  • In this beginners Pumpkin carving tutorial, I will show you how to carve a pumpkin like a pro. I'll go through how to make a stencil from any picture, the tools I use, and some of the basic principles of "Pumpkin shading" a style of Pumpkin carving that involves shaving the Pumpkin to different depths to make a design.
    I use the same stencil method regardless if I've drawn the image myself or working from a picture - for this tutorial I wanted to show something anyone can replicate, so I've selected a fairly easy image to work from.
    In other tutorials, I will be breaking down more complicated images and carving techniques, along with showing how to draw your own designs and adapting them so they can easily be carved on a Pumpkin.
    I hope you find this beginners Pumpkin carving tutorial useful, and feel free to ask any questions or put any design requests in the comments...viva la Pumpkin!

      Yes sir I'm but I'm going to carve them like you do it takes longer carving into the pumpkin for a 3d effect

      The longest I've ever spent carving a Pumpkin is 33hrs over 3 days. Something about it relaxes me, I love getting stuck into a big carve! I'd love to see what you carve when the time comes

    Should I use wax transfer paper??? I grabbed some wax-free transfer paper off of Amazon before watching this video, now I am wondering if I made a mistake. Does it matter if mine is wax-free do you think?

    • @PumpkinFreak
      @PumpkinFreak  Před rokem +1

      Yeah that's actually a mistake I made while recording, I meant to say wax free transfer paper.

      @@PumpkinFreak Cool, thank you very much for clarifying! I am going to get started on transferring and carving a Pennywise design for my son tomorrow. If it turns out decent, I will try to post on your FB. Thanks so much for the inspiration, lessons, and making me feel like maybe I can do this :D

    awesome. after you clean out the guts, how long will the pumpkins last looking that good?

    • @PumpkinFreak
      @PumpkinFreak  Před 2 lety +2

      A few days if you just leave them. But if you wash with bleach and cold water it'll last 10 to 14 days. If you paint in resin it'll last 3 to 4 weeks. I'll have a video coming out soon on how to make them last longer

    Love this, I know it’s been awhile but do you happen to know the dimensions or size of the photo you printed?

    • @PumpkinFreak
      @PumpkinFreak  Před 2 lety

      I have no idea, but I always adjust the size to fit the pumpkin I'm planing to put the image on.
