979 Like I said it's a domestic achievement not the same as winning European Cup that brings international prestige against the biggest clubs in the World. Ajax were unbeaten in 1995 both domestically and UCL that season a run of 48 games overall no team as ever achieved such a feat.

Yeah I hear you but all over the world the prem is regarded as the toughest league there is where the bottom team can beat the top team on any given week. If you win the champions league thats a great achievment in itself, I'm not overly familiar with dutch football but as far as im aware Ajax is a big fish in a small pond there so I'm afraid they don't get much credit for going unbeaten but for them to win the CL does show they had one of the best teams in Europe at the time for sure. :)

You've currently got City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, United, Villa, Brighton and Spurs fighting for 4th. Its now called a "Top 6" for a reason, the pool of talent is wider. It used to be the "Top 4" as they'd separate themselves away from the rest of the league. Chelsea sit 10th after spending a billion, West ham after winning the third tier European trophy sit in 9th. City remain the best team on the planet. The investment and high wages have impacted massively on creating a monster competition in England. Its without doubt the toughest it's ever been.

I'm a United fan pal, it pains me to say it but City won a treble last year for the first time in nearly 25 years and in a league where Wolverhampton can beat Man city, that is simply unheard of.
That season we won 26. Drawn 12. And Ljungberg was part of that championship season.
As an Arsenal fan, even if we win UCL in the next years, I will always feel the frustration of the loss agaisnt barcelona. This was my favorite 11 of all time.

Great analysis from the player many thought the least talented of the great 2004 Invincible first eleven. But he won the EPL Player of the Season in 2002 when Arsenal won the title as well. But he was an important part of the Invincible team.

He was a joy to watch. The assist for Freddie against Juventus is one of the greatest.

I think the Invincibles Arsenal Team is the best football team i have ever seen. Better than Pep's Barcelona and the fact they didn't win the Champions league just shows how hard it is to win. This Arsenal team were close to perfect.
Close to perfect? Yet the 2003/4 Arsenal team lost 6 games in other competitions during that season.
@danniwilder2198 My comment is based on seeing them play football and they were close to perfect in my humble opinion. At that time I was a young Chelsea fan and HATED Arsenal, but I remember that they were a ridiculously good football team.
Another scary team from that era was Dep La Coruna. They were absolutely terrifying for 2 or 3 years. As terrifying an attacking team as you will ever see. Schooled both Arsenal at Highbury and Man U at Old Trafford.

@@evangelpaul1027 The season after Arsenal went unbeaten Chelsea won the league & only lost one game. That lone defeat was a 1-0 loss at M City, a 9th min penalty. The difference between Chelsea replicating what Arsenal did came down to the ref giving M City a pen & as a result a 1-0 win. That's how close Chelsea came to repeating Arsenal's achievement.
Liverpool only lost one Prem Lge game during the 2018/19 season.
Side note: There have only EVER been 4 teams that have lost fewer than 2 league games during the season.
Arsenal 0 defeats 2003/04
Arsenal 1 defeat 1990/91
Chelsea 1 defeat 2004/05
Liverpool 1 defeat 2018/19
These are the only times a team lost fewer than 2 league games in the 146 history of English top flight football.
It's a bit surprising that the great Shankly & Paisley Liverpool teams or the great Fergie Man Utd teams never had a season where they lost fewer than 3 games.
@@danniwilder2198 good points you make but that’s exactly what I’m trying to say. Some of the greatest teams still couldn’t do it. It’s being discussed whether this Man City team of the last three years is one of the greatest that has been assembled and they haven’t been able to do it too. So I never understand why people try to downplay how great of an achievement that was.
@@evangelpaul1027 But don't you understand that teams such as Man City don't set a goal at the start of each season to remain unbeaten at all costs?
Their only goal as far as the Prem Lge is concerned is to win it, to win the league & become champions.
If the number one priority was to remain unbeaten all season, even if that meant drawing more games than they otherwise would, then we might see more teams do it.
Because instead of going onto the pitch wanting to win the game & secure 3 points, teams would be more concerned with not losing.
Going the 38 games unbeaten doesn't in itself mean a team is any better than if they won the league & lost a couple of games.
The season straight after Arsenal's unbeaten season in 03/04 saw Chelsea win the league & only losing one of their 38 games. The one defeat was a 1-0 loss at Man City, it was a 9th minute penalty that City scored.
Are you saying that if the ref hadn't given City that penalty & the game ended 0-0 & therefore Chelsea would have been unbeaten all season that it would have made that Chelsea team any better?
You need a certain amount of luck to do these things. If Chelsea had been lucky & the ref hadn't given City a penalty then that Chelsea team would have been invincible too.

The difference for this team then the other arsenal teams. Were if 1 player get injured another player picks up and scores as much as he did. For example when pires was injured freddie took over and scored lots of goals. Then when freddie got injured pires took over the goals. They were both good runners, hence no team didnt know how to mark them.

That team should have played a final in Champions in -02-03-04 period. The quality was there, the mishaps was to costly. But i honestly believe they were on pair with peps Barca in the technical aspect, the quality of the possession and the pace. Listen to Carra saying this is the toughest team he ever faced, that speaks volume.
Let's be honest they never even got close to the final in those years.

It comes to a point where it's not down to coincidence or bad luck and it's basically you aren't good enough.
Legit great teams usually have a span of 4 years or something and you get what you deserve in Sport eventually and Arsenal were never good enough for the CL.
They never experienced an elimination that was unfair.

I remember those losses during the years you mentioned, i remember Rafa's Valencia and Deportivo suffocating Arsenal's midfield. It was never a case that Arsenal were better but European teams had more nous than them.

As a teen following United through the 90s/00s this is the first team I started to respect never liked them but I did respect them because each position they had was covered with a top professional and they elevated teams that came after them to be better physically but unfortunately, you start to lose characters in Football when you have ultimate physical professionals the invincibles started it all not saying their team didn't have characters they did but this was the start of players becoming more like robots because they were that good at their roles.

Well, Barcelona we’re paying off officials during the early 2000s. Multiple teams were robbed because of corruption
