  • In this video I replace the coolant and the expansion bottle as the original is stained and looks horrible. This process id the same for most vauxhall motors.
    As I know the hisory of this car I only did the standard coolant change. If you want to do a more thorough flush of the system then you can remove the thermostat and the lowest radiator hose and use a garden hose to flush the old coolant out. You can also remove the heater matrix pipes and use the same process to flush the matrix.

    Another top video keep them coming on the Corsa!! I'll get them plastered on the forum. Tip for anyone doing this job, with the bleed crew it is better to use a long socket extension with a deep 10mm or 13mm socket on it, less chance of chewing up the cross marking compared to using a screw driver... Ask me how I know.

    Hi Andy,
    I have a vauxhall corsa 1.2 2008 and i notice that there is a small amount of oil getting into the coolant tank. What could be the cause of this? No overheating or anything car runs smoothly, thankyou :)

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi buddy. The most likely cause will be the timing chain gasket failing which allows the coolant to mix with the oil. If your engine is rattly too then it’s a good time to have the timing chain replaced which will remedy all problems

    i need to do this when my expansion bottle comes as my current one has a hole right at the bottom so all the coolant leaked out and continues to leak if u refill, its only ever had universal coolant and ive just recently bought it in september so havent done a coolant change yet, online it says red for my car or yellow but a few garages have said pink, what colour should i use?

      Pink for Vauxhall buddy!😁 nice easy job to do to 👌🏻

    I have replaced the expansion bottle yesterday and I kind of forced the other pipe our without removing the clip a lot and now I'm trying to put the 2nd pipe back in and it won't go. Do I need the tool you used or do I need to use Clic & Clic-R Type Hose Clamp Pliers Swivel Drive Car Water Pipe Removal Tool to remove the clip so I can reinstall the pipe. I'm so stupid that I should have removed the clip fully before forcing the pipe out. Used a piler and attempted it to put the underneath pipe back together which doesn't help woth a piller. I think I might have to hold the pipe, push the clip back enough, refit the pipe and then refit the clip in to secure it. Please let me know as soon as possible please.

      Pliers or long nose grips / vise grips will do the job as access to the clips is easy. If it’s tight to go on then compress the clips and back them off so you can slide the pipe on first and then work the clips over.

      @@AMSVauxhall Ah makes sense. I will purchase a Clic & Clic-R Type Hose Clamp Pliers Swivel Drive Car Water Pipe Removal Tool and use that instead. I am beating myself up for a stupid mistake. I hope it can get refit without me taking it to a mechanic which I don't want to do unless it's the last resort

      @AMS Vauxhall Update I got the QWORK Hose Clamp Pliers, Car Hose Clamp CV Boot Clamp pliers Clic & Clic-R Type Collar Clamp and done it yesterday. It has gone in bit I can see the main pipe has a gap as shown in 2:56. Is that normal or do I have to tighten it more since the pipe is holding in as I'm worried. Also how can I remove the front grill as I have dropped a different tool inside. Please let me know as soon as possible please.

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Před rokem

      There is a notch on the bottle which lines up with the notch and on the pipe so it can’t go any further on.

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Před rokem

      You should be able to get your tool out from underneath but if not then it is easier the remove the front bumper than it is the grill

    Hello bud, I need to replace the thermostat housing on my friends corsa, I assume I need to bleed the radiator, I understood the first few steps you done, but at what point do I need to open the bleed value and when do I close it?
    Many thanks

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Před rokem +1

      If you are just replacing thermostat then you won’t loose that much coolant as it is the top hose. You will be able to just pull of top hose and then swap thermostat out and top up coolant.
      If you are draining all the coolant then open the bleed valve on radiator before you refill the coolant and then when coolant starts to run out of the bleed valve without air bubbles you can close it
      Hope that makes sense buddy

      @@AMSVauxhall it kind of makes sense 😂 I was thinking of just draining all the coolant, because the car has been sat for a couple of years, so basically the drain plug at the bottom of the rad, I need to undo it until all coolant has come out, then do the screw back up, then top the bottle up with fresh stuff, leave the cap off, turn the engine over, and then undo the bleed screw at the top, sorry for the confusing mate

    • @AMSVauxhall
      @AMSVauxhall  Před rokem +1

      @@nathanhuitson1418 pretty much but open the bleed screw before you refill then when the coolant runs out of the bleed screw without air bubbles, close it.
