This guy did a really good job. I used to be a builder, I made a hummingbird house out of popsicle sticks once. Hung it in a tree. A hummingbird landed on it and it fell apart. The bird is fine. I don't build anymore.
Thanks guys, this video has been very illustrating.
Glad to see the running bond pattern versus all the seams in a line.
Thanks for watching!
I've used a t-kicker doing drywall in my house. Excellent.
So helpful!
Excellent video, thanks..
Staggered seams - YAY! This looks so much more professional than having all the sheets break at the same points.
It’s a must!
@Marshall Remodel | MR Post Frame
I've never seen a builder skip out out on using A-frames (trusses) until seeing this video. There not enough trusses to support this barn/garage. Wow, just wow. Where's the ceiling insulation?
GREAT LOOK, MUCH MORE PRACTICAL THAN DRYWALL‼️‼️. Vinny 🇺🇸
Yeh I am doing the same drywall would require 2 foot spacing on trusses and/or lots of perlins. No painting or tape is awesome
Yep…thanks for watching.
Less weight as well, and fireproof
Very nice would love to have a garage similar to this
Thanks for watching!
Nice work. Although consider a quicker option. Unscrew the roofing sheets in segments and lay down rolls of Foil Foam. It's fantastic stuff, I've used it in two of my Ozzy sheds so far.
If you were to use paper faced bat insulation, would you still need the plastic vapor barrier?
I love watching your builds. Is that a pig? lol
Good eye…yes it is
Does the metal ceiling should be grounded or is not required?
Great video. This is the exact solution I was looking for my 3 car garage with open ceilings. I found the product you linked to Menards. Thanks. Never worked with this metal material before. What do you recommend to trim/cut the panels? Thank you again.
Thanks for watching. Couple of tools below.
If you're not going to be doing a lot of cutting...the least expensive option and the first purchase would be snips.
www.menards.com/main/tools/hand-tools/shears-snips-bolt-cutters/midwest-snips-reg-9-1-2-offset-aviation-tin-snip-set-2-piece/mwt-6510c/p-1536820119371-c-1550852385007.htm
If doing a lot of cutting I would also recommend purchasing nibblers. I started with the corded Makita nibblers but now use the Milwaukee M12 cordless nibblers.

What length screws did you use
I just used a sheetrock lift to install my metal ceilings up.
That makes it a lot easier.
I'll get in touch this spring to build one for me in DesMoines. Love the videos
Thanks for watching!
Would this be strong enough to hold around r30 insulation without any additional support? Thinking of doing this in my barn but trying to figure out if the weight of the insulation would cause the metal to bow.
What type of trim did use around the perimeter of the ceiling? I'm doing the same to mine...Looks Great!!
Thanks it’s called J-trim.
You mentioned you would be running conduit. Why choose that? I totally get the accessibility factor keeping wiring on the surface. Im curious if youve done metal ceilings then cut out for light fixteres, outlets, etc. Also, you'll be installing garage doors. Would be great to see how you cut the metal for the hangers and then trim it out. One last thing. What about cell phone reception?
Is that a Pot Belly Pig in the background? I still would like to know where you find the brackets that are placed in the concrete for the columns,...Would you like to come to Arizona during you winter and rough out a structure for our retirement home? I think I might have the piers in place with the brackets set,... Love your videos
Great eyes…yes that is a pig.
We get our brackets from Midwest Perma-Column. Sturdi-Wall brackets - www.midwestpermacolumn.com/
Arizona sounds nice during an Iowa winter.
Can the rafters support the extra weight with no bracing ? I got a 30x32 building I am currently working on as well
This is a good question. Rafters are usually rated for roof load, not carry load underneath. But you can have them spec’d for this. So depends on spec.
Why did you not put in double bubble or drip stop below metal roof? Nice color scheme similar to mine for my Barndo project about to start. I am going to use Edco 12" board and batten Glacier White metal siding and black Onyx board and batten wainscott and weather master Black exposed fastener roof with double bubble and SCAMP stainless head fasteners.
They'll be using blown in insulation for the attic space and so it wasn't necessary to do more than the plastic barrier and air sealing.
why didn't you Tyvek / vapor barrier the roof before putting the metal roof on? Looks Great!
It's a vented attic space so no need
What style metal is that, PBR etc ?.
How many feet can you span metal between trusses? I did not see you put any furing strips up. Thanks Jeff
It looks like they were spanning 6ft in this video. I would recommend 4ft if you plan to insulate.
Also looking for what gauge metal that was, getting ready to do the same exact ceiling. Was going back and forth on adding supports between the 7.5 ft bays. Do you have the source for the panels?
Where are you located? Do you have a Menards in your area?
@@MrPostFrame Kansas City area, yes Menards is close

How long did this take to put up?
Can that ceiling steel support blown in insulation?
Yes, blown in insulation was actually added by the client
Is there any concern about condensation under the roof?
No that’s why I put the 6mil vapor barrier up above the ceiling
I may have missed it in the video, but what gauge steel did you install?
I'd say 29g
29 gauge
Did I miss it or will there be insulation on the roof?
It will receive blow-in insulation.
What is your spacing for those trusses?
8’ span…post frame construction
No insulation ?
Are there contractors in Wisconsin you know that does this work?
Can you span 8ft with out sagging? Can insulation be blown in on top of that span? Thanks
Yes. It’s rated to span 8’ with blow in insulation on top.
@@MrPostFrame , I'm doing a 30x40 almost identical to this and the above was my same question. I've been killing myself trying to figure out how to do purlins but I would love to just use the 8' span trusses (mine are 2x6's). Do you know what gauge metal you used to make sure it is the same metal I am using?
I call those Jeffries. My wife and I were doing a ceiling and Jeffrey was supposed to help us, but he was a no-show. So we built a Jeffrey. But it slipped and broke a window. Yep, Jeffrey did it. Whoops!
Ha…Jeffrey was very useful until he broke a window. 😳
Why do a metal ceiling? I noticed at the end of the video there was a lot of sound echo - maybe because of the metal?
Client preference
It's not a "how to do it" but a "watch me do it", with a few hints. Waiting on Josh to show me "how to do it".
.
is there no real need for insulation? thanks i have to do mine and not sure , it is a big expense for that
What due do with moisture thank forms on plastic bad idea 3:28 3:30
