I had no idea the shuttle bays for this class were on the top of the sphere like that... I thought they were in the front.? love that you chose to tackle a non traditional class of ship..

We don't have any official schematics or even basic layout stuff (or size for that matter!) for the Daedalus so I felt free to improvise. When needed I took inspiration from the NX-01.
My head canon is these predated the NX-01, but after the Earth-Romulan war started United Earth needed something cheap they could produce to augment their fleet. This specific subclass being designed with upgrades from the NX program included. Warp 5 class engine, Photonic Torpedoes etc.
A lot of fun questions you have to find an answer for or invent when doing a project like this!

Such a talented artist, yet you’ve fallen for the NuTrek aesthetic trap - where in chasing edgier, grey, dark, dingy, dystopian visuals - we can’t see anything. I have my screen up at maximum brightness and your beautiful models are too dark. NuTrek doesn’t look edgy to me, it just looks pretentious and like it’s trying too hard.

Since Trek mostly happens in deep interstellar space you really shouldn't be able to see anything that is not lit.
The stark white photogenic models were never realistic to the situation. They were easier to look at on a 480p vacuum tube TV in 1966...especially a B&W one...
Since Star Trek is future fantasy I guess it is individual preference like does Jeannie's smoke need to be pink or should Samantha twitch her nose.
