- Yggdra Union is easily the most recognizable entry in the Dept. Heaven franchise... Probably because it's actually really good without being insanely weird.
What will you do to win, and what will need to be sacrificed by the end of it? That's the central question asked by Yggdra Union, towards both the player of the game and Yggdra herself.

More like Milanor Union since in my playthrough he carried my literal ass so hard by solo-ing almost every single boss in the game, Gulcasa didn't stand any chance at all against Steal and Gravity Chaos.
Heck, I even maxed out his stat by the time I rescued Yggdra
Milanor the absolute overpowered chad. I remember sending him out to fight everyone and he would just obliterate regardless of weapon matchup. Except Gulcasa of course, that guy is cracked.
Yggdra Union is the best fire emblem game. Yes I am comparing apples and carrots.
If pushed, I might say that Yggdra is my favourite game. One of the few strategy games where I had to put real thought into each and every move. Complicated at first, but amazing once it clicks. I prefer the PSP port mainly because you can also speed up battles (something you didn’t mention). Seeing the card special attack animations is cool at first but can quickly get tiring after you’ve seen the same one a dozen times!
I love complicated games that don’t hold your hand and aren’t afraid to show you the game over screen if you play badly.
I’m really happy someone is covering this series! It often gets overlooked unfortunately. See you in Knights in the Nightmare!

I'd really love a Blaze Union video, as it is my favorite out of the "union" games and my 2nd favorite game in the Dept. Heaven franchise

Yggdra Union is a game I both love and could never recommend to anyone lol
Its mechanics make perfect sense in a vacuum, but appear needlessly arbitrary and restrictive in execution. It's a one-player board game, but it doesn't work to integrate its mechanics with its narrative. Cards are only ever mentioned once in the dialogue, for example.
All of the games tactical nuance and difficulty are front loaded. By the time you get access to La Pucelle, you're en route to maxing out at least 2-3 characters, making the last stretch's most effective strategy to bum rush the opposition with your 5-LUK characters backed by whatever high powered cards you have in your arsenal, (most likely some combination of Steal, Shield Barrier, Ace Guard, and Gravity Chaos,) since the Ace system adds an arguably unnecessary restriction on the skills the player is able to use.
...I promise that I actually love this game! 😅

One of my favorite 100%, cleared it 14 times like wtf now thinking back, but there are truly soo many secrets that you get something new every play through, and the game mechanics keeps you engaged, I heard people criticizing for its move mechanics, like "Why the fak is the total movement shared, I move one unit and now all my other units can't move at all", I can understand it being pretty counterintuitive from all the other war chess games, but I actually was never bothered by that from the very beginning, so for other players I think people can get use to it pretty easy. The only problem that I think the game has is the cards, some cards are soo strong that you use them all the time while some are sooo bad that you'll never use it, on its own it's not a big problem, if it's bad just don;t use it then, but the thing is: a lot of the strong cards are weapon locked or class locked, in another word: some characters' weapon and class made them unable to use a lot of the good cards, YES, I'm talking to you Russell! He is a secret character that you need to spend extra effort to recruit him, and after you went the extra mile, you found out that he is complete trash because he can not activate almost all the good card skills, and I hated that.
Makes me wanna try Russell but atleast he isnt Cruz.
@@soratheorangejuicemascot5809 I'll suggest not lol, cause you know the most hated point of him is that, while Mirano's exclusive card steal you items, Russell's exclusive card destroys them, and has less move. Cruz is really bad too yeah, he is bad to the point that I literally forgot that such a character exists and have to google it lol.

The main problem with Russell is that you really don't want to field multiple units with the same weapon class, and Yggdra is so much better than he is
dude, my first experience with this game was on GBA emulation site. little did i know I would spend the entirety of my senior doing trying to conquer this evil little game. If I ever made a strategy game, this would probably be very similar to what it'd look like. I love every design decision but dear god did the GBA version make me rage.
