10 Examples of Murphy's Law in Hollow Knight! Whether it be gangbanged by your local colony of primal aspids, or losing to the very last enemy of the Colosseum of Fools, these are the 10 indisputable laws of the Hollow Knight universe!!

#HollowKnight - Hry
rule of Hollow knight. when you miss a platform for any reason, you will always dodge any platform in your way down attempting to land on any of them, effectively and super efficiently, cannon balling to the pool of acid at the bottom.
true
and always while carrying the stupid flower
This is all so true.
Was about to say this. ESPECIALLY common in Kingdom's Edge and Howling Cliffs.
but when you want to just plunge to the bottom, the game somehow pulls a platform out of your fractured but whole, which you probably know is there, to stop you just enough so you have time to feel the shame of yourself.
Or, as you fall, you get intercepted by a flying enemy, or an enemy on the exact platform you landed on.
Rule: There is a faster way to get to where you want to go. . .you will find it after you need it.
Mantis lords’ lifeblood chamber...
@@aliced.3799 I'm sorry. The WHAT?
@@trickytreyperfected1482 there’s a room with lifeblood cocoons right next to the mantis lords’ fight
@@aliced.3799 WHERE
@@Rhobeni I recommend you just look up a video for convenience but I can try and explain, it’s in the same room as the mantis lords. If you wall jump all the way up at the top left side of the room and destroy the top of the wall at the top left corner you’ll find a hidden room with a lifeblood cocoon. Hope that helps 🖤
Rule: You will always make the crossroads infected before starting the flower quest
my first playthrough i done flower quest just after got monarch wings...this quest is a pain in the @ss
Nah, easy af without infection
I will, suffer, A LOT
I wonder if it’s possible to not have it infected for that quest…
@@EternalDevotion11 yes, just don't take any dreamer or the monarch wings, this will infect the crossroads
addition to rule 2, even though geo is worthless it will still always hurt to die twice and lose massive ammounts of it
That has never happened to me…

Rule 11: whenever you are fighting a boss, you will miraculously get farther in the fight than you ever have before, only to die and spend the next 6 or 7 tries getting completely creamed by the boss
Zoroark MI and repeat
YES!!!!
Exactly what I did with soul master
That is a rule applicable to most games tbh and I hate it
That’s what happened to me in the pure vessel fight
no matter how easy a boss is, once you get hit you begin spiraling downwards to defeat

Is like misstepping on a dance choreography and losing your tempo
Me on the Nailmasters. Acing perfectly and then the first time they hit me I suddenly cant dodge any of their attacks anymore
@@Vanamonde not only you cant dodge their attacks anymore, but you find yourself actively dashing INTO the boss' attacks
mhm
Rule: you will almost always live the longest on 1 hp when fighting bosses but the moment you equip fury of the fallen it now becomes the shortest moment
That's cuz you become reckless trying to soak hits
Rule 11: During Hornet's fight in Kingdom's Edge, you will almost definitely find yourself obsessing over the spike balls and getting killed trying to get rid of them, either by Hornet stabbing you through your throat while you're trying to get one, or you running into it like a moron instead of hitting it and feeling like you just failed the most simple task in the entire freaking game.
For like my first 20 attempts of that fight I wasn’t aware you could hit them away
Rule #20 you will attempt to dreamnail every possible thing in the game from person to interactible even benches twice
yes
True
And enemies
Actually, if you dream nail the bench next to the Leg Eater (In Fungal Wastes) it says “Why?”
@@evagarcia865 you can dream nail benches???
Rule 11: Every enemy has a pattern, until killing them is actually important. That is the only time their pattern will break and they become an RNG nightmare.
Seriously, fuck RNG. I legit ready to pay for stable seed dlc
*Grey Prince zote enters chat*
I so hate Markoth and GPZ in PoH. Not only they are bosses who makes lot of damage and with little to none opportunities to heal, but they are also put together. So whenever I beat Markoth I get instantly killed by the other dumbass :( I just want to get to AR so I can practice in hall of gods and finish PoH, but those two are ruining my run.
*glares at Mantis Lords*
Word yo.
Another rule: when spike pogoing, you will always miss one and have to do the whole thing over again
I some times press the nail button before down arrow and I end up striking horizontally 😭
@@arpitkumar4525 that always happens to me in path of pain and it gives me depression
You will always feel a sudden sadness, whether it’s over a character, a place, or even if it’s just randomly sad with no bad thing happening
Rule 11: bringing a companion charm into fog canyon can only end in disaster
Learned this one doing the grey mourner flower quest.
I learned this one when I before I got the map and on my way to get my shade back since I didn't notice the what the fuck was setting shit off.
I always brought the dream shield. Woof
Went into that little maze thing for the charm notch. Ended up getting hit by an Ooma with Thorns of Agony and it all went to shit.
having not played the game what happens?
You will heal two masks and lose both of them instead of healing just one.
best one
When you heal 3 you lose 5
Wat is 9:36??
I feel called out
I'm being personally attacked and I don't like it
Man, how nostalgic it is hearing the phrase “getting stomped by Mantis Lord over and over again”. I still remember that feeling when I died, multiple times, got up, and tried again until I won.
When I first hit mantis lords I lost 1000 geo to losing my shade on my way back. I farmed at least 1200 from just killing every mantis on the way back to the fight over and over again after that
IK know its been a year but i have to ask, did you upgrade your nail to beat them?
rule 11: on your first playrough, there's this one really good charm you could have get ages ago, but you missed it, and after you finally found it, you have to spend only the last 20-30% of the game with it
yes, I found shape of uun only after defeating the hollow knight and now I'm angry about it

Rule 11: When fighting a boss, your first attempt is always the best one. If you die, it all goes downhill from there. The only times I’ve beat hard bosses is when I came back to them after an hour or so and did it first try.
Same bro I done THK first try then i just kept on dying
for number 6, quitting the game and reloading gets you to the last bench you were at, so if you do pause before death, it's best to just do that instead of pressing continue
it helps a lot in steel soul
some people kinda consider it cheating though
@@m1n3c4rt i mean, fair i guess, but it doesn't super feel like it since it IS something you can do without outright exploiting the game
I kinda consider it cheating since that takes away the whole reason you would play that mode in the first place but I did it for the achievement and couldn’t be bothered to play through the game in steel mode a fourth time.
@@SourCoffeeExpert it is definitely intended to not be played with quitting as a free get out safe mechanic, but if it's there and you want it, why not, yknow
this very mechanic is what saved my steel soul run 3 times- Once to flukemarm and twice to traitor lord
Law 11: You will try to heal at a stupid time.
Law 12: There will always be at least one charm you cannot go without. For me, Longnail.

HK rule if you do multiple playthroughs: "Hold on, did I get this mask shard or that one?"

One of my rules: you WILL forget about every single secret room/breakable wall on your second playthrough. I literally forgot how to save Bretta, and it was only until I watched this video that I remembered how to get to the geo stash in King’s Station.
“You always have enough geo”
**laughs in divine**
I was thinking about that when he said about the geo, i had a hard time on the Colosseum trying to get enough
@@TheActualAqua
I farmed the Great Husk Sentries. Set up a build for spells and get Flukenest, and your basic spell will kill them in two blasts (sometimes three, but you can just whack them once with your nail to finish them off instead). Head straight to the bench in the Stag Station after you've killed the 4 directly outside to respawn them. They drop ~80 each if you have Fragile/Unbreakable Greed, and you can kill all four of them in just a couple minutes. Plus another 60 or so from the fancy noble husks you pick off along the way. It's pretty dull and repetitive, but not too dangerous.
OrionoftheStar I farm the jumpers in kingdoms edge. You leave the screen and come back. There’s four every time and they each drop about 20. Really fast especially if they’re all clumped together.
Noah Caelum I went to the failed tramway because it gives so much money and I like deepnest
@@matthewloiselle8430 you should be feared

Rule: The soul you "saved" by not using spells to kill an enemy faster will be spent on healing yourself because you took a bullshit hit to the face.
Yes. Descending Dark/Desolate Dive instead of Heal
Especially with primal aspids
the path of pain taught me the art of the pure focus that the entire soul sanctum put hundreds of lives and hours into
HK rule: one time you learn pogo jump (aka down slash), you will do in any place, even in a normal floor
I still try to wavedash in hollow knight. it just feels so right.
A. I will ALWAYS try and pogo jump wherever I can.
B. I will randomly wave dash when I'm bored in trying to 112% my playthrough
i thought i had fucking OCD doing that all the time. thank god i im not the only one
Does it ever teach you that you can actually do this? I googled what to do when I got stuck at the bouncy mushrooms, and apparently I'm not alone
@@privatizitat815 technically no. But if you find the room with the grub and platforms leading up to it with spikes, it slightly encourages experimenting.
I didn't even know they were called primal aspids, I just called them bastard flys
God may damn them for all eternity
Also known as fuzzy fuck butts
The one you fuck you up in the tournament of fool
I've started playing this about a month ago, and they are winged twats to me. I really hate those things
Bastard flies is also accurate
3:11 In order to buy everything, you'll have to farm geo eventually. There's no way you'll have enough just by killing enemies and getting geo deposites on the way or turning all the relics in. Those unbreakable charms aren't cheap,
I mean, If you arent Farming Geo and doing an 100% run, you have at least everything bought and (without unbreakable Charms) 9000 Geo left, so yea you have to farm, but not that much
Or die to a boss mutiliple times....
6:50 well, you always can quit to the menu, load your game again and wake up on your last visited bench.
HK iron rule: Even if the boss was playing pasive, the moment you start healing, the boss gonna jump stright to you or send a minion to do the same thing and let you just with one mask and suffering a little longer before killing you... i'm watching you lost brother vessel.
Rule Against Broken Vessel/Lost Kin. It doesn’t matter what the hell the thing is doing, it doesn’t matter if you’re out of his dashes range. As soon as you use Focus, that butthole is GOING TO JUMP right into you.
Tip, facetank him. Joni, strength, heart, grub.
Same for Lost kin, just add on defenders crest.
I know you already beat him by now but, it’s here for whoever needs it
*me not having any charms and just trying to kill it*
Mushroom spores was my savior on this one. Instant killing the ghosts 😁
Lost kin took me so many tries..... then I found out you could hide in one of the top corners, equip almost every single companion that exist, and just keep staying in the corner while my spiders, exploding flies, and Grimm child do all the work for me
Hollow knight law for me personally:
"oh god i finally defeated soul master"
Soul master: "lol."

He do be like that for every play through.
I'm literally sitting here listening to #9 and I'm like "i think ive seen everything", only for him to put some giant thing onscreen at 9:11 that i have never seen even in other youtube videos
that is an NPC in Kingdoms Edge, located a bit under Coloseum i believe (you also find the other end of the being in Kingdoms Edge, lower and more to the right i think)
@@bb-im6hf yeah ive found him now but thanks
Number 4 really resonates with me. I had been stuck on the failed champion for ages. I was tucked in the left corner of the room, trying to avoid his attacks and I didn't realize he was on the last stage and was about to break through the floor. When he broke that the floor, the wall that was holding me in place disappeared. I was so happy, and shocked that I did it, that I forgot I was still holding down the left move button and ran off the edge of the platform before I could finish the fight. I wanted to die.
The law of always saving Zote the first time you meet him and then regretting it for the rest of the plauthroigh.
Yeah
So true
I always regret leaving him, i love finding him in the stupidest places
How do you not save him?
The first time you encounter him (in Greenpath somewhere), just walk on by him. Check back there later in your quest to see if he's ok...
I love that there's a whole entire law about primal aspids
Snot Mcvomitson primal bastards
Primal aspids, crystal hunters, and soul twisters, the unholy trio.
They deserve 3
@@asonfrederick1126 A Soul Twister killed me on my way to Soul Master and I lost like 3000 geo (ik it isn't a ton but at that point in the game it felt like a lot) and long story short I either kill them in sight or run away as fast as possible now
@@asonfrederick1126 I really enjoy fighting the soul twisters. soul master/tyrant is probably my fav boss. But agree with aspids and hunters!
After my first playthrough I realized what a god you become like bosses that literally made me punch holes in walls before are now laughable and I love that feeling
A law that applies to me: I am shit at platforming or boss fights that requires me to use down striking with the nail.
Rule 14: In a boss fight where you haven't taken damage yet. The second you do, you will likely panic and take even more damage. Effectively lower your chance to win by a decent margin and letting the boss shove his meter long nail right up your behind.
(True story for my first playthrough. Loved the video too because around half of them applied to me.)
Same!!!
Only Half?!?
Facts
This is why I lose to the Broken Vessel 7 times
I still get my ass kicked by traitor lord even tho I'm on my second playthrough his attacks are so choreographed it should be easy especially with shade clowk
Rule 11: When fighting a boss, you WILL attempt to heal at the wrong moment.
ALL-FUCKING-WAYS
Jesus Christ the times I did that on Hornet v2
Solution: Baldur shell.
Does it work? Most of the times it seems to me that whatever was trying to hit me, hit me anyway.
@@FabriSlv
For me it works. Sometimes a glitch happens where the Baldur shell stays on you when your healing is interrupted. And sometimes when that happens, it will protect you.
No it's just the boss is coded with the words FUCK WHEN HEALING = TRUE and it will find a way to execute that specific code.
Rule 11: Everyone will have that one boss that they absolutely detest with every fiber of their being. It’s usually one of the following 3,
Markoth, Grey Prince Zote, and/or Absolute Radiance.
Yup, already mastered them myself, but only 2 of them. AbsRad is out of my league for now, and she is blocking my last achievement :(
9:20 I actually so that on my first playthrough and I was like when it started moving: "wtf is that lol" when it started to walk away I was like: "WAIT! DON'T LEAVE, YOU MAY BE IMPORTANT!!! XD" I was so stressed lmao, I let it go afterward lol
11. You'll *never* find a bench when you're looking for one.
Not if im next to one

6:58 fits perfectly with my first play through, I was doing the flower quest and died three times right at the end where all you had to do was time a dash, and I kept doing it to early then sliding into the thorns.
I know exactly what jump youre talking about.
"If you find yourself needing to go to the Abyss for any reason..."
Reason: To skydive.
Rule 11, Soul Masters fake death will catch you off guard.
Rule 12, Anyone that claims to have not been trolled by soul master is lying.
actually i saw the someone fight him before i did it myself but it def would have gotten me (youll probably still say im lying but whatev)
I beat it on the first try! (as in first play though first try) and that revival bit surprised me, but it wasn't too difficult to dodge the attacks after that...
Ethiopiop M.C. Right? The second form is soooo easy it has such little health
It wont fool me, i had not actually played hk yet but im aware of that, edit in a few weeks to tell if i got gnomed by the soul master.
I had seen it before and STILL got caught off guard
Rule 11, you will always have to look up a guide for at least one thing on your first playthrough.
And if it's charm notches, mask shards or vessel fragments you will always ask yourself "did I get that one already?"
not entirely sure i agree. depending on the type of player and how deeply they get sucked in, they might refuse to look up anything, combine that with the game doing a great job of tracking most things of relevance, and the only thing that would truly need a guide is the scholar's items.
If you adjust it to "there are things you will learn about the game by joining the community that you would never think of yourself" it would be more accurate.
for me it was at least 15
From experience this is not true. I didn't look anything up until I beat it (and the first thing I looked up was lore stuff because I had NO IDEA what just happened).
I went in on an almost blind playthrough. I knew one or two things, but I kept most major events spoiler free. The only time I looked up something was 1.) I kept getting soft locked on my map since my focus binding was on my mouse, so I needed help with that and 2.) I got utterly lost in the Beast's Den, and after making four rounds I decided to look up how to get out of there.
the other half of city of tears is screaming at the soul twisters
The thing about primal aspids is that their spread pattern is exactly the right width that if you try to jump over the middle shot when shot at from the side of dodge to the side when shot from somewhere above, you’ll almost always hit one the side ones... plus they feel at least, like they actually lead their shots somewhat.
Rule 11: Dying to spikes in the Coliseum of Fools is the most shameful thing a human can feel
Dying by Ooma (big jellyfish) is the most shameful thing.
What about dying to the first vengefly? Think that would shame anyone.
Qwerty Q I did.
+krzypl but dying to uomas in the new uumuu fight is the most frustrating thing
There is no shame in learning.
Rule 11: When you reach NKG, Pure Vessel, or Absolute Radiance, Unless you are god you will not beat them without their move sets being coded into your DNA.
pure vessel is just a buffed up version of hollow knight, with like, one new attack
but oh god why nkg needs to be such a pain
NKG has killed my pantheon 5 attempts way too many times... Still haven't beaten it to this day
yep
There’s actually a theory that you play as the Pale King, reincarnated (The Game Theorists)
@@Mercy_of_the_Devil That theory was heavily debunked by mossbag, it's not possible for it to happen considering the Knight encounters the Pale King in the abyss whilst getting the Voidheart
But to the actual part of Pure Vessel and Nightmare King Grimm I thought they were easy asf, I spent more time on Hornet Sentinel alone. NKG probably 2 hours, Pure Vessel 2,5/3 hours, Hornet Sentinel 8 hours
Rule 11: you will always end up giving the flower to someone else before doing flower quest
Rule 12: most of the time you don't realize that Zote does no damage because you took you time trying to avoid attacks as you normally would
On my first playthrough I struggled with Broken Vessel… _so much._ Then I started getting involved with the community and realized I was a complete mess.
There's always a better way to fight any particular enemy, and you're the only one that couldn't figure it out on your first playthrough.

i felt that
still on my first playthrough and this is why i dont but should use spells
9:38 WHAT THE FU-
That’s the OPPOSITE way it should be!!
My brain just imploded watching that
Just curious if that law applies only to me or not :
"The first try on a boss will be better than the 5 that will follow."
Rule #11: that feeling when geo drops in acid or spikes, and you don't have gathering swarm to get it.
Especially if it's an expensive piece of Geo.
If the geo drops on acid it's lost forever, even with GS. It comes back if it drops on regular water.
when geo gets knocked into the next room…
at the beginning of the game much less
I always bring Gathering Swarm, unless it's either a boss fight or the Colosseum of Fools.
"Your first steel soul death is always embarrassing"
*Remembering the time I got knocked off of a platform by a crystal hunter*
I was killed by the false Knight, usually I can beat him with little to no damage
I decided “screw it” after beating false knight and tried to take down the big guard in front of his arena. It wasn’t a very long run.
DZ The Random Knight i want to slap the shit out of the dev for putting that enemy in this otherwise beautiful game... its the most hated enemy for me by far
My first attempt went pretty well for me. I lost to the second hornet fight. She was one of 2 bosses I was nervous about my first playthrough with the other being watcher knight. My second and third death were very embarrassing however.
personaly i got killed by the mantis lord i suppose it's not such a lame and embarassing end
11. There will always be a person that says what you just spent the last 2hrs doing easy
We spent hours in god home to perfect our skills and memorize their patterns, we also got our asses beat at first but got to the point where most bosses are easy. (But most people will lie and say it was always easy)
I’m currently playing through for the first time, so here’s a law for people like me:
Your first time through, every new area is the new hardest area. I’m currently bashing my face against the soul sanctum so I don’t have to deal with crystal peak ever again. Prior to that, I was finding ever secret I could in the howling cliffs so I could delay city of tears.
Law 11:
You will constantly question "did I do this thing" to yourself
Happened to me
it happened to me a few hours ago
I HAVE GONE TO GET THE SAME PALE ORE 3 TIMES IN ONE PLAYTHROUGH
law 11: after you beat the game once and start your 2nd playthrough you'll feel like if you were in a wheel chair, blind, deaf and mute, you can do 1/100 of what you were able to do before, that's how you will feel: you can't dash, you can't climb walls, you can't double jump, yu can't super dash, you can't swim in acid, you do -1 damage, you have no health nor soul containers, charms or charm notches, you can't dream nail, you can't teleport, you have no magic, no nail techniques, no maps, no stag stations, no geo (meh who cares actually) and most importantly you don't have any of the combos that coulb be made by using any of these things above, for example you can't climb walls to then double jump and dash to get further away from the wall you jumped from...i think you get the idea, especially because i think most of you have been through this
Such is the nature of any good Metroidvania... or part of it at least.
That a big rule
no its not long those were just the details the rule is "when starting you second play-though you will hate not having max equipment"
And then even with these limitations, everything feels so slow and weak at the beginning that you're bouncing around like an untouchable god
There is one thing that carries over from your first playthrough - your skills. That first time you need to pogo jump to reach a grub or cache or whatever? It will feel as easy as walking across.
10:15 wait that’s how you’re supposed to get that? I just used a nail lengthening charm and collecting swarm and hit it through the wall
Remember kids: there is no shame in quitting to menu in steel soul to bring yourself back to a bench

dude I know how your feeling, I went an almost entire sixty+ hour play-through of the game, without figuring that out. I passed that thing so many times and it always kept taunting me. I honestly don't even remember if I figured out how to get there by a video or just random chance.

You have to talk to the old man in dirt mouth. It's Hart breaking to see him cry and put his hand up to call for you
he was scared that he became like the others, that he had dissapeared, the elder bug is one of my favorite creature beside dug defender, because he is lonely, and even knowing we never talk with him, he still is friendly and even wants us close to him to make company
rule 11: you will lie awake for hours on end trying to piece together lore, ultimately coming to a conclusion (such as it's all based on norse mythology, or the radiance is actually the pale king) and then wake up the next day, remember it vividly, and think that you're an idiot because it doesn't bloody make sense.

Mother's will always betray you. This one is self explanatory.
It took me a while to realize what he could have been talking about, and made me question the validity of all of his other strange tenets.
I dont get this one? What are you guys talking about?
It's a bit of a spoiler which you might enjoy finding on your own more than having me dictate it, so read below at your own discretion.
In Deepnest, there is a hidden passage near the bottom-left of the map where you encounter an NPC named "Mother" in the side of the wall. She speaks with you briefly, before attempting to draw you closer and lashing out at you in an attempt to eat you. Hitting her will cause her to retreat into the burrow she emerges from.
Okay I wont read below thanks fam.
Actually I read it. And I still dont know what youre talking about lol. I found that NPC ages ago but gave up on her because she just "betrays you" by trying to eat you. is there more to it than just that?
In what universe is the city of tears more confusing than Deepnest?
Yeah, the City of Tears was easy to navigate.
I didn't die 60 times to soul master in deepnest
Agreed.
Deepnest is fairly linear, ngl, but yeah, city isn't bad at all.
It took me a bit, but after delivering relic after relic to Lemm, I eventually got it. I've got a pretty decent head for directions in Hollow Knight, but I'm pretty sure me not putting on wayward compass in Deepnest was a horrendous mistake.
10:13 had me fucking shaking, I had no clue you could get in there, I used abyss shriek and the geo gathering charm to get that thing...
edit: I have 200 hours and 107%, so I am solidly shook
The best part about that spike death. Is that if he just held left he would've grabbed the wall and survived, instead he stopped moving after the double jump and welcomed death.
Rule 17: You'll be stuck forever at a boss where you don't have time to heal, until you try out to go full lifeblood and just slash him dead brute force first try.
I tried to do that with the Watcher Knights, it didn't work.. But the second I removed every lifeblood item and replaced it with strength and longnail I beat them easy
yes, but then that boss will be watcher knights and you'll get your ass handed to you regardless ...
@@IntegralKing Easy watcher knights: Gurbsong, Thorns, Spore, Quick Focus, Soul Catcher. You get hit constantly, but it only ever helps you
Another point- you will always leave the boss for a while and then come back and wreck them on your first try. Happened to me with Hornet 2 and Dung Defender
Mark of pride + 15k geo charm is always the way
6:45 Actually, there is one thing you could do in the menu: it's the button labeled "quit to menu" since it (as far as I know) returns you to the most recent bench/respawn point.
That trick is most of the reason that I won Steel Soul. If I ever went down to 1 HP, period dot for any reason, I reloaded to a bench.
Combustible Lemons lol same here. It's not legit, but you get that amazing title screen backround.
In Axiom Verge, another metroid vania, it is actually a legit stratagy. If you do the speedrun mode and quit like that, the timer doesn't stop while at the main menu so you can abuse it for speed runs.
I'm glad someone else pointed it out
This is true, but he also could have just pogo-ed his way back onto the ledge as a less cheap alternative.
For me Fog Canyon was the place I could never figure out. I still don't understand how that place is laid out. I discovered the Queen's Gardens by navigating up from Deepnest for crying out loud XP
City of Tears was the first dreamer I did. As soon as I got double jump I wanted to go there and find out what was up that one ledge.
3:25 relating to the shortage of geo thing, before beating hornet I thought you needed lumafly lantern and was so confused on how I was supposed to get enough geo.
There will always be that one attack during a boss fight that you just can't figure out, and end up taking to the face
The spikes in Nightmare King Grimm's fight.
Soul Masters fake-out dive. That shit is the reason he took me so long to beat

deepnest
deepnest
Deepnest was absolutely terrifying imo.
Fell into the pit without lumafly lantern on my first run after forcing my way through the mantis lords with the old nail 11/10 still gets vietnam flashbacks
The Deepnest...
Nothing horrified me more in the entire game than when I found a copy of myself just bellow me on Deepnest. I actually already had completed all the rest of deepnest when I decided to go back there and actually investigate what the fuck I had seem.
6:40 In that situation, just quit to the menu and it will spawn you back at the last bench you sat at, all your progress would be saved as well.
Rule: no matter who you are or how you play **** Deepnest.

"Chances are there's an item or a scene or an NPC you somehow completely missed."

SERIOUSLY, WHERE THE HELL IS THAT!?

Rule 11: during a second run the boss you thought easy is going to kill you.
Uumuu killed me in my SS run
@@TheLudicrousLuv broken vessel killed me.
All bosses aside from the big three are pushovers to me after 30 hours in god home
@@ishthewall1915 honestly the "big three" are easy as hell to me by now. Pure vessel and nkg have become a joke. Absolute Radiance is hard and.... this might sound weird but... Markoth in ascended mode.... that shit's hard as well
@@ShinyLP ascended Markoth is probably the hardest boss tbh and he’s one of the 3 bosses I can’t beat on radiant, he just sucks
Ok but regarding those rules: The one core thing to remember: Always heal up from one mask shard, if you have the chance (and most often also from two). And if you are on steel soul and absolutely can't get soul, then just save and quit lol. I don't know if that is scummy or not, but it also works in boss fights.
Like seriously the example at 6:40, though funny, he could've just quit the game.
gosh I love how funny you talk Rusty, its why I subscribed to you in the first place, your brilliant comedy
Law 11
The sadness when u die a second time trying to get ur ghost/shadow back and loose all the geo u farmed
Especcially if its in the middle of a hard platforming section and shade souls your ass through a wall.
Thats why jiji exists
Especially when you just got all your geo back from the thief
That's why I farm later areas for geo
Too true
Rusty: you pause the game but get frustrated because there's nothing you can do to prevent your steel soul run from ending
Me: Err, quit to menu?
I have 2:
Rule 11: Deepnest is scary af, and you will die there at least once
Rule 12: The first time you attempt White Palace, PoP, or ANY of the colosseums, you WILL DIE. That is a given and you do not have to be embarassed about it
edit: also, referring to 0:05 and one of your most recent streams, in our defense, you said that so naturally that it doesn't really sound like hyperbole. And the footage doesn't help lol
Secret rule eleven: deepnest will scare you shitless somehow.
in my first playthrough I got lost in deepnest with base health and magic, no nail upgrades, nothing. ended up fighting through all of it, got the tram pass, beat the beasts' den. I almost cried when I found that deep nest stag station and gtfo back to dirtmouth to chill with elderbug.
I still loathe it with a maxed profile
I was perfectly fine until the GODFUCKINGDAMNIT SPIDER ENEMIES THAT USE CORPSES AS THEIR BODIES. That almost for real made me throw the controller. I was speechless for a goof two minutes, then all I could say was "what the fuck man?" in increasingly hysterical tones for the next three.
@@ThePhantomSafetyPin I damn near threw my controller I jumped so hard the first time I got slapped by one of those fuckers
I went into Deepnest prepared. Upgrades, defensive charms, 8 masks, and ready for the worst possible jumpscares or scenarios. I actually found the area much easier than expected.
And then I stumbled upon the Midwife and nearly had a heart attack and noped the nope out of there thinking it was some sort of snake head enemy.

I just started my first steel soul mode run today (well technically on my first run I died before I got out of tutorial area but I did it on purpose) and I wasn't really stressed about it, was easly progressing 10x times faster throught the game then on my first playthrought but after this video I just realised how stressful it's going to become
