honey, you are only 15! don’t rush into being an adult! enjoy your youth and freedom to be you. college will come, but, it can’t teach you to be you! you lit up the most when you were asked about your dog ~ me too! and the last thing the world needs is another modern music, pop artist. we need originals and same of the older, great tunes to come back with a beautiful voice such as yours ~ kind of like those sailor looking button up both sides in the front pants! xoxoxox

Thank you for answering our questions! I think it's great that you're interested in other things besides music. You're very level headed for considering a double major and doing music on the side. Because you're so talented, I can see you being pressured to do music as your main career but I think it's great that you're able to express what YOU want to do. Agreed to most comments below. I am sure you are aware of the power of your voice. Whatever you do, PLEASE keep in mind that you are unbelievably exceptional!! I'm old enough to be your grandma....and I think you are wonderful! Love the older songs you choose to cover...your voice is sweet/salty and soooo moving. Have you ever listened to Van Morrison, thought about covering any of his songs (I'm thinking Tupelo Honey) ? I look forward to seeing where life leads you!
Yes Van Morrison is a good choice. Also try Chris Rea, his album On the Beach is cool.

Absolutely one of the best female vocalists I've ever heard! I grew up singing in a boy's choir, that toured every summer. We sang many venues, The Whitehouse Christmas party's, Carnegie Hall with the Vienna Boy's Choir, the Governor's Mansion Christmas party every year, With the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, on and on.
I know voice! I'm 62 years old now, and have lost the crispness of my own voice.
You young lady, should be catapulted into stardom as big as any out there if that's what you want! It's a rugged life, so beware there's lot's of users in the music industry. Be careful who you become yoked with!

Dear Canen ,I heard "Ain't no sunshine" it was beyond beautiful, please consider one or more of Waylon Jennings songs like "the Hunger", "You asked me too", "Rose in paradise", "Walkin' " I would love to hear you do one or more (for example Nora Jones did a great job with a cover of "Wurlitzer Prize"), almost forgot "Dreaming my Dreams' The title song to my first Waylon album.

You should give backpacking a try, it is very satisfying. Be sure to get sound advice ether from a friend who does backpack or from an outdoor store like REI. REI offers numerous courses which will address all of your questions. Be sure to bring a camera!😄😄😄😄

Just wanted to mention Kris Kristofferson who wrote songs for Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Sammi Smith, etc. etc. and Willie Nelson also wrote hits for many singers I would guess his most famous was "Crazy" for Patsy Cline, as far as that goes I'll bet you would be fantastic covering any of Pasty's songs. Kathy Mattea is another great songwriter.

I would encourage you into anthropology. Not only does anthropology deal with languages and linguistics like you seem to be interested in, but if you focus on it in that field, it can also be directed toward music! Learning of music from cultures past can also help perhaps with your music in the future, which you already have a taste of by doing music covers from artists who are not modern singers.

Hi John! I have had a little more clarity since December. Next year, I plan on pursuing a “Music, Sound, and Culture” major at Tufts University and I’m suuuper excited :) Still writing originals and thinking about recording at some point too!

I read somewhere that language and music come from the same area of the brain, and I guess visual art too... let's call it the creativity section... learning a language is like learning a very complex song with all its nuances and dozens of verses. You could come to Australia to study the indigenous peoples and their languages, and while you're here play with a jazz band, or solo, I will bring my family and friends and we'll sit in the front row. Only people of high intelligence can sing as well as you do.
