When Kevin Kline's character got her in the mood by speaking Italian to her, he was just reciting items off an Italian menu.

His "russian" sounded like German and a few words I deciphered sounded like ye olde archaic church poem. These two minutes almost turned me into lesbian.
Source: I am Ukrainian, we are forced to learn russian and are beheaded by russians if we don't... I want to forget that cursed language.

It's Lermontov, and he does it with enormous conviction, but whoever taught him the pronunciation was a bit... off... but if you find the text of the poem, it makes more sense/you can kind of follow it. Ish. LOL Лермонтов, Молитва. (For some bizarre reason, it also seems to be a bit mixed and muddled with the order of the lines, which is also confusing.)
(It makes me feel a lot better about my own Russian that a native speaker couldn't follow it. About the only words that I understood without having the text to hand were далеко, плачется & легко 😳😂 I thought it was just a symptom of me being wildly out of practice.)

When I was dating... meeting women from the online dating sites... one of my questions was... What do you think about the movie "A Fish Called Wanda?"
The only woman to answer that question to my satisfaction is the one I am with today... and she loves it when I use my Russian voice.

Having re-watched the movie pretty recently, I'm not so sure. Another way to read that is it started to humanize him a bit more in her eyes. Another step in the process of realizing that he's not the kind of guy she initially assumed him to be. It's kind of sweet, in my opinion.
