    Why is Islamophobia considered a derogatory term? I see nothing wrong with being prejudice against people based on their beliefs. In fact, one can argue, that is the only grounds which can reasonably used to assess others. The fact that any reasonable person in the 21st century can conclude is religions were far and wide created to explain elements of the natural world to bronze age farmers in a simple, easy to follow manner. They are all stunningly and embarrassingly false in every single description they offer of nature. The Quran or Bible or Torah, is quite clearly NOT the word of any so called God and anyone who openly admits to believing otherwise is under a very strong delusion. In a free and civilized society these delusions should be attacked and degraded with logic and questioning at every possible turn.

    • @Evoletization
      @Evoletization Před 9 lety +9

      +MightyMarven Mostly because phobia suggests an irrational, unjustified fear, whereas those who are accused of Islamophobia are quite rational about the matter and can justify their position by citing facts. It's just a way to disregard the arguments against Islam as if they were inspired by gutteral fear and bigotry.

    • @shadysheister
      @shadysheister Před 8 lety +2

      It's a problem when actual Muslim reformers, such as Maajid Nawaz and Ayan Hirsi Ali, are called Islamophobic when they are trying to have a secular discussion about Islam and why it needs honest liberal critique. The word was conned by Islamists to shut down the criticism of Islam so for that reason alone we shouldn't be using this made up term.

      I challenge you to take the insides out of a clock and put it inside a case and walk into an airport with this case and start showing people your handiwork. I'll bet that you won't do it.
      I'd have to wonder why and I'll bet you could answer why YOU wouldn't do it. You know full well that people might mistake if for a bomb and that you would be subject to serious repercussions at the hands of airport security and the law.
      American schools have been the victims of school shootings and it would be prudent for any student to refrain from bringing anything that looked dangerous to a school. Small children have been expelled for forming a pistol with their fingers and pretending to shoot fellow students.
      Why would a 14 year old do what this kid did? What did he think it was that he had invented. A new clock? Even after he was told to put it away, he insisted on carrying it to other classes, that had nothing to do with his "science" project and continue to show it off.
      I'm not going to say it was a conspiracy but I have to wonder what his motive was. One thing is certain, that project did not deserve a trip to the Whitehouse and it became a media circus only because the media wanted to create that controversy.

    • @JackHaveman52

      Just in case you're wondering, here are some winning high school projects in Canada. Notice the high calibre of science and the depth of the projects.
      cwsf.youthscience.ca/sites/default/files/2017_cwsf_awards_en.pdf
      Oh yeah, that clock boy was one smart kid. If he's the best the US had to offer in their high school science classes, the US is failing it's students, badly.

    • @JackHaveman52
      @JackHaveman52 Před 6 lety +2

      Dobro Doggie
      You honestly believe that if you walked into an airport and displayed a digital clock inside a case like the one this kid had, you wouldn't have airport security all over you. You're just being intentionally obtuse.
      He unscrewed 5 or 6 screws to loosen up the insides of a digital clock and then screwed it back into the insides of enlarged pencil and notebook leather type case. Now that took some read genius. That's not a science project and normally he wouldn't get anymore than a C for his efforts.
      You know as well as anyone and don't pretend that you don't that students have been bringing weapons into American schools and killing kids. There have been talks of pipe bombs in Columbine and he made something that resembled a countdown clock for a bomb. Kids are being expelled for pretending to shoot others with their fingers and this kid makes what could be mistaken for a bomb.
      I don't know why he did it but I don't really know why Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris killed 13 people and wounded 24 more, either. People get nervous when kids start pretending to have guns and if a kid brings a contraption that might be mistaken for a bomb to school, someone will get upset, rightly or wrongly. It happens all over the US and students are dealt with harshly when they do stupid stunts like that. Klebold and Harris were one 1 year older that this kid. One year....so don't pretend that it's impossible.
      I'm not sure what you're rambling on about concerning public and private schools. I showed you this link to show you what kinds of real projects high school kids were doing and they are in a different stratosphere of ability and effort over some kid moving the guts of a clock from one container to another. He was told to put it away and he wouldn't. Why....who knows but he finally got called on it and it was because the teachers felt that it strongly resembled a clock mechanism for a bomb.
      It was the media that made a big deal of it and they're as much to blame for this stupidity, actually a lot more, as this kid is. And Obama actually added to the foolishness by pretending that this was an outstanding science project. It was a joke and the projects that I showed that other high school kids did proves it.

    I don't have a problem with Dawkins. His tweet was too small to fully articulate his thoughts; moreover, there was probably insufficient information to fully understand what happened-at the time it was all going on. Let's hope he doesn't stop tweeting. It would be a huge loss of insight into scientific brilliance!
    About that Muslim boy: that 14 year's teacher has responsibilities and one of those is to protect pupils when they're in school. Calling the cops on a child pupil would've been a frightening experience for not only that child but also his classmates. Most of us never see the police but we know what happens when the police are called to emergencies. They drive as fast as fucking hell, arrive with guns loaded, shout, threaten and sometimes carry out lethal force. That could've happened to a boy who had simply done his homework. It would be the most extreme case of homework marking I've ever heard of. D on a homework shouldn't mean death! I don't know whether there was history of such threats from the boy or whether he even cares about extremist Islam. All I know is Islam is insufficient reason to suspect a person is carrying a bomb, especially a child...unless he's a genius and police had mountains of accurate data on him. Regardless, that kind of extreme schema could've killed an innocent 14 year old. How long did it take for the teacher to recall he had set his pupil homework? How did he even identify the individual who made the clock? I don't know the whole story but I feel as though it's only going to become a huge embarrassment to the teacher.

    Islamaphobia is a non word? A slight browse through social media can be a frightening experience today. I guess antisemitism didn't exist in Europe's media during the first half of the 1900's either. Like a majority of Europeans today Im not religious too but so what. Richard Dawkins is a denier of something very real and truthful about the word Islamaphobia. There is so much poetry philosophy and diversity from the Islamic world that I sometimes feel Dawkins ignores. With all the turmoil across the Arab world and with no clear answer in sight, he plays with an ignorant unwelcoming extreme, a kind of Cultural Cleanser.

    I am prepared to entertain the idea that Dawkins is not such a nice guy in real life. But if this was the case, does it in any way invalidate his scientific work? Of course not. What about his advocacy of atheism? I guess some may say he is an example of atheist having more lax moral values than religious persons but for me, is arguments on religions are based on scientific and logical thinking and not being a nice guy doesn't make his arguments any less valid. Besides, history if full of geniuses in arts and science who were not very nice people. We don't reject their legacies just because they were a bit antisocial.

    Just think of the intelligence that creates and sustains all this that we call existence?
    "Before you judge others or claim any absolute truth, consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this, you are traveling at 220 kilometres per second across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not "you". The atoms in your body are 99.9999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the ones you were born with, but they all originated in the belly of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato. The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you don't just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colours you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum."

    Story of biologist and God. Biologist says we don’t need you God, i can prove how we got here without You.
    God says ok then where did the universe come from and how did you get here. Biologist says in the beginning there was cosmic dust and then.
    God said no, no, no, go get your own cosmic dust.
    Nothing cannot come from nothing.
    God is uncreated; not bound by space matter and time. No passage of time for Allah. Nothing before God.
    Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: In the beginning there was Allah, there was nothing before Him (nothing was with Him).
    Biologist should stick to their field of expertise which is biology (study of life and living organisms) and not cosmology (study of origin, evolution and fate of the universe).

    Notice, the low grade underhand remark he makes to downplay the boy's technical achievement. Sure there probably was very little creativity in what this boy had done, in fact I would say there was absolutely zero creativity, but there is no need to rubbish this young boy's school project on national TV, just seems a bit mean spirited. That is the problem with the new atheists , the likes of Harris and the late Hitchens. They all use their evidently superior intellect to humiliate genuine and some times simple believers. So while he may not be islamophobic as such , and he does seem to hate all religions, he is very mean spirited and shows no generosity in his dialogues with believers, a trait he seems to share with the other new atheists.

It is mentioned in the holy Quran chapter 49 verse 13 " O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.". Almighty God has made us into nations and tribes not to despise each other. We are all brothers and sisters.
    Don't you have any courtesy ! You should talk or write in a way that donot hurt anyone's religious feelings .

      @@RoninTF2011 Brother, the Holy Quran promotes humanity , it teaches us to be humane , to give charity, to help others. It is mentioned in the Holy Quran that
      If anyone kills a person unless in retribution for Murder or for spreading corruption in the land it is as though he kills the all mankind, while if any saves a life it is as if he saves the lives of all mankind [ surah maidah chapter 05 verse 32 ]
      People who misunderstand it and some people deliberately call it evil and these people lie about it. Have you read the Holy Quran ? Don't follow others blindly.
