- Do you want to be a paleontologist? Do you love reading and answering big questions? Do you love sharing important facts about fossils? Find out what paleo career is right for you! I'm here to talk about different career paths you can take in paleontology.
I wanted , and maybe still want to do palaeontology, but I chose a life in the art and design field. The closest I can currently do is to be a paleo artist as a hobby. Great video.
I'm the same, trained in art, but I'm doing a science degree with the open University, it's never too late if you want to learn something x
You could be a digital paleontologist. You can paint personal items
@@spruce8611 that is certainly something to consider, especially as in the summer I don't need to study as much. I'm on redbubble but I've only got watercolour birds on there at the moment, something to work on soon I think! 😊 Xxx
wait same??
Next year I'll be starting my bachelor of science to become a palaeontologist. I think I would be most interested in preparing fossils and a little bit of research. I love looking into different theories and learning more about how certain bones can tell different stories.
Thanks for this video, hope this channel grows and spread more Paleontology knowledge, keep it up mate!
You did a great job at explaining the different careers of paleontology because many people don’t know that and I’m glad someone did that👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Like paleontology is something I understand really quickly and love/passion with it since I was a child and never crossed my mind that is was boring and not interested it’s very interesting and awesome and I know I will be a great paleontologist
Thank you!!
Hi i personally want to thank you for shedding light on the requirements and different options I currently am starting my journey i come from nowhere special with no money and a high-school degree volunteering is where I'm at. With intent to move to rapid city and do volunteering at sdmt ultimately to do the preparation its always been my life's dream only now I can see a possible way to live it. All thanks to you
I'm only 14, not old enough to go to college yet, but from seeing this video I wanna become a Research Paleontologist and/or Paleo Artist, I wanna study how dinosaurs actually sounded all kinds, not just the Tyrannosaurids, but more like Gallimimus and Dreadnoughtus, and how they actually looked, it's just fascinating to me how ancient creatures must've sounded and looked like.
Same (roughly)
Me too... I'm interested in Titanosaurs (the best sauropods in my opinion), and Azhdarchidae, the super cool pterosaurs likes Hatzegopteryx and Quetzalcoatlus.
I am 15 and have loved dinos since birth you guys should definitely pursue it

As a paleontologist you have a wide knowledge in biology and geology, so you can work in nearly every area of this fields. I work now in conservation (paleo)biology, to understand how the ecological systems worked just before the human impact.
Im currently choosing my career subjects to study next year. This video helped me to know more about Palaeontology! I've been interested in Vertebrate Palaeontology for a while now, and this has really helped me - so thank you so much! ^^
Just discovered this channel. Loving it so far
I really liked this video! 💕✨💐 I love how diverse our field can be. 🥰
We really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really love your videos
fabulous video! thank you for the info
Nice work, Myria!! You make each role sound so approachable and encouraging! And it’s great that you’re sharing your own experience and perspective.
Thank you!!
That was interesting thank you!
My son wants to be a paleontologist so we are looking into everything! Great videos plz post more 🙂
Amazing video, I found it really helpful in considering an undergraduate
Great Video, Keep it up!
Love this!
Finally something good, so exhausted with politics news virus peoples thoughts and feelings. So glad to have something interesting to listen too
Love your videos! Look forward to learning more! I’ve always had a passion for dinosaurs but never really thought this career path was possible!
It's a small field that can be difficult to get into, but if you love what you do it's totally worth it!
@@Paleontologica I’m alittle to old to change careers but I would love to get involved in volunteering!!!
Great content! I think being a writer can also be a potential career option.
Thank u for all ur knowledge plz make sure to make more vids we need them TvT
genial video! saludos desde Argentina!
hi. i have loved paleontology in sennior highschool. everything ive learned i will bring me with me along.
I really like your voice and you are very clear. I hooe you make more videos.
I originally wanted to become a paleontologist in some way or form but I was a bit daunted by the amount of schoolwork needed for a job that isn’t super secure. (Needing grants and other stuff to fund your research) How does financial well-being play into becoming a paleontologist? Would one need to have another job to keep afloat until your research is picked up by an institution?
Thank you
Wow, that's a great and important question. I was beginning to type an answer to this but there is so much to say about the reality of careers in paleontology. I think this might be my next episode. Stay tuned!
I'm doing master's in geology, I'm aiming to be a researcher in Paleontology.
Hi , I am 10 years old . I love your channel and I love dinosaurs 🦕! I really want to become a palaeontologist in fossil preparation , how do I study for it ?
If you can volunteer at a local museum, experience in fossil prep will take you far!
Thanks
@@sheetalmalagi9913 hey my friend I'm ten as well I also want to become a palaeontologist
Thank you this has been really helpful and I’ve always been very interested in Dinosaurs 🦖 since I was 3 and thanks to you I think Ik what category I wanna be in
It's been my dream to become a science communicator for years. Will be starting collage next year.
thank you thank you
Currently working on vertical distribution of benthic foraminifera
Can you recommend some sources on fossil preparation and how to get into it? I'm an undergrad and interested in working in that field of paleontology.
what if your just interested in the discovery aspect, fossil hunting itself? im a fossil hunter and collector thats interested in a career in the field but only really find the most enjoyment in the field i even have a personal collection of close to 5000 fossils all uncategorized and unorganized and mainly small stuff but would love to learn more. great video btw
Hey, i’m from Pakistan and i’m an actual dinosaur nerd. Problem is, there isn’t much traction of the subject here in Pakistan but i want to pursue my dreams, although i have a Danish passport if that changes things. I’d just like to ask for your opinion on how i can become a paleontologist from Pakistan/Denmark
Can we earn decent money through paleontology ?
@@sitproperlywhilewatchingph423 damn i completely forgot ab this comment, so much has changed since
Mam I'm so stupid 😫😭 I'm doing diploma after 10th and now I'm in second year of diploma but I wanna be paleontologist. Can I become paleontologist after my diploma in mechanical engineering please tell me mam 🙏😭
Can you make a video on how to get into these career?
I fucked up my chances in school. So I will maybe just become a fossil myself
Hey Myria!!!
I have done my 12th with science with maths this year. To pursue paleontology, should I opt for Geology undergrad course or is there any other course specific to paleontology in Bachelors??
Woww
when you volunteer for a museum as a teenager what sort of stuff do you do (i am 15)
I would love to do this but it's quite rare in my country to have these kinds of careers it seems like access to these jobs are based in America
What paleontology volunteering could I do at 12? And also, who is your mentor?
Hello me again, I am 14 years old and turning 15 this year.I am in high school and I'm considering to choose Geology, Biology and Geography as my subjects. What are your thoughts on these Myria?
Hello! All of these are wonderful subjects! The beauty of Paleontology is that it is multidisciplinary. I'd encourage you to choose any/as many natural science subjects as you can.
I turn 16 this year, unfortunately my school added a geology as a class for next year, and I won’t have enough time to take the course. I hope you enjoy geology :)
How do you get into yhe digging and cracking open rock aspect of it? Personally thatd be my dream job but im nout sure how to ho about it. My current plan is 4 years of biology then two in a paleontology class. Any tips?
Can you do a video talking about the zuul a dinosaur with a massive tail club
I think I want to be a researcher, because I can make theories and in this field can you study fossils?
I just turned 34 years old and im a high school graduate though i would like to study to be a paleontologist
How much money would I get per month ? (Vertabra paleontology) , research paleontologist
I know it's kinda rude but may i ask you about how much is your salary
Just a dream. Out of my reach due to funds. And no jobs for my area to make it worth the effort. Don't want to move due to funds and family. I'll just enjoy from the sidelines lol
What specific subjects do you need to take to study for Paleontology?
Since paleo multidisciplinary, so many subjects are helpful! Any natural science subjects are great. Writing and reading courses will help a lot with research too!
Thx
Mam, I want to become a palaeonteologist please guide me🥺🙏🏻☺

can you two types of peleointoligy?
i meant peoleontoligist
Hey
It really helped me to get more confident in paleontology
I wanted to ask that do paleontologist work in groups or they work alone?
What an excellent question! GROUPS! Paleontologists almost always work with a team of others to study and prepare fossils.
@@Paleontologica thanks! for the answer are you doing a job or something in paleontology?
@@diya4206 I am currently in between jobs as a Fossil Preparator! I worked at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in the lab for 2.5 years and I start my contract in the FossiLab at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History next week!
Very nice for you!
Hello
