Your story on Grant's name is a little off, his original name was "Hiriam Ulysses Grant," but the rest is correct. There was a mistake on his application to West Point where his benefactor accidentally wrote "Ulysses Simpson Grant" with Simpson being his mother's maiden name. It was in part because his family referred to him by his middle name over his first.
Also there's no set of events to make Norton Emperor, you just have to make sure that when the law passes, he's the head of government, as they always become the monarch when the government changes to a monarchy. I, however, will happily bow before Emperor William Tecumseh Sherman.

ehi ludi, i want to give you an advice. At the start of the game if you invite mazzini as agitator, yuo have a bouns to your university as event and mazzini is an intelligientia radical agitator, you can even grant him comand and max out his ranck for the max bonus to the party and grant him leadership. Non bad at all and is completly free, i always invite him (and i am italian so i am proud of this caracther) :)

On the topic of the Kiel canal, if I'm remembering a development diary correctly, the Kiel canal wasn't included in the game because they had included it in an early development build, and they found that it changed almost nothing about the trade calculations nor the path finding calculations for fleets and armies, while increasing the performance cost of those calculations quite a bit.
I found that setting strategic objectives during wars does a good job of preventing multiple fronts from popping up.
Really enjoyed watching this playthrough, I hope you take it all the way in a part 2.

Liberia was created as an American colony in the early 1800s specifically for slaves that had been freed in order to allow them to return to Africa. This was ultimately viewed as one of the options for freed slaves to return with some money and build their own society under American protection. However, within 15 years of arriving in Africa, the former slaves created the same society they had been freed from. Quite ironic, but a similar situation exists presently in South Africa, where the former oppressed has now become the opppressor

21:36 I googled it and yes, it is something it extremley similar to what you said. Its from the latin word "Liber" which "Liberation" is based on. It is the word in Latin for "Free". Ludi probaly knows this but, This makes sense as all of the settlers in Liberia were freed American slaves, who were sent there by the Northern States believing there life would be better there than the United States. Its an ...interesting country to say the least.

What I think he might have wanted to say was that the public schools in the USA aren't great. The system that the USA uses to fund the schools is based on the land tax in each district, that means that poor districts have less funds then rich districts and thus creates an inequality where the rich get better education then the poor. BTW each state is different cause some have high land tax while some have low land tax, and so the funds come from elsewhere. Then there is the funds that come from the private sector and finally some funds come from the government as a subsidy. (This is not applicable in every state).
Modern public schools in America are creating slave caste for the rich.
I thought the civil war was actually a super hard fought war because while the North had all the industrial capacity, it took them years to actually make use of it, and the South was commanded by better generals that routinely outperformed their northern counterparts.

There are a few ways to embrace multiculturalism without Trade Unions help.
U can roll Anarchist as a popular army/navy leader for Intelligentsia or Rurals. Then u can expel every other popular commander for this class and then expel the leader of Intelligentsia/Rurals. So u have an Anarchist group for 20-30% influence and Anarchists support the multiculturalism.
That's why I'm rushing Human Rights and Anarchy research in every of my runs - this is the fastest way to become Multiculturalist ever.
Alternatively, Socialist/Communist and Enlighten Royalist also supports multiculturalism - so u can embrace it from their help (but for me Anarchist is the easiest way)

When you want to expand in South America you should first annex Uruguay, it's a good footprint for expansion in the area
As long as it is the only war you are participating in you can switch sides. Easy to exploit the AI by waiting on a war from a major power, pause the game and join on the side opposite of the side you actually want to get something from then switch sides. If you are already participating in another war even if the war hasn't started then you can't switch sides in any other conflicts.

The support the natives then support the colonizers thing kinda makes sense. If a Great Power says they'll support the people with sticks to puppet you, you may as well offer them the same thing in order to avoid losing the war.

Funny enough I got the achievement using what I think was a bug. Otto Von Bismarck got exiled from prussia so I took him in and then 5 years later Otto Von Bismarck got exiled from germany lol and I was like wait I have Otto how did that happen so I brought him in to america so Norton with the help of 2 otto von bismarcks became the monarch of america lol

Wonder if you have some basic Vicky 3 advice. My biggest problem when playing the game as an expansionist country (even as someone like Greece just trying to retake core lands with my own nationality) is dealing with the enormous growth of radicals. Radicals are hard enough to deal with when I'm struggling to find jobs for my POPs later in the game, but when I get a million or more just dumped on me all at once, and have turmoil slowing building growth to boot, things rapidly spiral out of control.
Anyone here know a good way to anticipate or correct massive radical populations?

The best way to educate citizens BY FAR is the social mobility edict. Even in countries with no education using this edict will rapidly educate ur nation

hey bro, dont delete fleet at tier 1 like man o wars. you can upgrade it to ironclad just press the upgrade button like you upgrade the army. after that, you should send to hq and wait for a while so they can upgraded

@LudietHistoria you still get the resources from the conquered land. In some cases, like for rubber and opium, it is better to control the production so you can manage it better. You could colonize the inlands of Africa if you occupy the states directly. I guess you are not going for that.
@@HozAbubakir i know but having subjects own those resources is the same since they are a part of your customs union. Only problem is right now you can't build in subjects lands but you will be able to in 1.7
