    Great tutorial! 👍🏿 I'll be changing rear brake pads on my bmw f31 320d xdrive and I hope it ain't gonna be complicated.
    Is it compulsory to also change brake sensor wear?

      Thank you. I’m not entirely sure about the sensors, I’ve always changed them when doing the brakes. I’ve read that if the countdown on the dashboard hasn’t reached zero they can be reset without replacing them but I have no personal experience of this.

    You did a good job but since you had the calipers disassembled you could clean them well and paint them, so you really did a good job! I hope you used a mask, brake pad dust is highly carcinogenic!

    Good afternoon, what diameter disc did you put on them? Thank you very much, greetings...

    Only thing i would have done would be to used some anti seize behind the disc to stop corrosion setting in making it easy to remove next time around.

      @IAMASPANNER  Před 2 lety

      I sometimes do but have to be careful that debris doesn’t stick to the grease and get trapped behind the disc as it can cause runout.

      I use my local motor factors which is currently GSF car parts. You’ll probably have a local Euro Car Parts and others too but you won’t always get great prices as a retail customer. I’ve managed to secure decent prices or failing that use my friend’s garage.

    what is your experience with the delphi pads? How much dust do they produce?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 2 lety

      I haven’t paid enough attention to other types to noticed whether they create more or less than others. They’re a good quality aftermarket brand that’s why I use them. My V70 front wheels do get pretty covered in brake dust in a few weeks with them though.

    Would have been a good idea as well to get the bucket out with hot soapy water and gently clean off the road salt from the shock absorbers and other areas which are prone to rust.

      Not inside my unit but I agree otherwise. Nothing that a jet wash can’t sort. The very reason I was changing all the discs was due to winter corrosion when I left my car parked on a main road in winter for 3 weeks.

    What spray do you use on discs to remove the oil ?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 2 lety

      Brake cleaner, you can get it from any car part supplier in aerosol cans or 5 litre bottles.

    The copper grease is necessary or is it possible to do the work without it??

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před rokem

      Copper grease is necessary on the contact surfaces for many reasons.

    Hi did you have to adjust the hand brake after fitting new discs .

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 2 měsíci

      As the parking brake is drum in disc as long as there’s not a lip on the old drum (and you don’t have to slacken it off to remove it) you should be able to get away without any adjustment.

      @englishsteve2205 Před 2 měsíci

      I see what you mean I've done 45000.on my 420d so they maybe a lip . Already done the front that was easy as I was getting pulsating through braking and steering wheel.wobble now that has gone but at low speed say 10pmh or less sounds like the rear discs are catching so Cound be build up of rust on the edges so looks like a new set of discs and pads cheers mt8 👍
