Not enough space for a lot of big cable

- Recently I have been asked to finish a job that someone else had started.
The cables were glanded whilst the cable gang were on site. This aided them getting the cables into such a tight space. They then realised to their horror at the limited space they had to finish the terminations.
When I arrived on site they asked if I could complete the task. I said it wasn't going to be easy but that I'd give it a go.
As I said from the start of the video, it's wasn't going to look like a perfect painting or a well crafted piece of furniture but I'd do the best with what I had been given.
Unless you are doing this type of electrical installation work, no one will understand how difficult this is. It’s not just about the physical side. You need to think and plan out your steps methodically by looking at the lay of the cores and how they’ve fell when glanded, avoiding cores fouling each other when crossing over, what bending radius you have and distance to terminals. One wrong cut and game over.
This is very good work.
BANG right mate.
Lovely cutter that
Beautiful job for the tiny space you've been given!
I had to terminate a 70 in a Glasgow without a spreader box and I thought that was hard let alone that! What a job! If you don’t do this stuff day in day out you don’t understand how difficult it actually is! What a decent job that is!
A short bit of 25mm conduit is great for trying to bend cores in tight cubicles like that ...great job again
Buddy considering what you had to work with, I'd say you worked that out pretty damn well 👍.
Absolute shocking switchgear what are the designers thinking , I or are they being told the cable is loads smaller , but to be fair that’s cable box is of such a size you would struggle with most cable types I bet I know who’s gear that is with the comedy Incommer space
Hi Tony,
The best cable jointer around ! I watch all your videos - the content is fab !This job looks brilliant considering the space you had to work in. Theo Webster - electrician made a reference that he could have done with you on one of his jobs. Did you have a chat will bleeper man ! Looking forward to your next upload ! Stay safe, keep well. 👌
Great as always Tony get your self some core twisters bud they come in 95 185 and 300 ideal for tight spaces i may have a set in shed if u cant get any 👍
Well Tony with the very limited space. you have done an absolutely brilliant job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Top work tony probably the best and tiger have ever seen , I would love to see the cable call for the 4x185 I gaureentee it’s wrong
Hell of a challenge there, You are the man for the Job! finished result looks great!
Fantastic as per usual Tony. 😊
Tight that nice job but think I would of done l3 on the second cable first after the first set was away took it behind the l2 would of gained some room
Looks spot on that Tony 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Top man yes I am 57 be doing it for a while you are better than me keep going
Top man! you know what you are doing mate, nice to see.
Hi Tony. Were the very rear set of lugs already torqued properly if not they look as though it would be virtually impossible to do?
Great work !
As good as you could make it, daft design for 4 x 185to be terminated ono
Won't they all have to be undone and moved out the way to allow them to be correctly torqued? 😉
At second cable, from left, the grey wire should be behind other. And, after that, for next cables, 3 and 4, would have been easier.
Great work Tony, yes the drive need some more training. Why could the sparks not bring two of the cables through the gland plate more towards the front of the cabinet?
Does this show inexperienced?
Dunno did Tony get there and it was already glanded?
You still make it look easy. Tony. What crimping tool do you use?
It looks fine .. for only 36cm space .. bending 185mm² nice job !
He’s driving a telehandler Ynot, he’s got to be fick! 😂😂
What happens if you double up on the busbars per phase but the cable length per phase differs in length…. Like your L3 might be longer than L1 cause the cable entry is more towards L1 side and then cable 2 enters more towards the L3 side making your L1 length longer on cable 2 than on cable 1?
Youre only talking a few inches maximum, i dont reckon it would cause that much disparity.
Could you not of got the 2md grey behind the blue and brown?
