God King feels like the ultimate Warhammer 40k esque bad ending to Garen, like if everything went so wrong that he becames a ultra powerfull tyrant while having every flaw diled up to maximum

I always love seeing the path not taken. So many characters could have become something completely different without changing who they are. Garen buying into all the things he serves and becoming the one passing down the orders and deciding whats right and wrong is absolutely perfect. Its one of those things you could see actually happening if the world was just a little different or if something went wrong.
Same. Not only path not taken, but also the logical conclusion of their current path.
By design League's lore is very stagnant, so it's nice to see when a skin shows what they could be.
Its also funny that yet again, Garen is more interesting than Jarvan despite how basic Garen is and that Jarvan is supposed to be the ruler of Demacia. xD
I could actually see a version of Lux in this world as well, becoming what her family would accept more then she is: A Mage Seeker.
Some of the mage seekers can use magic but use it exclusively to hunt down other mages or in the defense of the kingdom, I can see a version of Lux that has gone down that path, especially after that one thing with the mage she befriended.
i would love to see a what-if skinline where each character gets this skin that tells their story but has something going wrong with it. like having swain go full on body horror-esque anthropomorphic crow demon cause of his deal with Raum going wrong, or yorick becoming a walking husk being puppeteered by the maiden in the case that the maiden's manipulation takes over him
100% agree! taking a character and cranking their traits up to 11 is such a great recipe for a legendary skin and i dont see it done enough

Even better that God-king Darius is still a perfect counter to his character. The king so full of devotion he can't see the pain he causes versus the king whose only ever seen the outcome of blind loyalty and uses pain to end that blind loyalty.
This. The God-King skins are pretty much "what if their might was not kept in check by their principles?" imo
It would be nice to get more skins of this line, like Jarvan or Swain
@@IronLordEXOPersonally I think God-King works best as a one-off skin since it’s premise is League’s two biggest rivals brought to their logical extremes. That and I’d rather not have it turn into another Nightbringer/Dawnbringer scenario.
But I am 100% on board with seeing a “versus” skin between J4 and Swain though. Those two need more love in the skin department in general, and it’s surprising that neither of them have Legendaries yet.

@@starbit5065J4 and Swain would be so difficult to pull off while being distinctly different from the two existing God King. It would water down everything if there’s too much overlap.
For the God Kong universe I like the idea that the two are more mellowed out as they take the place of their subordinates that rose above them. Or something really funny like J4 being idolized as a petricite statue (for desperately trying to fill the shoes his father left) and Swain as a million crows that come together in the shape of a human occasionally (blinded with control) and tries to perch on statue J4.

I love the concept of this skin because it feels like the kind of legendary skin that actually functions as a continuation of the character, just in a slightly different set-up. Skins like Sentinel Vayne, Primetime Draven, God Staff Jax, and many more feel like versions of champions that could achieve a certain feat in greatness, just not in this world. (yes, I can totally see draven becoming so much of a celebrity or known figure in Noxus that he could be some massive entertainer or broadcaster like primetime in the canon world, if enough years passed.)
God King Garen does this too, but shows his best AND worst traits in a legendary skin. All while still feeling like a more powerful version of him. You satisfy those who just want a powerful and cool-looking garen, while also giving non-mains something very interesting to be impressed by.

the issue is: you see nothing of that in the actual skin. going by nothing but the visuals, I'd go with Demacia Vice. It still portrays garren as a warrior for Justice (a neon 80s action-movie cop with a giant katana), but a very different version of that fantasy, relative to his base design. together with Rouge Admiral its the one skin that deviates from Garrens base-fantasy, while being very unique in Leauge as a whole. I really want more Demacia Vice skins ^^
Maybe Vayne and Quinn could fare in that Skin Line, being Released Togheter maybe by both being agile and daring Sharpshooters using crossbows.
Maybe even Jarvan and Shivana, but I would wait for a possible Shivana Grafic rework for that.
For a champ that’s been around since day one, there are certainly a lot of skins for what is probably seen as the most basic of champions. And yet there’s no denying that this legendary certainly does an amazing job in telling a “what if” story of a man who let his ego get the best of him.
Really would be an interesting story to explore further for the “self-styled Messiah” and what lengths he would go to that would set him apart from those who currently run the country.
That and let’s be honest: Kitty Dance. That alone would have already cemented this as his best skin.
For a champion who has so little animations, like garen and Darius, the god king skins are a freaking banger that makes it feel soooo much "heavier" than the rest, like Darius's Q for example, it's a simple animation but in that skin just feels greater, same with Garen's E, i wish i could say that about every legendary and above

I love the concepts of the God King skins, not because of the philosophical reasons most would say but because they just feel straight out of SMT for me.
Chaos and Law reps that are mirrors of each other are just a blast to see

Garen does not hunt mages, he is not a mageseeker. He is leader of the dauntless vanguard - an elite unit of damacian army that are closest to the king.
That being said he is loyal to the death and if J4 asks him to kill Sylas he does it without blinking an eye. However Garen is one of few people who doubt J4's extermination plan in Mageseeker game is good and tries to convince him otherwise. In the end he helps the king with the peace decree.

I like the foil of God-King Darius who is exactly like God-King Garen without the deluded self-righteousness. God-King Darius *KNOWS* he's an all-powerful tyrant and has no compunctions about it and makes no excuses for it. Instead, he embraces his power fully (while enjoying it immensely) and it's why some of his rival lines against God-King Garen teases the latter by pointing out the hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness. It's like:
"You really think you're better than me? At least I know I'm an asshole. You're just pretending you're not."
you probably are going to say that "tough guy" Garen is its worse skin, but I always had a soft spot for that one, and now I kinda see it has a "what if" where Garen discards his loyalty to the crown of Demacia for his morals of justice and fighting for those who can't.
So basically, what would happen if Garen turned into Kayle.
I do like that this version of Garen still isn't entirely immune from being gaga over Katarina. He can only force himself to feel nothing for her after she falls in battle. With everyone else, yes, this is Garen going down the worst possible path.

What i think would be an awesome skin idea is having sylas with a skin that works for him how god king works for garen.
The absolute representation of anarchy and bloodthirsty rebel leader that will cross any line to uproot the leaders and anyone who has ever aided with them like a fantasy Robespierre.
I think it would work because then riot can give us this twisted ecil version of sylas that they've obviously always wanted to sell him as, but now that version can be different from the sylas we have now

Well Skyen always takes into account the lore and concept of a skin and not just the design alone, when you put all those together, God King is truly the best one of Garen's skins.
Demacia Vice is fun but thats about it.
The Leyndell music in the background only serves to further emphasize his point here.

Like imagine when he did that some of her family, maybe even Garen, were killed in the attack, and Lux sees exactly what her family and Demacia were afraid of when it comes to mages, so in her grief she takes on her brother's role and joins the Mage Seekers, except her's more ruthless, her goal is to hunt down her former friend and kill him
The beautiful monster is what made vampires work and it works here too.

Playing Leyndell Capital music in the background makes this analysis all the better in my opinion because the Golden Order/Erdtree in Elden Ring is essentially the same archetype as Garen: Righteousness justifying tyranny.

It almost makes wonder if there’s a skin that takes the opposite approach, where he sees his service to Demacia for what it is and choosing to rebel against it, trading his loyalty to the crown for loyalty to the people it claims authority over.
