Simple answer for that - relocate them back to Portland where they once were. And who says there has to be even # of USFL and XFL? There was an XFL team in Orlando. USFL once had teams in Portland, Oklahoma and Oakland. Also Jacksonville and Arizona (and this was before the NFL had teams there).

I honestly think that the IFL and AFL for indoor/arena football should also consider putting more teams in markets that don’t have NFL teams. Maybe St. Louis? I think that would be a good idea.

Gotta put a team in San Diego. The original USFL desperately wanted a franchise there back in the 80s but the Chargers and NFL blocked them at every turn. Now that they have abandoned a loyal market that fully deserves a team, a spring team would be ideal. Spring time football in San Diego would be awesome - especially at the right-sized stadium now on the site of the Murph!

    • @shadowcrusader1158
      @shadowcrusader1158 Před 28 dny

A very good idea. I would really love to see spring football in San Diego, in a way the cities story is almost identical to St. Louis. Both had football teams that left for money, and both were abandoned despite being loyal markets, and both had made plans to try and keep their respective franchises from moving.

I think the plan should be that teams that are brought in are attached to each other. So if Seattle came back, Portland should be brought in as well, if they can get an agreement with the Portland Timbers/Thorns. If New Orleans doesn't come back Portland becomes the Breakers, just like what happened in 1985.

I do hope the UFL will be a permanent fixture and will partner up with the NFL. I would like to see what FOX and the USFL were trying to do and bring back all the former USFL teams. I know it will probably take up to 10-15 years with future expansion. Well, this is what I wish the UFL would eventually be like with a league of 28 teams. Once again there would be 2 Conferences, the USFL conference and the XFL conference. Each conference would have 14 teams in them with 2 divisions (with 7 teams in them). The USFL conferences 2 divisions would be the North and South divisions. The North division would consist of the Chicago Blitz, Denver Gold, Hartford Federals (formerly the Washington Federals), Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars, and the Pittsburgh Maulers. The south division would be the Austin Gamblers (formerly the Houston Gamblers), Birmingham Stallions, Jacksonville Bulls, Memphis Showboats, New Orleans Breakers, Orlando Warriors (formerly the Orlando Renegades), and the Tampa Bay Bandits. The XFL conference would have the East and West divisions. The East division would consist of the Arlington Renegades, DC Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, Ohio Guardians (formerly the Orlando Guardians, and yes they play in Canton Ohio), Oklahoma Outlaws, San Antonio Brahmas, and the St. Louis Battlehawks. The West division would consist of the Arizona Wranglers, Los Angeles Express, Portland Vipers (formerly the Vegas Vipers), Salt Lake City Gunslingers (formerly the San Antonio Gunslingers), San Diego Wildcats (formerly the LA Wildcats), Seattle Sea Dragons and the Oakland Invaders (it would probably be San Jose or Sacramento, Northern California for sure for the Invaders since the stadium in Oakland is in dire need of repairs). I know there will be people saying the San Diego team should be the Fleet but that was an AAF team (and the UFL does not have the rights to them) and besides the USFL/XFL would rather bring back the Express and Wildcats. The regular season would be a 13-game season

I honestly feel like the reason the UFL stadiums aren't as full as the XFL and USFL ones from last year is because they didn't really start advertising and ticket sales until a month before kick off. This was a good video. I watched both leagues and enjoyed them. As for the four teams. I would like to see the Guardians return to the New York to reunite their feud with D.C., and move the Roughnecks back to the XFL. I thought it was dumb to rebrand the Gamblers because I think Houston can support two teams. For the USFL side, I would love to see Philly, New Jersey, and New Orleans. Philly and Jersey had a rivalry and so did New Orleans and Birmingham. The league should focus on bringing back to teams that were left out first before they go to new markets.

I don't think Seattle is necessarily a no-brainer. They have a big fan base, yes. Unfortunately, their fans didn't really show up in 2023.
I know they had pretty good attendance in 2020, but considering they play in a huge nfl stadium, they need to draw 25k fans consistently for a team to be financially sensible.

Looking at the stats at the halfway mark, I wouldn't be surprised if the Breakers came back to NOLA. They're the 3rd biggest local market that tunes into games, so they're probably in a prime position. I know they couldn't secure a stadium in time, but hopefully they can get it done for next year!
The league is doing better, but only slightly. TV viewership is up almost 30%, and even though we already know who's in the playoffs, the quality of play is good! We probably won't get 4 teams next year, though. It'll probably be 2; one on each end. Presuming no teams relocate (which they shouldn't!), the smart money is on the return of the Breakers and the Sea Dragons.
What sucks is that apparently NY and LA are off the table right now. Those are your biggest, what I call, "anchor cities." They're the biggest markets out there. They bring in more viewers and attendance cause everyone wants to beat those big-city snobs! Yet due to all the regulation involved, it's not in play. If they can make it happen, next expansion, kill two birds with one stone: Revive the Generals and Guardians at Metlife or Red Bull.

Good channel. I agree with you on this. I don’t totally agree with staying away from NFL cities because that is where greatest fans thirsting for spring football would be at. But I do think non overlap with cities in either league or within each league. Yes Houston, Dallas, LA, NY, Philadelphia and others are big enough to have two teams. But I would focus on cities that are passionate about football but not necessarily all professional football and sports teams markets.
So what I am saying is have four added in prominent cities that were supporting before in both leagues and have NFL and venture into new cities but still major cities.
Seattle is a pro football and college football town. So you could counter with Portland Oregon as their added non professional NFL football city. New York City could be your NFL pro sports city and Piscataway or Atlantic City New Jersey would be your non NFL city. San Diego as your non NFL city and Las Vegas as your NFL city for a UFL teams. El Paso as your non NFL city and Denver as your NFL city for UFL teams.
If league succeeds and survives and stays and want to go to 32 teams later on, then cities like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Austin, Oakland, Salt Lake City, OKC, Tulsa, Santa Fe, Baltimore, Shreveport, Topeka, Albuquerque, Reno, Beaumont, Tucson, Louisville, Albany, Sacramento, San Francisco, Burlington, Bangor, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta, Cleveland, Toledo, St. Paul/Minneapolis, Little Rock, Richmond, Charleston, Raleigh, and Chattanooga are potential destinations that could be considered.
Now I am a Texan and the more Texas and Louisiana and New Mexico and Oklahoma teams the better.

The West Coast & Midwest need consideration. Geographically this league is in 1 region of the country mostly in the South or Southeast. A Seattle - Portland package I would say however geographic disadvantage if these teams are in opposite conferences (Portland Breakers possibly?). The thing is to try not to get into existing NFL markets. Outside of Canton & Orlando the cities of San Diego and Oakland need to be selected fairly soon.

However, they need to find a stadium (doesn’t have to be Acrisure, there are several colleges in the city) so I would understand them being low on the list. I’m fine with Seattle being the next XFL team, and bring back an old USFL west coast team if a traveling partner helps make it work. Otherwise, have Pitt/Philly/New Jersey fight over it. Houston should go to El Paso or else Little Rock Albuquerque, or Tulsa. Memphis should get a complete rebrand and go to Honolulu with a name like Hawaii Islanders Lava, Fury or Sharks or better yet Hawaii Breakers. Michigan should go to Omaha or Milwaukee. For expansion they should take it easy, but I would try to go with Sault Lake City, Boise, Louisville, and Anchorage. You could use old XFL and or USFL names like Dragons, Gold, Legends etc.. But some other great names would be Utah Lakers, Boise Mountaineers, Louisville Wildcats, and Anchorage Kings. The key is to go to cities that don't have NFL teams, preferably in States without a NFL team, or a market were the NFL teams are not doing well.

It is kind of sad, but in the first incarnation of the USFL back before 2000 the Tampa Bay Bandits were the most successful franchise. At that point, the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers were terrible, the owner, Hugh Culverhouse, was investing in his property empire and taking all the Bucs profits for that and not investing in the team. So back then with Steve Spurrier as coach, and the team they put together, they won games all three seasons never winning the championship but getting close every year in the playoffs. Then, after its return a couple of years ago they had trouble getting people to watch their games playing in Birmingham all season. They folded after one season as the Bucs today are successful run by the Glazers and they could not get Tampa fans.

Gotta bring back Philadelphia and New Jersey. Flagship teams. And they don't have to be previously existing teams. There were USFL teams in Portland, Oklahoma, Jacksonville, Oakland. If they don't bring back New Jersey USFL, the XFL can resurrect the New York Hitmen from 2001. One more thing, I don't understand why, especially this year, the USFL and XFL have to be conferences. There have been about 20 USFL teams all-time. If the 16-team league has 10 USFL and 6 XFL so what? Even this year, the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) are in the USFL conference instead of the Houston Gamblers. What gives? I would also prefer cities that don't have NFL teams.

If the 2024 UFL season proves to be a success, I have an idea what teams could be in the UFL for 2025 - XFL (Los Angeles, Tulsa) and USFL (San Diego, Tempe, AZ)

I dont Agree with LA, There's already 2 NFL teams. Not sure if fans would migrate to Spring football. San Diega makes more sense and there are stadiums available. As for the cities, I agree.

The whole point is put pro football where there isn't any in smaller but thirsty markets. Omaha, Boise, Salt Lake City, somewhere in the Virginas, Louisville, Myrtle Beach perhaps, Oklahoma City etc.
San Diego would be good, Tempe possibly, but defintely not LA.
