Sinking of the HMHS Britannic

- HMHS Britannic departed from Southampton for Lemnos on its sixth voyage. At approximately 8:15 AM on November 21, some 2 miles (3 km) from Kéa island, Greece, an explosion occurred on the ship. Initial reports suggested the cause as either a mine or a torpedo, though later evidence pointed to a mine. (In October a German U-boat had laid mines in the area.) Although damage was extensive, only six of the watertight compartments flooded, and the ship remained afloat. As the ship listed, water began to enter open portholes on the starboard side. In an attempt to beach the ship off Kéa, Capt. Charles Bartlett ordered full speed. The movement, however, caused more water to enter the ship, and Bartlett quickly ordered the engines stopped. At approximately 9:07 AM the Britannic sank. (While the Titanic took 2 hours and 40 minutes to founder, the Britannic was lost in about 55 minutes.) Several boats came to rescue the survivors, including the Scourge and Heroic. Despite the speed of its sinking, only 30 people were killed. More than 1,030 were saved.

The bow actually broke when it touched the bottom, also the funnels broke
Yup!
Well
The point is my man ended the video too soon.
And then I guess we can’t see the bow break cause the vid ended.
@@sfsinfinity5862 no he means the well deck split open when the bow hit the sea floor while the stern was still out of water.
@@ClementinesCoins F A X
Yeah
Ironically.
*The funnels didn’t fall from water pressure in this animation.*
its almost impossible to actually know what happened and how ships like these sank because its kinda like a game of telephone someone says something and another says something kinda like it and then all the way until the end you get an "answer"
The hull didn't bend either. Still a good video, demonstrates the depth well.
It was probably rushed
@@ubme21 Her sinking was seen from shore
@@TheLavanderTown yes from kea
I think the bow of the brittanic dug itself in the dirt so deep that when the stern fell the ship had a crack on one of the side
Correct
The bow hit the floor and dug itself so deep when the stern hit the bow tore and broke off the impact was so intense the funnels all fell off
WOW. Amazing!
I love your videos. Ever think about an Empress of Ireland video
Oooohhhu yesss!!!!
This is strangely satisfying to watch. The way it just rests on the bottom at the end 👍
Very nice perspective…
Ooooohhhh!!!! So thats why at the end it just unrealistically slipped into the water it sank in shallow waters....OK now that makes sense but still
That's brutal!!!!!
And that explains why the bow of the Britannic's wreck is cut off from the rest of the ship, the impact broke the bow apart from the ship.
Also the bow broke
are you really hating on an animation because it can’t be realistic
@@Bluemantopvids Dude i now know Its realistic. The stern just awkwardly slipped into the water because the bow touched and now is bringing the rest of the beef in.
@@YourlocalNeighborhoodKid Ok
Returning back to this for the anniversary of the sinking...
I'm surprised the bow of the Britannic didn't break or at least crack up when it roughly hit the ocean floor!
Well it did, there is an huge hole in the one side of the ship
@@Angelthewolf that "huge hole" is where the mine struck.
@@conahtolley6335 i know that
@@Angelthewolf oh my bad.
Nice job bro
heres how the britannic sunk!:
Britannic was in the Aegean sea and it hit a german mine on the starboard, then it was going down from the bow to stern, then when the ship hit the sea floor, the bow broke and it was starboarded, the ship then tipped to starboard and then the 2 funnels came off, some lifeboats were launched late so the lifeboats were crushed, then the ships last 2 funnels broke and began its final plunge, it hit the sea floor on its starboard
wrong. The third funnel fell, second funnel fell, fourth funnel fell, then the ship hit the floor which made the 1st funnel fall
Tell Bluemantopvids He's Wrong
She was also moving forward when her bow hit the floor hence the giant damage!
Britannic sank in shallow water
now try to imagine if it didnt try to beach itself chances are it would be at least 500ft deep
@@captainAlex258 then we would need a sub like James Cameron to discover it and it would take longer like the titanic with Robert ballard
@@YourlocalNeighborhoodKid were talking about 500ft deep not 2 miles down my guy
@@Dibbles2005 Britannic still took 70 years to find despite being in shallow waters
The wreck isnt exactly in shallow water being 390 feet below sea level. It also takes highly experienced divers to dive to the wreck.even then the wreck is dangerous
That wss very impressive!
Très intéressant ! A quel moment s'est-il cassé en deux ? En heurtant le sol lors du naufrage ou est-ce avec le temps sur un sol instable ? Merci.
It was by it hitting the ground
It was by hitting tha gruond

The funnels did not fall and the bow did not break the animation was amazing however next time make the funnels fall and the bow break when it hits the ocean floor
Damn so cool 😎 😍 👌 🙌 👏
Bro forgot to make the funnels collapse
they didnt until she hit the sea floor. (at least during the irl sinking, this is just a basic anim)
@@sp1n4l_sn4p they did fall
What’s the real theory of the Britannic sinking??
The movie or the modern one
Modern, the movie sucks ass.
The movie version was nowhere near accurate. Britannic struck a naval mine at 8am not a torpedo
I know that I meant the sinking of how it fully capsized on the starboard side and disappearing within seconds
So the modern britannic then?
The movie is absolutly terrible at depicting Britannic
Why dooesnt it break in half like titanic? Double hull, improvements, the contact with the sea floor, the list, on and on... questions.
if it didnt try to beach I'll bet it would of sunken deeper
Yess
If you don’t swim you will sink
@@YourlocalNeighborhoodKid yes like 500 or 600ft deep
They where far from land and if they didn’t they would stay there and the farther you are from lane the deeper the water is so yes you are right.
Wow
Britannic's smoke stacks fell as she sunk
This is a crazy sinking but only 32 died and all the people aboard before it sinks is 1066
30*
The bow snapped when it hit bottom but very good layout nonetheless mate.
wow!
The bow broke away from the middle and stern section, also the funnels fell, but you could have had the model that didn’t do that
All that needs to be repaired is the bow and the funnels
why the funnels not fall?
That is nice
Its Crazy How In A Span Of 25 Minutes. Britannic Sank And There Was Only 30 Casualites [Rest In Peace]
Meanwhile... The Titanic Sunk Slowly In 3 Hours And There Was 1,500 Casualities [Rest In Peace]
Make another video as Titanic and Lusitania Sinking with how many feet of water
The funnel should’ve fell there would’ve been explosions of air on the back of the Stern as well Forget the front of the bowel section breaking off
Wow. Cool
Cool 🎉😮
So.....why didnt it break in half like titanic?
When the 4th funnel is submerged the bow should’ve hit the bottom
The professional divers can really touch per had the britannic.
why funnels didnt fall
Why are the funnels not falling
It needs the funnel fell
imagine this ship split as well..
Make a video of a room flooding until it’s full please
The bow broke when it got the bottom and the funnels did not fall
I can't belive it! How did the ship touched the bottom of the ocean 😮
ecause u dum
Because the sea floor there was not that deep
😃
Because the place where Britannic sunk was only about 120 meters deep. Compared to Britannic's length of about 270 meters. When you consider those two factors.. yes it hit the bottom because the ship is over twice as long as the water is deep.
At least Britannic sank in shallow water
He hit the ground so it break in two half
It’s a *She*
1. it is a she
2. she is not the titanic, the britannic did never break in 2 parts
@@AngelthewolfIt did, some of the stuff is still attached to the other side of the bow like the bow pulling the stern of titanic down + why did you say she’s not titanic he already knows ding dong.
The sunken britannic doesn't have that much damages than the titanic. it is possible for it to be repaired.
Was the same damaged
This sunken ship from 1916? Oh for sure, theyre gonna put it wings and make it fly
What was this animated in?
Rest in peace Britannic
there is 2 incorrect stuff
1: funnels did not fall off
2: the bow snapped when it hit the sea floor when she was going down on her starbord side.
And both of them we're not necessary
@@SpartanMap i mean if you're looking for accuracy they sure are necessary seen as the wreck clearly has a giant hole going through the forward well deck and no funnels that are still attached to the ship
this is to show how it hit the sea bottom, not some accurate sinking
why he didn't not break on bow and didn't break funnel??????
0:05 this is the position where the Britannic (2000’s theory) would’ve sunk
Can you make the funnel fall
Can you make what if the britannic sank in deeper water
Why don‘t the funnels fall off?
because they didnt until she struck the sea floor.
@@sp1n4l_sn4p they did
@@sp1n4l_sn4p research is a cool thing you should learn about :D
the bow didnt crack and funnels didnt fall
the bow didnt break, (Edited) the funnels also didnt fall
Why didn't her funnels fall, Like they did in real life?
the vidoe was 33 sec right or wrong
Why didn't the funles fall off
Have you done a Titanic vid if not please do one
I think i have
Oceans are very deep! HOWW?!!!
Its not in the ocean, it in the Aegean Sea
Oh ok
It was in the kea channel
why it's funnel didt fall
Animation on a budget
thats how britnnic fell hit by the bottom of sea floor
the bow didn't break
that's basically a child playing witha plastic model in a bathtub
And the funnels? The need collasp
How many people died in this one?
30
I was very surprised when it was only 36
Mmm yes water
the bow fell of on the collisio with the floor
всё хорошо но почему трубы не падают?
brittanic didnt sink so fast it sanked only 55 min that almost 1 hour 🤨🤔
Good animatiom but too fast

Game name?
It very faster to sink i am need to slow
Britannic
That ship sink in 1915 want I was a litter boy
It sank in 1916
ok
The funnels did not fall also there was no bow break unrealistic
its a basic animation and its actually quite rare for funnels to collapse during a sinking, titanic’s collapsed due to the placement of the expansion joints.
@@sp1n4l_sn4p those funnels fell because of 1. The water pressure building on the thin metal that made the funnels not the placement of the expansion joint. 2 they are not gonna hold on at that list as they never were designed too.
@@sp1n4l_sn4p this was before I was a ship enthusiast
@@randomuser9883 not me forgetting to reply to this
Yeah i misheard something on a youtube documentary mb 😭😭
