      The event for Hawai'i getting puppeted gives more infamy because in that way, you illegally overthrow the govt. of the Kingdom and replace them with white supremacist planters, whom almost no one likes, even in the XIX century. If you were just to invade and puppet them, you would not uproot the local government and customs and just leave them be under new authority

    • @arevolvingdoor3836
      @arevolvingdoor3836 Před měsícem

      Hawaiian annexation was done under dubious circumstances, so it makes sense that doing it through the event might cause more infamy.
      When it comes to Multiculturalism there are a few rules: you can only convert a culture when it is a main culture of the country and in a homeland the state of the culture of your country, hence you can convert any culture to Yankee if that culture has pops in a state where Yankee is a Homeland(so a pop of any culture in New York will be converted, but a pop in Oman will never convert to Yankee as it is not a homeland state of Yankee, they can be converted if they move though.
      When it comes to oil, the deposits across the USA are fairly accurate, at the start of oil production the USA had some of the best and most easily accessible oil deposits in the world. They were light sweet crude, which was both easier to refine and extract, it was also at fairly shallow depths making it even easier.
      If you want to see where the oil is, look to the "potential" map mode, it will show where oil has been discovered, but many nations will not build oil derricks, so this is the best way to find oil. This only really works post 1895, as most nations have not gotten the tech yet.
      Final note, for anyone who read this far and is interested, most of the oil available in the game is historically accurate. However it only includes oil deposits that were discovered up until game end, and does not include deposits discovered after. This was likely done for the historical aspects, and the idea that the oil couldn't have been extracted until later. However this is a bit misleading as there are a massive number of oilfields that were economically exploited for decades using old techniques that were very much in use by people in the early 1900s. Oilfields in some places, such as Ecuador, were discovered in the 1960's and have produced more than 1.7 billion barrels of oil, and did not use any new technologies, and could have easily been exploited during the time period of Victoria 3, it was simply just a lack of will and size of containerships. While the game does show that it has oil it is not very representative sometimes. It can feel as though the devs just arbitrarily put a number down that might make gameplay interesting. This is a bit of a contradiction as they seem to struggle with historical accuracy, feasible resource production, and balanced gameplay. The only area I think the devs have done a fantastic job on is iron and coal. They also recently made some updates to sulphur which has made it much more accurate, especially the sulphur in Romania, which was a glaring omission as there were commercial sulphur mines there for decades.
      But the issue with resources definitely comes up with the issue of the game missing certain commodities, especially metals. The lack of silver and copper is actually a massive problem. It simply does not make sense that you could truly electrify things without copper, hence it should totally be in the game. It would also make gameplay more interesting as certain nations would find themselves needing to go to war, it would also make many new places more valuable and worth it to expand into.
      Silver is also perhaps the most glaring omission. Most countries in Europe at the start of the game would be on the
      "Silver Standard". It infuriates me that the game has simply ignored silver, in fact one of the massive outcomes of the 1870 Franco-Prussian war, was that the Prussians were able to take French gold and move over to the gold standard thus allowing more liquidity for its people and deflating its currency to an extent, encouraging more competitive exports and raising import prices, creating a more robust economy. Modern Germany owes itself to silver standard, as do many other european nations. I will simply be baffled as to why the game never included silver. It could be an amazing feature and make countries more unique, because adding a currency standard could create some really fun modifiers and reasons to expand, especially for all the nations which start as great powers.
      I'm sorry if any of you had to read this rant, there's just so much the devs could do to make the game more interesting, but they seem to take forever to update it.

      Yeah I had a trade agreement with China as Russia, and it was the 1880s, so China had an absurdly large army. I subsidized my Iron, Steel, Weapons, Artillery, and Munitions plants, and exported all of them to China at below market prices, once most of their army was using my Guns, Artillery, and Munitions, I attacked and embargoed them. This cut off their army from their weapons, and the lack of 550 Iron meant they couldn't construct quickly. They had to slowly build their own supply of guns, but still lacked the iron to supply them, and I had enough time to overrun their massive army. One of my proudest Vic 3 moments. This should still be possible, but I did it in 1.4, so idk.

    Actually, here in America, we don't really talk about Alabama, for several reasons, and they also tend to have one of the most racist and sexist state governments, along with Arizona and Texas. They also are known for being one of the last states to really start shifting away from marrying into one's family to "preserve bloodlines".
