      When we finally switched to a licensed dentist who knew what she was doing, she was a tiny Ukranian woman with a dozen gold bracelets. She has kept us actually healthy with quality care of our teeth for almost 15+ years! And she cares about how we are doing and will call to make sure we are OK if we call with a problem. She is the best! When she saw the fillings and work our original guy had done, she was like, "What was he doing?? No wonder you have another cavity, it's growing around the cracks of his junk fillings and badly done cleaning out of decay!!"

    I do a background check of ALL my doctors and dentists (they don’t know that). I want to know about their schooling, background, any malpractices, etc. I truly do. It’s not hard to do. And sometimes I will go visit the office or call before my appointment to get a “feel” for their staff. I want to know IF they are problematic or anything. I really do this stuff. I recently had a procedure done at a hospital where they were trying to say I had a “Co-pay.” I do not and never have. Called my insurance, put them on 3-way right there in the office, (which they did not want me to do lol). After that, I had NO problems. Even my dentist said “oh you will be charged $$$ for this type x-ray for first time patient. Did the same thing with them. BEFORE my appt date, went to the dentist, did a three way (they weren’t happy about that either lol) and insurance told them “she NEVER has a co-pay.” I always check with insurance: is the facility covered; is the doctor covered; do I need pre-authorization for this procedure; is the anesthesiologist covered; is the room and board covered (if I have to unexpectedly stay). If you get your info beforehand, you can better know what to do because these doctor offices try everything to get more money out of you! I’m not having it! For anything I do medical wise, I call my insurance FIRST. Even if THEY say “oh, we will call them”. Nope. I call for myself. I’m telling you, you will be stuck paying thousands of dollars if you don’t check for yourself what is covered and what is not. JS

      Everyone should do this, please use this comment as an example. Im a person with chronic illness. Ive seen and experienced terrible behavior by healthcare providers. Never ever just trust them based on title alone. I've seen things that should be slam dunk lawsuits that were allegedly covered up. Ive been verbally and physically abused by doctors. Doctors have lied in my charts. Doctors have gaslit me numerous times causing disability progression. I have never once been problematic. Always stay on high alert, and never go to the doctor alone if you can help it. Statistics show that patients who attend appointments with a family member are more likely to be diagnosed sooner. Also check out your area for a patient advocate... just be sure they are actually advocating for you. Dont ever trust a clinic supervisor either by the way, one of my bigger mistakes. Clinic supervisors work for corporations most often. Their only concern is lawsuit against the establishment. They dont usually help patients but will make you think they are helping you. I got cornered by one in my doctors office simply because i asked for more testing. Be wary

    • @anusha5410
      @anusha5410 Před měsícem

      I work in insurance for a private practice. If they were trying to get you to pay your “co-pay”, they were definitely wrong. That being said , $0 copay doesn’t necessarily mean nothing comes out of your pocket. Usually, a co-pay (ex. $50 copay) covers the cost of an office visit, and any additional procedures or supplies during that visit will be payed either towards your deductible, or any coinsurance once your deductible is met.
      But in the case of “no copay” or “$0 copay” plans, this simply means there is no set price your insurance will pay to cover office visits. Instead, they give us a list of average rates that your office visit COULD cost. This estimate is called a “cost-share” price. For example, at our office, Cigna will say your office visit should cost $97, BCBS will say your office visit should cost $133, etc.
      If it’s an office that collects payment from you same day, insurance could still process the claim and decide they want to pay less than the cost share (and you owe the rest). It’s all a game of estimating until the actual claim is made. Copays, there are no estimates, and your insurance has agreed that your copay is your office visit cost, and that they won’t switch up on you once the claim is made.
      If you have a copay’s this $50 copay now replaces the contracted rate they told us. However, “no copay” or “$0 copay” plans simply mean you will be charged the average amount your insurance says an office visit costs. And this will come out of your pocket. In our example, if you have no copay and your insurance is BCBS, that $133 will come out of your pocket for the cost of the office visit until your deductible is met. If your deductible is met and you have 20% coinsurance, you still must pay 20% of the office visit cost.
      It really sucks when some scummy places try to take advantage of patients, I agree. Especially when insurance is so poorly understood in general. I’ve been there on the patient end myself.
      However for anyone reading this, if you’re asked to pay for an office visit and you have a “no copay/$0 copay” price, you’re still expected to pay the cost-sharing price that your insurance tells us to charge you. It’s just that if you have copays, they’re usually flat fees for PCP/Specialist/ER etc but “no copay/$0 copay” is really your insurance saying you’re on the hook for the cost of the office visit until your deductible is met or part of the cost until your out of pocket is met.
      Hope that explains it okay ! If anyone has any questions feel free to ask here

    My mouth and health were ruined 19 years ago by a bad dentist. I have never been able to afford the needed repairs... and I cannot even begin to explain the horrific pain that I have suffered every day since getting the procedure for veneers. Lawsuits by many other people before I could get restitution left me with no real help either. The veneers that he did put in were "temporary" and crumbled away within weeks while I was serving in Iraq as a Civilian contractor. Even though I am a veteran, they will not do anything for me because it happened after I retired from the US Navy.
    I cannot imagine how much more damage someone like her, who wasn't even licensed in the first place did to her victims.

      We had a licensed dentist (a white dude in ties and well put together in a nice office) for three years who made a mess of our teeth. But he was very nice and looked the part of professional and knowledgeable.
