Rush- Limelight Reaction - Hudba
I don't always listen to Rush but when I do, so do my neighbors. 😎
Geddy Lee's voice is amazing. It is the dopest 3 piece band ever!
Not only are the master musicians, they are just really good human beings. Very humble.
The song was written by the drummer who happens to be a private person. It's about dealing with fame.
Yeah "The Spirit of Radio" I think it's my favorite Rush tune. It has a drum and a whole band break in the middle of that's just unbelievable. It's amazing how tight that break is in the middle of the song.
The Spirit of Radio
"Spirit of Radio" by Rush
"Working Man" put Rush in the spotlight and made them a household name. the guitar solo will Amaze you.
Well, after people stopped thinking it was a new Led Zeppelin song, anyway. :D
“Subdivisions” is a must listen if you like Rush.
My childhood in one song...
Xanadu....oh and, Twilight Zone. Also Circumstances. Time Stands Still of course.
Awesome song, and usual deep lyrics from Neil Peart.
My favorite
There are much better songs then that
Trees by Rush
Limelight: musicians, poets, artists, actors, and entrepreneurs have to suffer the darkness of being put ou and separate from most in society, rejected in some instances. It becomes a very lonely journey of discovery. Once recognized for those talents, people show them off as a parade. When it talks about alienation, and get on with the fascination is the journey one takes. However being outside the gilded cage has its rewards. Rush could not get signed back in the day, so they had to do everything for themselves which allowed them freedom. Eventually they were signed. It may be a harder road but today it's easier than these pioneers.
That song does deserve applause. so happy to see how much you enjoy Rush's music!
The Spirit of Radio by Rush!
Ahhh. another classic cut of vintage 80's RUSH.
You did it, you get it, they get you, we get you, you get us 😃
Spirit of radio by Rush
You really need to give "Spirit of the Radio" a listen. It will blow you away.
Live at the Sars concert! They played a little Paint it Black first.
The Spirit of Radio. Not Spirit of the Radio.
Yes, it matters. I'm coming to your house with a clipboard to make sure you are adequately up to date before we continue. Make sure you're there; my time is valuable.
@@s1d299 My bad, I will use the correct tittle from here on out. Thanks for the heads up.
@@s1d299 Rudy Toot Toot as in that John Mellencamp tune?
@@andrewgalindo6959 See that you do! ;-)
This is the recording session for this song way back when. You simply must watch it to see how stinking talented these guys really are... By far, one of my faves by Rush. Thanks for checkin' it out...
Subdivisions. 🏠
Spirit of Radio. 📻
2112 the full 7 part 20 minute song is an experience in song story telling.A real Eargasm.
Xanadu Live 1981, best performance by any rock band live
Great song and one of the best guitar solos ever!
"I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend"
Beautiful
Try "Spirit of Radio" and "Resist" from Rush.
First and best concert I've ever seen. Signals Tour 81' Subdivisions, it's like a sound track to my life growing up in the suburbs and going into the city. From New Jersey to New York every weekend and cutting school sometimes through the week just to hang out in the city. Awesome memories of Washington Square Park and everybody is playing guitar, or drumming, or singing, and tripping, it was like the 60s in the 80s. What a great time.
"2112" is a must. It'll take you on a journey. Love "2112"
RIP Neil Peart. This is my favorite Rush song out of many, many, many amazing songs from that band
After listening to "the Spirit of Radio" listen to 2112 album, Overture and Temples of syrinx. Great to see people discovering Rush songs.
Drummers name is Neil Peart, and CZcams has about an 8 and a half minute drum solo of him. Just type Neil Peart drum solo. He's great. And, limelight, you got it right. You are in the limelight!! But, I'm thinking we are all in the limelight, as he said, each another's audience, which suggests that everyone is performing for everyone in some way or another. Great reaction. I love watching and listening.
Neil Ellwood Peart
"spirit of radio","subdivisions","workin man","YYZ","2112"and please check out Neil Pearts drum solo live in concert. Awesome Rush rocks period.
Hell yeah!! Keep us down the Rush rabbit hole!
big106razor
Exactly. You hear one song your addicted
Rush - Working Man is from their first album released in 1974, you should check it out!
try "Xanadu" from their live album "exit stage left", if you want to hear something like you have never heard before
"Spirit of the radio "
"Grace under Pressure". one of my favorites!
Red Barchetta, Vital Signs, both great lyrics, and you know everything else.
"Living in a fish eye lense, caught in the camera eye. I have no heart to lie. I can't pretend the stranger is a long awaited friend". You have know idea how many rambling drunks I've quoted that line to at that to at the bar.. Lol. They always scratced their heads and said, "Ive never though of that"!
I love this song. love that the curly hair is back too :) try Subdivisions lyric video
Hey girl Rush the spirit of radio 😍🇨🇦 also from Toronto the same era as Rush is Triumph lay it on the line a must listen
Rock on with Rush! Lyrics by drummer Neil Peart. Try Spirit of Radio by them, you’ll love it guaranteed.
Don't miss "Working Man" either.
"I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" is the line that best states what the song's about.
Rush always require multiple listens, each time focusing on one of the three. You should check out a Neal Peart drum solo sometime. It's amazing. Look on CZcams for "RUSH in Río - Leave That Thing Alone and YYZ". It's a great instrumental, then the drum solo. It says YYZ in the title, but it's really Leave That Thing Alone & O Baterista (the drum solo).
Nice reaction! I believe you are correct; this is a song about fame. There are so many Rush songs to recommend. They were in the business for 41 years. I would listen to some of their stuff from the 1970s next. Their first big hit was their 1976 album, 2112. The first side is one entire 21-minute song (actually, it's 7 songs strung together) that tells this cool sci-fi story. Xanadu is great too (especially their 1981 live version). By-Tor and the Snowdog is a lot of fun. As I said. Many songs to check out!
2112. It's what hooked me on Rush back in the day. There's a great animated video that helps with the story. A 21 minute journey.
The Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions
Rush. The legendary power trio, unleashing their stunning songwriting and musicianship. This is one of their best-known radio hits, and just an iconic, emotional track from their 80's era. Play that guitar solo back a few times. You don't hear guitar work like that anymore... thank you so much for this one!!
I'll suggest exactly as I did last time you asked:- Xanadu, Live Exit Stage Left. Top of their game in that. Astonishing to see them play this superb piece live. Thank me later
I don't understand why people hate Geddy Lee's voice.
They can say whatever about his voice (haters are gonna hate) but they caint say sheeeeeittt about his bass thumpin'
Because they ARE STUPID!!!!!!!
"I cant pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend"
Neil was a very down to earth, private person that would rather meet you as a "person to person" as opposed to an idol. He was actually an introvert and felt genuinely uncomfortable being around people who overly admired him. Strange occupation to be in no doubt, and end up being considered one of the best that will ever be. He was never rude about it but considered his time.....his time. I met him once several years ago and broke the ice by asking him if he knew any good drummers, I was wanting to start a band and was looking for a backup and judging by his hands he looked like he might play. Talked for about an hour at a diner in Washington. You get him on books, drums and music he would talk your arm off.
2112 - Overture/Temple of Syrinx is the most epic rock song of all time.
Gods of Rock!
YYZ ultimate instrumental from RUSH...time changes, harmonies...will have you moving and is high energy with a touch of smoothness..think you will enjoy
Stellar lyrics , drawing from Shakespeare, even! And that held high note at the end of that solo - I always get a tinge of emotion - it’s sooo good!
The Great Neil Peart on those drums there ... Undoubtedly top 5 drummers of all timeeeee
Love watching her head trying to bounce to the ever-changing time signature.
One of the best things about watching your videos is that sometimes like this for instance, you can see that you are really enjoying the song and that you "get it". It's like the music is flowing through your soul. Nice.
Girl you definitely have it going on. Someone your age getting in to Rush warms my heart.
Do “2112”. You’re ready for it!!
ScribeCash, listening to your comments to the lyrics and the song as a whole, I think you almost immediately "got it." This promptly gave me crazed, irrational hope for the future of 1) music 2) (wo)mankind in-general. Rush was my generation, I was your age when this song was young. Limelight is my favorite of their entire catalog, and I've heard it maybe a THOUSAND times in thirty nine years(!). Amazing I'm not deaf. Every time is goosebumps. It's about alienation, fame, and ... getting by, and watch what you wish for. Keep up the good work!
you were right on about what the song is about. Neil is the drummer and lyricist. wrote about his feelings about being in the limelight
2112 Live in Rio is off the chain. Spirit of Radio - Exit Stage Left. Closer to the Heart -- Exist Stage Left. A legendary prog rock band. top-shelf, no dust in every way. The lyrics, the musicianship deep meaningful and prophetic lyrics . Neil Pert lived the most incredible life. Very inspiring. Rush was 30 years ahead of their time,
more rush please;)
"This is the dopest 3-piece band I never heard..." ha! That's the most clever one-liner I never said!... $C, so it looks like "The Spirit of Radio" is the on-deck consensus Rush tune (and it IS another great Rush song!)... but if Rush has a 'pretty' song, it would be "Closer to the Heart" - maybe you could react to it when you get "Closer to 20Ksubs"... BTW: You should 'look up' at least once for a few seconds each reaction - very 'pretty' and brings you closer to my heart.
I LOL'd! GREAT line!
Working Man.... Spirit of Radio
Great reaction !! Welcome to Rush 🎶🎵😃
You should listen to the whole moving pictures album.
Agreed - her arms will be numb for hours from air-drumming to 'The Camera Eye'.
william peterman
Don’t stop there. I love all of them 😀😀😀
The Spirit of Radio should be your next reaction.
More than any one song, it is interesting to note how much this band has changed and evolved much less stayed together through that. And my God the musicianship! Just wow!
The next essential Rush song to listen to is "The Spirit of Radio". Other classics to consider are "Subdivisions" and "Closer to the Heart". After that you can dive into their deep catalog and listen to their longer tracks like "Xanadu", "Natural Science", and "La Villa Strangiato". Also to consider are the rock operas "2112" and "Hemispheres" which are both legendary. From there you only need to tackle about 60 more songs to cover their most epic tracks. :)
Nailed it!
I love your reactions. It's like your on stage with them
RUSH baby!
I saw this concert. I love to watch your reactions.
Enjoy😉
This makes me smile.
What a guitar solo!!!! Absolutely soaring!:)
So many killer tunes from these guys. Drum solos live stuff. All Great stuff.
Lol at 5:26 water bottle scrunch.
Digging the drums eh?
Cool vid, good reaction.
More Rush lovely lady 👍
Yes Neil was talking about living in the "Limelight" it was when they were getting really popular and became completely overwhelmed by becoming famous and didn't know how to react to it because it got to the point they couldn't go out in public because they would get overwhelmed by fans, have huge numbers of fans waiting for them at the airports and even having fans show up at their homes and it was completely crazy for them because they never imagined they would become so popular with their music.
I grew up listening to these guys, use to go watch them practice in my high school gym, Neil is from my home town area did some work on his parents house back in the day, you really should check out some of his drum solos that are on youtube
Enjoyed your energy, please keep it. You mentioned the voice with an 80s vibe, your personal insight. Please keep on offering your thoughts. Thanks.
Thank you 🙏.
Limelight was more Neil Peart's song than a lot of the songs on Moving Pictures album in the sense that his feelings about being in the limelight and his difficulty with coming to grips with fame and autograph seekers and a sudden lack of privacy and sudden demands on his time ... he was having a very difficult time dealing with it.
Rest in Beats Neil Peart (1952-2020)
"Anthem" by RUSH is my favorite of their early songs. It's about self sufficiency.
Side one of Hemispheres !
YUS! Deep in the Rush Rabbit Hole!
U ROCK GIRL !!!! reeeeel music spirit. hooray !!!!!!!
Neil was an amazing drummer, fast and yet so precise. I first heard this album when it came out in the early 80s. I take it for granted today, especially in 🇨🇦, where rush is from. It was part of our rock landscape. I am truly thankful for ppl like you showing me again what makes them so special. Try Closer to the Heart 😘🇨🇦🧐🥃
It's very refreshing that you are more intelligent than most reactionists and actually get the meaning of the lyrics not to mention enjoying the steller music. I'm impressed. 🤘
Fun fact -"I Like to Rock" by April Wine video was shot in that same studio
...and is another great banger, to boot!
April Wine very underrated band
And that is how drummer Neil Peart earned the nickname "The Professor"!
Thank God there are people who appreciate good music.
The greatest drummer!!! Amazing drummer.
Rip Professor, a drunning god, a lyrical god, a musical god!!!!!!!
Yes Rush is the band to hear
Welcome to Rush Scribe, the worm has definitely changed for you girl....you won't be able to stop going deeper, peace 😉
Closer to the heart...#1 rush song

I saw them live in 1999 absolutely amazing
Listen to Closer To The Heart. It is a great classic by Rush.
Limelight literally is about their lives as famous musicians.
New RUSH generation!
Working Man 🤘🤘
"La Villa Strangiato"
"Xanadu"
