Nobody was raped because they were accused of a crime, they were raped because he's a damn predator and had access to women that were completely vulnerable and couldn't defend themselves.
You're correct. Like most interviews on television, context was cut, sounds like she was referring to the response of some that say "well, they were criminals, that's what they get for being criminals," which is awful, and not ok. I believe that was one of the women's lawyers, basically saying it was NOT ok that this happened to her, the fact she was or is an alleged criminal does not make the crimes against her okay or justifiable.
I think she said that because that’s the way they think. I recall having a group discussion with individuals in the dominant society who all felt prisoners deserve whatever happens to them. It was extremely shocking. So, in that context, I literally think she was talking to her inner voice and saying “ okay they don’t deserve to be r@ped”. There appears to be a lack of empathy in some communities.

As a woman who did time in a women’s state prison… I FULLY agree with you. This is not an isolated case whatsoever. And there are a lot of cases in which male guards were fired for having consensual contact with female prisoners and brought them in contraband from the outside. In those cases in court it was said that any prisoner male or female cannot consent to any sexual activity while in custody. I cannot begin to tell you the things I experienced and the things I witnessed. I couldn’t agree more than there should be 0 men at women’s prisons and 0 women at men’s prisons. There was a case where 2 guys in NY state escaped and it was because a female who worked at the prison in some capacity fell “in love” with one of the guys. We’d so much much much less of that crap.

Because of who they are, a lot of their complaints get swept under the rug as retaliation against guards and there ARE people who would lie to get a guard in trouble. But if there’s irrefutable evidence that can be accessed at any time to confirm what they’re saying, it can stop at ONE victim instead more than dozens.
Or at least there should be a woman guard present and not just a man if they’re transporting women…

Private contractors are also a big part of the problem. They have hired convicted sex offenders and concealed their identities during DOJ investigations in order to pay a lower hourly wage and increase profits. Cops and Prison Officers should not be private.

This shyt happens all over the world. Cops in San Bernardino open fire on a 15 year old Italian girl who was being released by her father who took her hostage. The father let her go and as she was following the directions of an officer and while she was unarmed, they thought they heard gun fire coming from the Van for which the girl was released and they immediately open fire killing the 15 year old girl! Upon reaching the van they found the father dead inside more than likely from a self inflicted gunshot wound! However the protocol for action being taken in an hostage negotiation wasn't followed and the hostage a 15 year old high school student was brutally gunned down by azzholes who ended up being hired as Police Officers! The San Bernardino Police Department failed to release the video for two years and the States Prosecutor did not file charges against the Cops!

But everyone will sue even the ones who weren't assaulted. And keep in mind that any sex between inmate and correctional officer is labeled as SA. A female correctional officer was caught having sex with a male inmate and she was charged with the R-word. But I will admit I doin't know the details of this case.

That's not unheard of. Some places have Officers solo supervising whole pods of inmates. This usually happens in counties that are experiencing staffing shortages due to low pay or just plain nobody wanting to work there. Which you can't really blame them if you get paid little more than a fast food worker and expected to accept the realities of corrections work. So the only people you get applying are people with no other job options due to low education, poor community opportunity, or those who intentionally take the job due to the vulnerable population you can exploit or sell drugs and cell phones to.

This guy probably figured who’s going to believe these women that are prisoners over me and I transport them.
That's how folk like him think. Which is why they will do all that they do.
Here in South Carolina a few years ago we had one of these transport guards drive two women prisoners into a flooded road and he got out and left the two shackled inmates in the van to be drowned. Inhumane way to let someone die.

Anyone working for a correctional institution, government, or the police has to be thoroughly screened. Background check, psychological evaluation, and polygraph. So either he had done this before, and he had a clean background and knew how to pass a polygraph, or he started doing this out of nowhere...

No they don’t unfortunately. The guards to be spiteful can also turn the heat all the way up in the summer, or cold air on in the winter. The prisoners have no access to windows or any temp control while the guard has a wall up so the temperature is not affecting them

Police (and guards) should be forced to wear bodycams they can't turn off. I work in state service and I expect to be monitored whenever I'm on the clock, I do simple data stuff pertaining to water systems, not exactly loads of room for life-changing abuse. Stakes are much higher with police.

Surely a transport male correctional officer should be accompanied by a female officer in these circumstances at all times as well as wearing a camera/ audio recording device on while in the presence of all prisoners at all time.
That's how it used to be. Female prisoners were always accompanied by a female matron, they were never left alone with male police or correction personnel.

I mean, everything is possible, just costs more money. Pretty sure it doesnt take much effort to make all male prison staff male, and female staff female. It would just be extremely inefficient, and people like you would later complain "why cant the females work in male-dominated places, that is segregation, etc"
When I was working as a Detention officer and a female had to be transported to another facility, I had to ride along due to liability purposes and I am surprised that they let him just take females from one location to another alone, Crazy!!!

This transportation needs to be handled by a federal agency like the U.S. Marshalls in my opinion. I think it was last year here in N.W. Indiana one of these private prisoner transport vehicles was in a McDonalds drive thru (with an inmate in the vehicle) who managed to escape whie in the line.) They didn't even call 911 immediately. I think the inmate got caught eventually.
To make it so bad they were about 15-20 minutes from the county jail, so why even stop when your almost at your destination. Poor decision making by the guard stopping in a town where the inmate was from, or at least from the area. The inmate probably could have run home.
