    This is super helpful. Thanks for slowing down the eyes and mouth process, it’s so hard to follow on other videos that speed through

      Thank you very much Matt! And thanks for watching! I am actually beginning to put ideas together on how to put some sort of online class for anyone who would be interested in learning the basics. Who knows, maybe I can do it next year. Let's see how it goes.

    I found the shadowing is very interesting. In for bright and out for dark. I find its backwards from what you'd expect. It's fun. Nice work. You need to light it up you carved it like carv ing wood. Try carving it like its lit fro. The jnside.

      +Tanya A I haven't tried yet! I love carving pumpkins mainly because of the size... that's why I haven't been inspired to venture to other fruit yet. I mean, I've seen some of the work some artist have done with watermelon and I'm in pure awe!

      bradley schilling haha! You have to look up the lady who promotes feminism by carving vulvas into fruit. I'm all for feminism but there has to be a better way. Last I heard she was on instagram.

    Excellent work, you're so very talented.
    May I ask if there's any way you can hollow them out to illuminate them after carving or would that be too detrimental to the carving?
    Tia x

    • @PauloMachadoPumpkins
      @PauloMachadoPumpkins  Před 6 lety +2

      +Marion Obrien absolutely! I think that you can even go a step further to where you can hollow out the pumpkin, put a light inside while carving, and carve as deep as you need to start seeing the light shine through! I think that would be cool!

    • @megapint1499

    In an earlier video, you are wiping the face with some kind of cloth. What is it, and is it soaked with an oil or something else?
    Thank you - you have a gift !

    • @PauloMachadoPumpkins
      @PauloMachadoPumpkins  Před 6 lety +2

      +PatriotBren1 thank you for the comment and question. What you see me wipe the pumpkin with is actually steel wool that I use to smooth and put the final touches on the pumpkin.

    my pumpkings get stringy when i get deep into the pumpkin. is there a way i can avoid this or is it just crummy pumpkins? Loved the vid anyways!

    • @PauloMachadoPumpkins
      @PauloMachadoPumpkins  Před 5 lety +2

      It could mean that you are carving too deep. You can tell that you are getting too deep by pressing with your thumbs around the area you are carving. If it is getting spongy, you are getting to that area where it gets stringy. Just watch for that... that will tell you if your pumpkin is perhaps not thick enough.

      Thank you for your answer. Excuse my bad english:). I tried to carve a face into a pumpkin last year with a normal clay tool set. I always had the feeling to not really carve the material it felt like just pressing it away. Then I saw a video of someone carving a pumkin and it looked like the tool had little sharpened tooths🤔
