Alberta. Dave
Absolutely brilliant collection and such a kind gesture for those of us 'aspiring and learning'. Thank you for the once in a lifetime opportunity and good luck to the eventual winner !
wow, some beauties in that collection. I would love an hour with that martin guitar.
What a beautiful thing to do. You are just like you're playing. Full of heart.
I wish he'd do it every week
Martin's 00045 is out of this world! What an amazing guitar!!!
yes, she is a beauty :)
Exactly, it sent shivers to me!
Wow I wish I knew about the competition when it live, what a prize. Thanks for sharing Martin, I'll have to be satisfied with just playing my Yamaha AEX1500 Martin Taylor. All the best N&J🎸
Super nice gesture to let someone come and play those....That vintage Martin is pure magic, I can even tell just listening through laptop speakers
Wow! Such an amazing player! And also comes across as such a likeable person whenever i watch his videos! So generous and hospitable to allow access to a wonderful collection of guitars and to take pleasure in sharing them with others in his private studio! What a gent!
Wow, Just now seeing this. I saw you play at the musician's hall in Peoria, IL probably late 70s early 80s. I had the pleasure of knowing Bill Barker and took a few lessons from him. He was a great teacher.
The Val Doonican story made me cry. .... as Beautiful as the Guitar ITSELF.
The sweater story was hilarious! Thanks for sharing :D
I was spellbound, thank you Martin for posting
I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for a well produced video! Beautiful guitars there and my favorite is the 000-45! Fabulous, articulate, and very pleasant to the ear. I have a 000-28 VS! The stripped down version without the Abalone and binding! I adore it!
What a wonderful man you are. I’ve played guitar for most of my life. You are a treasure to the meaning of beautiful music from the guitar. Thank you so much. Mike Walker
Never mind Martin Taylor but the gesture of Val Doonican is unbelievable.
Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful guitar collection. and the really interesting stories attached to your instruments.
Beautiful playing on the old Martin. Thankyou
What an amazing collection. Thanks for sharing..
Val Doonican's very guitar, I used to admire that one as a kid too! Incredible story. That is quite a collection
a guitar recording ? a hug is enough for me, a hug is enough, taylor.
Amazingly gracious offer to any and all guitar enthusiasts !
I'm learning to much to u sir, I'm singer , 🎺 player, which I used acoustic guitar for vlogging in gig in Thailand as duo or solo , which my Uncle will arrive in 29th with u're book bass lines , which I asked for my Dad as a token of learning ... More power and likewise very truthful sense. Thx godspeed
Your competition is a wonderful gesture
Been a long while since Haugesund Jazz and talking about 'George Formby and your uke days on the flight home.....I was the banjo player in the oposite seat....that's got you scratching your head!!! Best wishes and continued success Martin from Sean Moyses.
My old pal Lew Fournier pointed me in Martin Taylor's direction. Wow!
Hi!! Martin,
what a wonderful guitar collection,
that is killing me right now..
if only that were still true.. a great experience for a now old jazz guitarist.. great collection, cheers for sharing a bit of it.. 🎸😎
Wow that 000 45 martin is amazing :))) what a gift. It's like giving someone a Ferrari haha even better IMO
That Eddie Lang model has some punch to it
Thanks Martin ! you are very lucky to get so good guitar !! Thierry from France
What a true ledge and a gentleman.
Your generous and full of heart.
Thanks for your inspiration Martin….brilliant…
love this guitar collection
Thank you Martin...
Great stories. I chased the perfect instrument for me my whole life. After a few custom builds a couple came close but still lacked something. I thought I would never experience the thrill of owning a guitar perfect for me. I was wrong. Enter Matt Eich of Mule Resophonic Guitars. He built a tricone steel body for me that feels like an extension of me. Sold all the other instruments, and my Mule will one day be passed on as a family heirloom for many decades.
And so cool for you to invite someone!
I would love to see another video with the 1929 Martin ...!
good stuff Martin.
MARTIN TAYLOR ?
BENSON. Rien à dire et à redire. Martin Taylor est un "grand maître" !
Beautiful
my favorite living guitarist...
I have a Yami aex500 im a bass player mostly. Sometimes i let the boys use my guitar.
So far ive located 2 more and got them for the boys. They prefer it to their strats and teles for a lot of tunes. Thankyou Martin for this wonderful design.
Thanks for sharing..Cant wait to see you in manchester 2015 band on the wall
Love the Val doonican story ,I remember that show ,
wow nice guitars Martin.
Amazing!!!
Brilliant!
Thank you for showing us around Martin, from one guitar player to another. Ok we love guitars. Problem, few incl. wives understand, plus the ever present guilt factor. 'Extravagance' etc. etc... How about this? Does an artist paint with just one brush? Heard that or got another for us? Ps. I love the Masterpiece Guitars CD. Also love to know what other instruments you have too? I once thought that the more guitars one has, the lesser the player. Now not so sure! Peace and Love.
Thanks 🙏 My friend
Wonderful !!!
You're a saint! Thank you!
Oh man, I'm five years too late to enter that competition! Life is cruel.
Yeah
No sandwiches for us.
Thank you for sharing. I am a hobbyist luthier. It would be interesting to know the weights of the archtops. In the literature there is much difference in weights from 4.6lbs to 8.2lbs for archtop guitars. Based on the demonstration and published size + weight of an instrument, one can make decent guesses on how the instrument is built (bracing, thickness of top and back etc). Weight details would be great information for those of us who like to make archtop guitars.
This guy is such a modest gent too
Wowzer
What's the song he plays on the Barker guitar?
Sir, the honour of MBE is well in order.
My fav guitaris
wow that martin is killer
jesus christ that 00045
*wipes tears*
The Martin 000 looks so different from the modern 14-fret shape. Looks more like a classical guitar.
Hi Martin, you inserted a key to your room and opened a door, but you forgot to take that key from the key hole, didn't you? Just felt a bit strange by leaving your key in key hole.. I guess it is a fault of director or producer of this clip, isn't it? :)
the irony, he owns a martin
If I were him, I would have a bunch of Martin and Taylor guitars around my house.
So who won? Did you post a video to YT of the winner's recording session? ;o)
Exactly my thought. :)
What song did he play on the wg barker guitar
My object all sublime I shall achieve in time….
What make is the Val Doonican guitar?
"I'll be next door making the sandwiches..." Just imagine!?
Does anyone know the first song he played at 1:29 ?
Talk about winning the golden ticket to the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory... such an amazing opportunity. #QuiteEnvious =D
I met Martin and Martin Simpson at their duo gig here in Seattle. They were such extraordinarily lovely chaps.
0:29 takes off his boots only to wear some shoes in the next scene lol =)
I think all of us could scream over guitars lost, but I, too, had a Barker, at the recommendation of Mary Osborne who I got to hang out with. Want to scream every time I think of having to let it go because of money. All is true-like a nice pair of comfortable shoes, the minute you play it, you feel 'at home'...Darn it...
Dear Fred, truer words have been never said. One day the wife said `choose one and sell it'. Then a few more times and now there's nothing left- like dead friends. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't get married!
You know you got a good guitar when it plays you.
who won the guitar , i know i could never afford one but i love listening to Martin Taylor play it i have an old velencia guitar it sound disgusting compared to one of martin Taylors guitars
first song he plays?

You story about Val Doonican reminded me of hanging out in Johnnie Smiths music store on Saturday afternoons. Johnnie was always behind the counter noodling around on his D'Angelico, smoking his pipe and telling stories about his career. He eventually sold the D'Angelico and used the proceeds to buy an airplane. He claimed he never received an penny in royalties for his recording of Moonlight in Vermont blaming unscrupulous mangers and record companies.
of course you should not sell the val guitar you should give it to someone as a gift, like you got it! as a present!
@bloodyfrets "One Day"..
Giorgio Dabizzi ry
he must get alot of jokes about Martin's and Taylor's
This is great stuff and really interesting, Lovely stories. Presentation spoilt rather by intrusive background music. Shame!
MBE Me!
i thought it was martin taylor from Fifa xD
What, no Jackson? 🤣
