Watching those two game finales unfold side by side was insanity. Egypt very lucky to go through, but horrible bottlejob by Ghana. Also how mad is it that the first 2 group winners are Equatorial Guinea and Cape Verde? Those two countries have like 2 million pop between them, in Africa at that.

HH Ghana were never in control. Mozambique were dominating the game and Ghana were just defending and committing fouls like Burnley. Honestly we deserve to go out, our opponent has been better than us every single afcon match. Kudus was completely let down, subbed off and we concede the 2 goals right after. I gotta disagree slightly tho on yhe concept of that Egypt team being bad. Its a good team. They aren't as good as the classic Egypt sides but their ability to grind results is basically what has made them be in the conversation in all these recent AFCONs so even without Salah they can make a final. I'd actually argue that without him they play with less pressure coz the team can focus on the team and worry less about deferring to their star. But of course they are stronger with him fully firing. But in terms of hoe organised they are they've always been a rugged side with or without him.
If im Egypt and i make the final without him I'd low-key bench him coz Hamza was mentioning in the Talking Tactics discord that there could be a scary scenario where Salah does a Kane. Remember when Kane played for Spurs in that UCL final injured and dropped a stinker. So if youre Egypt and Salah only makes it back for the final do you actually start him? Coz you might be safer bringing him off the bench and letting the regular starters start, the mistake that Poch made with Lucas Moura v Kane.

It's similar to the Ivory Coast thing where they are playing like absolute bums but their team is in that middle tier range with some average strength and average weaknesses. But not like a glaringly bad sides where they shouldn't be going deep into the tournament
