I've watched virtually every Lemmy interview CZcams has to offer over the years but this has to be the most personal interview I've ever seen of him. Great upload.
Always found Lemmy impressive when he was interviewed. Under the humour there was a clearly reasoned-out intelligence. Totally his own man, for good or bad.
Lemmy was, more than anything, a man who had no illusions about himself. That line "not anymore. Now I was a fact" sums it up. He just existed as himself, didn't fall victim to believing his own legend, and stayed genuine.
5 years gone and I still miss him. This is the first time I've seen this interview, what an intelligent, honest man he was. I met him back around 79/80 in a bar, when Motorhead were at the peak of their success. He was with a load of people, but he still took a few minutes to talk with me and my friend, who were both probably pissed at the time!
6:23 - 6:42 "That's for me" is a rather clear answer. I, for one, would've moved on to something else. Lemmy always gave thoughtful and direct answers to proper questions, but he didn't necessarily suffer fools gladly. It wasn't a foolish question the *first* time, but...take the hint, sir. 😐 As always with Lemmy, that was fascinating. Thank you very much for the video! 🤘 😀
Exactly how i feel about being alone. My mates are always sating i cant believe you go here on your own and there alone, i still like people but you cant keep anyone happy for any length of time so you should use your time and energy making yourself happy, while treating others with respect thats due.
I honestly believe if Lemmy hadn't been a rockstar , he'd have been successful and perhaps famous in some other vocation. He's charismatic without trying to be.
He’s so sharp. He really is interesting to be therapised (because he’s so much healthier in mind than people assume) not that i’d want to torture him in that way.
Intelligent, articulate, witty, funny, creative, just, fair and genuinely nice guy was our Lem. Fucking great bassist, stunning vocalist and rock 'n roll icon too. What a legend! Thanks for all you gave us Lemmy.
"I was never dominated by my mother" good use of words. that is what going on most of the time between parents and their kids. pure domination and control. and it poisons innocent lives. The worst part is starting to feel that poison in your 30s where everything float on the surface
I love Lemmys soul! Lemmys childhood was very much like my own! A loner ! I raised my self. My parents didn't give a hoot about my mental health.. Lemmy describes my upbringing perfectly. Lemmy is a brave and truthful man. I love Lemmys outlook on life!
Two things I noticed. Despite the embarrassing nature of some of the questions he never lost his patience and answered intelligently. And second of all he didn’t use a single curse word, which is more than you can say for a lot of people who leave comments on CZcams.
This has to be one of the best interviews that I've ever seen. Not only is Lemmy cool and collected, but we can get a small glimpse into how the man functioned. Fantastic bit of footage, thanks for uploading!
I kept expecting Lemmy to get mad during this, but he knew that would have pleased this prick interviewer, he is too smart and classy for that sort of reaction
I am so impressed by his self awarness and also the boundaries, when it comes to the topic he doesnt want to speak about. You really can see on his eyes he knows what game is being played during the talk about the love. The interviewer ended up being embarrasing🤣 i am such a idiot when 10 years ago i didnt go to get sinatures from Motörhead when they played at local metal festival🙄🙏🏼
Lemmy was a true role model on how to live your life to the fullest (no matter what age you are). He has always admitted to living for pleasure in the moment and never condoned or influenced anyone to do what he does; simply because he's Lemmy. Sums it upright here @8:28
I'm having to watch old clips of lemmy that I've all ready seen just to remind my self that once upon a time there was bands n festivals n vinyl and cds and shops that sold the bloody things and good culture. What the fu.... Happened.... At least lemmy didn't get locked down. He would have moved in to the whiskey 🥃 haha. Here's to you lemmy 🥃 and another 🥃. For the road. You was a legend. But more importantly you was a one off. And I need that lemmy humour right now. Take care all
I remember this from 1st time around. Great interview. I don't get the hate for the interviewer. He does his job well and let's not forget it's for television (and edited). I've never seen an interview like this where Lemmy truly thinks about the questions. I think it must have been a refreshing change of interview style for him. It's also interesting as I've just watched this after seeing the awful Emma Freud in bed interview. I bet her Great Grandfather would have been a great interviewer! Thanks for the upload.
I agree with you about the change of interview style. The questions were probing but respectful enough and I'm guessing he was at least briefed beforehand that this would be a particular kind of interview and agreed to proceed. In the end it yielded some very interesting info and views from Lemmy so kudos for that. As for hate.. well who hasn't gotten a bit sniffy on their hero's behalf at some point :)
Got to say this is the best lemmy interview I've seen so far Really funny really personal And two really funny parts in the interview lemmys ex girlfriend Getting married in a register office Interviewer says was the relationship over classic lemmy
Just watched a Dave brock interview where he said lemmy used to read a lot of books. ( shareda room for a bit)Well if you’ve taken enough speed for 3 people and everyone else is snoring you’ve got time enough to read.
"I don't mind being alone, for whatever reasons. And I believe that I'm doing the best I can in my life and not hurting anybody doing it. And that's enough for me."
As honest as Lemmy is, I really think there's some real deprived pain deep down in him and he's just been numb to it for so long he forgot it's there. I don't agree with him not being there for his kid, but he's too lost to know. But, his outlook works for life, and like he said, he doesn't mind being alone, and he's not hurting anyone, and that's enough for him. Same goes for me. Amen
The Sharp Wild Honesty. A wolf interrogated by livestock. The shrink is obviously trying to measure Lem against some Freudian idea of a "normal" person but Lem was perfect according to Lem and that was the only thing worth minding for him. Personally I live entirely different than Lemmy but he remains as my greatest inspiration. He tells me thai I don't have to be perfect according to anyone else than myself.
Also gotta remember that he made choices he can live with. I’ve never heard a story of Lemmy hurting someone for example. Not even the trail of women he left behind seem to have any hard feelings. The man was moral to the core even if it wasn’t always in socially acceptable ways. If i was gonna explain a Lemmy philosophy to a child it’d be literally be yourself and harm no person more than they deserve. There’s nothing original about what we can learn from Lemmy, but the way he did it is just extremely impressive. Even his son being fatherless was of no fault of Lemmy’s
The patience Lemmy had with dumb questions from witless interviewers revealing absolutely nothing new about the man is highly commendable, it’s way beyond tolerance, something much deeper than empathy and my own tolerance for idiots - but I ain’t no nice guy. What a rare gem of an interview; if you give up watching this then you’ll also miss possibly the single most revealing interview of Lem and the layers are cleverly peeled away to his very core. Great upload, clever interview, and a very rare insight into the man we all admire and miss. Brilliant. Thank you for sharing this.
Dont try to pick lemmys brain as you will be hit by intelligence of the highest level LK ..THE GUVNOR ... KEEP ON ROCKING IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM MATE ...YOU ARE THE ACE OF SPADES ....

Yeah, he apparently never quite got over an early girlfriend who had a heroine overdose, you can see how relationships not working out following that might lead him to conclude it's best to be alone.

Motorhead - 1988 Network 7 - Lemmy interview
Lemmy was such a fantastic mix of classic brit, cynic, jester, tough guy, happy kid, musician, genius and philanthropist. Totally unique.

And this interviewer is a total idiot
The most honest and unpretentious man I've ever seen, fantastic guy!!
Give him a whiskey and cigarettes and you will get a awesome story
The most genuine cat in the music industry ,Good Soul !The world is at a loss without Lemmy !
Hard to believe he was taking so much drugs and drinking all the time when he seams more sober then most people in every interview
Always found Lemmy impressive when he was interviewed. Under the humour there was a clearly reasoned-out intelligence. Totally his own man, for good or bad.
The more I see of Lemmy, the more I admire him. What a fella!
Yep, one of a kind.
Lemmy was, more than anything, a man who had no illusions about himself. That line "not anymore. Now I was a fact" sums it up. He just existed as himself, didn't fall victim to believing his own legend, and stayed genuine.

"you were a fiction in her mind?"
"Not anymore, no. I was now a fact" lol
Lemmy is very articulated and intelligent here....guy was a very clever man...sadly missed.
Speed helps.
What a guy! So smart, honest, unpretentious and articulate.
Neither gone nor forgotten! 👑👑
Really intrusive questions handled with genuine intelligence.
It doesn't hurt that Lemmy had balls and no shame in a good way. Dude was rock n roll through and through.
They aren't intrusive. He's literally being asked questions by a psychiatrist. Not a normal interview.
Good questions with honest answers.

Jesus it's been 5 years already.
I would imagine Lem was also drunk
The interviewer thought he was going to teach Lemmy a few things but Lemmy taught the interviewer a few things instead. Never judge a book...
lol - I love it when interviewers try to Freud the Buddha. Howard Stern tried this with Willie Nelson

The interviewer is very good and Lemmy obviously enjoys that deep questioning.

Most people who hear Motorhead's music are stunned to find out how intelligent, self aware and insightful Lemmy was...
Maybe there was some kind of abuse in his childhood, he escaped through the loudness...
Most artists are. You can't make art if you're a stuttering brain dead moron. It's just not possible. Not a successful one, at least.
Not really because it reflects in his music. Maybe if you were just a casual fan and judge him by the way he looks then yeah.
Most people are imbecile's.
