  • A few days ago, Rema released his debut album, 'Rave and Roses.' Some called it monotonous, while others called it the best thing since sliced bread.

BRILLIANT! You heed and appreciate diligently.
Jo wasn't in my top 5 earlier but now it's my 2nd best after Are You There?!
The arrangement of songs was astute and they had that fine idea of uploading the whole album as one on CZcams so that we actually take note of that
Love and Oroma Baby were literally WizKid singing and Rema taking the credits. Addicted is The Weekend.
I believe a Love N Affection video will be a great idea for that extra stream outreach. Are You There definitely needs a video as it's literally time for such consciencious statements building up to election season. A Wine video will connect with a lot more francophone fans too.
On a personal note, I think D Prince is not appreciated enough for how he's building the career for Rema and Ruger.
I learnt a lot following this. Mad respect for you Motolani and shoutout to my guy asking the questions.

The little thing i do observe is that when you have a massive run before dropping your debut it going to raise up expectations.. Especially when you have no miss look at teni for example are debut album was not that great compared to the things she has been dropping before hand... But Rema's album was a good one, if this roll out was in his first year people will have different views about it.

Morbid as some of the criticism of Rave and roses 🌹 maybe, I honestly give credit to this guy analyzing this album. He knows exactly what he is talking about. The album is not only good but it is a magnificent art work. People saying the album is wack is because they see Rema as a threat to Wizkid, Fireboy and the likes. But really, he isn’t a threat to Wizkid who has paid his due or the likes. The space is really wide enough for everyone and believe me, Fireboy and others are really enjoying their spaces. Having said all that, Rave and Roses is a top notch 🔥🔥🔥

  • @alfredwilliams6788

This analysis is spot on...exactly my sentiment...I feel the song selections were the hardest part, especially because of what MIL already did. MIL sort out shifted people's sound expectations and I feel Rema was trying to flow in that direction to avoid upsetting fans...because there were some songs I have heard that I thought would make the album. Dope tracks but they weren't included...except there's a deluxe on the way, I would be quite disappointed...

Please don't be biased. get your facts right. He said he connects more to Burna Boy's story and that I can agree with him. Some Nigerian artists should know that singing about women, love and sex are boring. They should know how to diversify their music while singing or writing songs.
We have political problems, societal, environmental problems, yet they only focus about singing about women only which is abysmal.
Fela Kuti and Majek Fashek never did that.
We should learn to be political in our music sometimes. I am tired of sexual music on a daily basis.

    • @confidenceago8890
      @confidenceago8890 Před 2 lety

@@lekanabiola4799 first off, let me give you a lesson on etiquette: don’t come on social media and sound rude or look to insult people, it’s a gutter behaviour. Make your point and move.
Now, when we speak of ‘monotony’, it’s all about sameness in tone or sound, and MIL was all that. It had a mix of reggae and pop, with one or two afrobeats sound. The album was one dimensional, in fact, most albums are. Sonically it was same though the rhythms differ; the use of percussion too was same which I believe was meant to make it ‘African’ even though not all were really afrobeats.
Most albums are one dimensional cause the artiste has what he’s looking to achieve with it and people don’t really complain, but in Nigeria -cause we’re too used to beats- we tend to complain a lot. That’s why people like Davido try to be multidimensional and it hurts his album atimes. Rema made a beautiful body of work but Fan rivalry and expectation bias, like Tolani said, is why some people are having their say.
So yes, MIL was one dimensional but just like RnR, it’s a great album.
