I am an OR nurse in the NHS in England. I was looking after a patient who was having a procedure done under a local anaesthetic. He had suffered from a bleed on his brain leaving him with a haemorrhagic stroke. The anaesthetist came up to me after and asked “when did I meet god because he gave me such compassion and respect”. I just looked at him and plainly said that I didn’t need any higher being in my life to be a good person. I didn’t need religion to tell me how I should behave towards a fellow human being in need. I didn’t need to pray to be a great nurse. Well this man acted as though I had insulted his Islamic religion and his god. He then thought I was a lost soul despite having “godly” attributes 5 minutes earlier. My daughter is part of the LGBTQ+ community and asked me how she could believe in a god who believed that she was an abomination and deserved to live in hell. She was a smart young 13 year old. I am proud of her everyday that she lives her true life. She’s 17 now. God is a human construct. He is a main character in a story that exists to control the lives of those who do not have the brain power to understand the world around them.

‏Anthony Flew is considered one of the most prominent atheists, so he retracted his atheism and told us that the universe has a deity with modern scientific evidence, not with thought or dreams and feeling, but after science and modern discoveries about the existence of a Creator. He fell into another problem that the Creator wanted according to his mood
‏ He wanted the Creator to be neither speaking nor hearing, and creating creation in vain
‏But it is logical that this Creator sends a messenger to teach us who he is. And we have to verify the authenticity of the Messenger and what this Messenger calls to?
‏ It transports sperm from the liquid state to the eyes, heart, blood, arteries, and bones. Unconscious nature creates a conscious human being. Then this nature teaches about the importance of the heart and lung, then puts the rib cage, then oxygen, then water, there is sexual desire, and there are the genitals to complete the male and female sexual process. , What coincidence are you talking about, a coincidence that creates the male and the female. All of these are called verses and there are things that complement each other, there is a lung and there is air and there are teeth and stomach and in food and other things and we say that it has no creator!!!
‏ The only question God will ask you is
      ‏ focus on it
‏ ((He said: Did you deny My verses and did not encompass them in knowledge, or what did you do?))
‏ I mean, God Almighty tells you what I told you is a lie and you cannot realize it or understand it
‏ And what in the world have you been doing?
‏ Do you know what your answer is?
‏ ((The decree will befall them for what they did wrong, and they will not be able to speak.
‏ If you find yourself in the world without a choice in a great reality we live in, and you go without a choice and a question is the most important
‏ If your destiny is fire, has God wronged you???
‏Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, is a prophet from the Creator, and before him many prophets did not lie or deceive, and he is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator who created everything.
‏First of all, you should know that the religion of all prophets is the worship of one Creator who created everything. Islam today is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator and not idols, illusions, conjecture or a number of gods. But how do we know that the speech is from God and not from Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace? . These are some of the things that comfort your heart and believe that this is a prophet and many of the prophets before him
‏ The Almighty said: (Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke)
‏ The smoke confirms that the origin of this universe is inflamed. It is not a lake of water, as was the perception of all philosophies and religions that are based on illusion. This is one of the postulates of modern science today that the sky is condensation of smoke. This fact converted the French scientist Maurice to Islam and wrote a book entitled the Holy Qur’an on the scale of modern science
‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before?
‏ The Almighty says: ((And the heaven We constructed))
‏ The sky is a building, not a vacuum as it was thought, and this was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017 that proved it
‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before?
‏The Almighty’s saying: ((And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.
      )).
‏ That is, the sky expands with time. This fact, even in the time of Einstein, was not imagined by anyone and it was proven. And Einstein admitted it and admitted that it was the biggest scientific mistake he made in his life if he believed that the sky was fixed. The Qur’an before Einstein says that the sky expands
      ‏fact
‏ Almighty’s saying: :((And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.
      ))
‏ The verse of the night is the moon and the verse of the day is the sun. The Qur'an tells that the sun and the moon were fiery masses. That is, the moon was a fiery mass and was erased, and the verse of the day remained visible to the eyes. Was the moon a fiery mass and extinguished? This is one of the biggest scientific issues discovered about the moon. The moon was already a fiery mass, and NASA issued on its official website a conceptual clip entitled The Evolution of the Moon in the video. In fact, the moon was a fiery mass like the sun, and this is what the Qur’an told about and the truth of modern science.
‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before?
      ‏Almighty’s saying
‏And you see the mountains thinking that they are rigid, while you will cross as the passage of clouds. [It is] the work of God who has perfected everything. In fact, he knows what you're doing.))
‏ And the verse clearly spoke of a strange phenomenon, which is that the viewer of the mountains appears to him still, that is, they are still, but in fact they are not like that, rather they are in a state of constant movement. And the infidels of Quraish had previously accused our master Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, of madness, and it is likely that their joy was overwhelming when this verse was revealed.
‏ They also found in it, according to their claim, evidence of this madness, and they told the people: How can you believe this man who says that these fixed mountains move like clouds moving in the sky!
‏ And today it is proven that the earth rotates, and with it the mountains, how did Muhammad know that and why is he telling you instead of the matter that makes people consider him crazy? The matter was not from him, but from God.
      Almighty’s saying
‏Those whom Allah (in His plan) willeth to guide,- He openeth their breast to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying,- He maketh their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe)).
‏After man was able to reach the sky by flying by modern means of transportation, he knew that the higher up in the air, the less oxygen and atmospheric pressure, which causes severe tightness in the chests and the process of breathing. :
‏How did Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, know this fact before? It was not from him, but from God
      Almighty’s saying
‏Or (the Unbelievers' state) is like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with billow topped by billow, topped by (dark) clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hands, he can hardly see it! for any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light!
‏Modern sciences have revealed that in the bottom of the deep seas with abundant water - the deep sea - there is great darkness, to the extent that living creatures live in this darkness without visual tools, but live using their other senses such as hearing.
‏These dark darknesses are not found in the sea water that surrounds the Arabian Peninsula, but rather they have been discovered in the oceans far from it
‏This verse shows another aspect of the Qur’anic miracle, which is that the sea wave that all people only knew was one wave in the seas.
‏The verse says there is another wave in the depths of the sea, and divers discovered at the beginning of the twentieth century a fact that was hidden in the depths of the sea, that fact that shows another wave that throws divers into it as it is thrown at swimmers, and this wave was discovered by Scandinavian divers.
I will tell you what the Prophet said. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: One day the Bedouins who live in the desert will build tall towers, and this is my duty. Go and see where the
tallest buildings are and who owns them.
‏God Almighty: ((We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?)
And God informed the Qur’an of this by saying: “Did you think that we created you without a purpose and that you would never return to us?”
‏All these and other matters that I have not mentioned indicate that this is a prophet from God. More important than that, as I told you, is the only religion that commands you to worship one Creator, who created everything and before him many prophets.
‏Say, if you wish, there is no god but God, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God
      ‏ speak from the heart

      Here is some honest science!
      Cabrera Museum
Dr. Dennis Swift was shown around the museum by Dr Javier Cabrera and he was surprised at what some of the stones depicted. He saw protopeople riding pteranodons. Dr. Cabrera held up a stone of copter [pteranodons with the drawing of a man riding upon it. Some of these pteranodons were stupendously large. Quetzalcoatlus, the largest flying creature known to existed had a gigantic wingspan of fifty-one feet or more, larger than that of many jetfighter airplanes today. Another specimen had a skull and crest that measured five feet nine inches in length. The stones also indicated that the Pre Columbian Indians also had dinosaur ranches. So Marco Polo in China was right when it came to dinosaurs being trained at a young age to pull the Emperor’s chariots. It stands to reason that some of them would have been burden bearers. In history, very often the majority opinion is wrong.
As the tour of the museum was coming to a close, Dr. Cabrera opened up a photo album and he proceeded to show Dr. Dennis Swift photos of dignitaries to whom he had given stones. There was a photo of Dr. Cabrera with the Queen of Spain with an engraved stone so big it had to be hoisted with crane. He gave another to the Queen of Sweden and they stood together with a massive stone. Still a third photo was of him with Shirley MacLaine. Dr. Dennis Swift repeatedly offered Dr. Cabrera money for one of these unique priceless stones, but he insisted that he would not sell them. Dr. Cabrera also gave one to Dr. Dennis Swift’s wife affectionately known as the Queen of Beaverton, with a T.Rex and triceratops engraved on it. It stands to reason that none of these ICA Stones were cheap forgeries made by peasants. Dignitaries only want that which is genuine and they possess the means to verify their authenticity. Forget about your Radio Metric Dating for dinosaurs and rocks, they are not millions of years old. The evidence is absolutely clear they were contemporary with humans not so long ago.

Richard goes a long way out of his way to shine a bright light in a world terribly darkened for many centuries by purveyers of grim & dangerous superstitious, divisive, maniacal nonsense.
He really is an absolute joy. His humour is in stark contrast to the lack thereof in those who would attack him or silence him through hatred of those who are not infected with the lunacy of their particular delusion.
Both Richard & Hitch have displayed to all that will listen that you don't have to believe in a fantasy or some supreme being or orders from above to behave morally or decently. And, you don't need to desire eternal life, or be incentified by such an empty promise to practice good conduct.
What a tragedy that so many supposedly inteligent creatures have their fingers perpetually planted in their ears.

Jesus is kind enough to allow people to reject Him if they want. If people don't want to adhere to the 1rst Commandment (You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength) Jesus allows free will. He is so accommodating and thoughtful of people's preferences, that He has a very special place for people who won't acknowledge and seek Him. A place where they don't have to see Him or think about Him or deal with Him at all. Pretty generous, wouldn't you say?

    • @Hammern28
      @Hammern28 Před 4 lety +15

@@susiearviso3032 Wow, what a way to put it. I don't reject him, I simply don't think believe that he exists as the Bible puts it. I believe that Jesus did exist, as a regular man who walked around, and did good for others. You know how a story becomes, once it has been told enough times? It never comes out the same way as it started. Someone helps someone cross the street, and the story is told... after a thousand times, that story could easily end up flying across the street, over a mountain, through the sky, waving to God... and so on.
Bible to me, is a fairy tale, probably the most amazing book ever written. Written in times when logical explanations, are viewed more as unexplainable, told so many times before it is eventually written down.
But let us say that God exists. I believe that there is something out there, but that it is something that cannot be explained in human terms. No matter how one spins it, the Bible is still written by human hands, and we all know how the human mind can be made to believe the written word. My belief is, if there is a God, it is the universe itself. Kinda like... if you take a jar, fill it with salt water and some plant stuff, after a certain period of time, you will see things taking place. Life is formed. I view the universe pretty much the same way. Eventually, spores of life, is formed and stuff evolves. And here we are.
Now, I don't mind people believing in the holy scripture, in fact, I think there are many well written bits in it, and if people wish to believe it, that is great. If people find more purpose due to it, hurray I say. To me, the bits in that text, do good by others and so on, is just common sense. I don't need to read and believe in a book, in order to live a full and dignified life. And only way to really know what comes after life, is to experience it. So, if I am wrong when getting to that stage, arrite, I will admit I was wrong. I do not deny that God and Jesus and all that, does not exist, but there is really nothing to prove the opposite. I could just as easily believe we exist in a Matrix ( The Matrix, movie ), where miracles are glitches in the system. You say, pretty generous, wouldn't you say? I don't think so, cause I do not believe that it would be up to Jesus nor God, to give us free will.
So, how can someone who do not believe in God, have purpose in life? Life is purpose in itself. Experience everything around you. Air, nature, animals, fellow human being, just suck it in and let it enrich your life while one still can. No need for a book to tell you how to enjoy and live life. This is me, and you can choose to debate this back and forth, if that is what you want, but I have all in all, very little interest in it. I have no desire to debate my point of view, convince you otherwise. Believe in what you, yourself, wish to believe in.
I have a couple of friends, whom are devoted Christians, and they are awesome people. We have different points of view, but see no need to debate them. We rather find common grounds, and just enjoy life as it is between us.
That should be more than enough.
So, write responses with points of view and so on, if you want, but I doubt I will add anything more to what I have written already.
So, I wish you the best, live life to the fullest as you see fit, and may your life be an extraordinary experience.
And... remember to wash your hands and all that during these times, scary times you know. ;)

If the #1 says, cut off everything above 4k, that is what you will do. After that, you can start searching for better sound. Lavaliers are a pain, especially if they are not handled by professionals. Something the tech can't often do himself.
It is something that the event producer needs to know to put resources in to, like 30 minute of said techs time spent with the stage manager. Which is where this whole thing actually points to, organizers: thinking that you got 30 000 budget and hiring a professional for a day is too much, someone who makes sure the #1 purpose of the whole thing works..

And everything We have set out in detail.
      ))

And everything We have set out in detail.
      ))

      @GuerillaBunny Před 8 lety +5

+C Chadwick Just understand that the primary purpose of our brain is to interpret the world around us, to formulate hypotheses, and make sense of all of it, to make it predictable so that we can avoid harm coming unto us. As we keep surviving, we reinforce that which we believe, because it's keeping us safe, right? Changing it could be tremendously dangerous, and feels subconsciously pointless because, even at best, we'd achieve the same result. Or so we think.
So the bottom line is that to our brain any belief that doesn't kill us is okay. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. Also, if a belief makes us happy, even better. Usefulness trumps truthfulness when it comes to the brain, unfortunately. And old information trumps new one, even if the new one could be more useful.
Someone said: "Critical thinking is a new phenomenon, and we're not very good at it yet." I think that's true. We are very good at coming up with new reliability information. We are learning how to question the reliability of old misinformation. But we have not yet begun to truly question the reliability of ourselves.

    • @chris060372
      @chris060372 Před 8 lety +1

+GuerillaBunny Not sure why you aimed that reply at me. You obviously just want to get yourself heard as you've come to the conclusion that you have a solid hypothesis.
But this isn't binary. It's not just right or wrong. We take into consideration many different factors. This isn't the 'lion in the long grass or just the wind'. We know there could be a lion in the long grass so we go into he wild in an all-terrain vehicle. We keep our windows raised. We ensure the doors are locked. Yes, we know we're alive because we haven't been killed yet, but we are also wary of doing things that may get us killed.
Just because we're here, and we've survived doesn't necessarily mean we think we're doing it right. That takes the intention of others out of the equation as well as blind good luck and coincidence. Many things happen which are out of our control and we accept them and because we can think critically we realise that we may have just had good fortune not that 'I'm doing it right'. If we thought we are right because we are surviving there would be no need for further education. 'I've got this far on what I already know. Why put myself through something I don't need?'
When a person reaches 100 years of age you get all these people asking them what is the secret to living a long life. And you get some bollocks back about loving your children. Going for a walk every day. Having a glass of wine with every meal. Never taking anything anally... but what is hardly ever mentioned is the amount of times they could've been killed by a drunk driver, that they never contracted cholera, and that they were born into a culture where they had plenty of food. And they had the right DNA. Most of what keeps us alive is just good fortune.
'Usefulness trumps truthfulness'? Look, I can see what you're doing, but my original comment was an observation and a time link, not an admission of ignorance. It sounds like what you're trying to do is have your incredible intellect recognised.
      Thank you for your time.

@@2fast2block You have posted a pulpit speech about "real science" where you abbreviate laws of thermodynamics as 1LT and 2LT, and treat them as evident without proof or argument. The LOTs are mathematical rules whose origin was effort by physicists such as Rudolf Clausius and Max Born to improve efficiency of steam engines. The rules apply to measurable and calculable parameters in energetically isolated physical systems. Scientific application of the LOTs has given deep understanding of what is or is not possible in a wide range of thermodynamic processes; an example is that science declares that a perpetual motion machine would be an impossible violation of LOTs. It strikes me as lamentable and intellectually degrading that you purport to co-opt the LOTs in your dogmatic claim about a "supernatural creator". This imaginary entity is by definition a violator of the LOTs since you cannot say what it did, let alone measure, at some vague "certain point in time" to create matter, space and even time itself. Apart from an ad hominem insult about fools and fiction, your post brings to this thread nothing of science and instead spreads a dishonest veneer of pseudo-science, which is no thing of real science. Indeed nothing comes from nothing and, like a peddler of a perpetual motion machine, you have nothing of evidence for your Creationist claim.

Say you have a box with all the components for a sentient robot, but it's completely disassembled & has never booted up or experienced the world. The box of components can't be aware of anything, doesn't know it exists, can't have loved anyone. It's wasteful to throw those components in the recycle bin, but it's not on par with destroying a sentient being.
In a democracy, no one can be forced to lend a part of their body to save the life of another. You can't be forced to donate a kidney or give blood. We can't be forced to lend our uterus to a fetus. This is law.
You have a right to remove a forming baby from your body if you do not want to carry one. That is the end of the story. Pregnancy can happen even when all precautions are taken. That still does not negate your responsibility to do what is right for your body nor does it forfeit your right to control what is allowed in your body and for how long.
Bodily integrity applies to people who are not living off of the body of others.. consider a person who will die without a kidney transplant. Is the person who wont give them one a murderer? No they aren't. No one would consider them to be one. Everyone would understand that it is a tough decision, could lead to serious medical problems, is painful, invasive and could lead to financial ruin. So there are no laws on the books that mandate a viable donor make that sacrifice. Do you want to mandate this for everyone? If you mandate one, then you must mandate the other. If you make one life that needs someone else's body to live - have more rights than the person who would be the donating body... then you open that up to everyone who needs someone else's body to live.
Let's make a law that says you have to be physically joined to some random person who is waiting for a kidney transplant otherwise you'd be guilty of murder. Furthermore you must do so with the caveat that you will be responsible for the transplant operation and all their medical expenses for 18 years afterward. If the person is not willing to do that, then they should STFU.

@@louisehaley5105 Let us not forget, that although many of us revere Hitch, he did change his mind on many issues during his lifetime. But, in the one or two CZcams videos that I remember seeing him talk about this issue, I recall him refusing to take either of the moral absolute positions, and expressing a nuanced rational view, which is not inconsistent with this formulation:
      * 1st trimester - Absolute woman's choice, with all medical support for that choice.
      * 3rd trimester - A bias (medical default position) to save the baby,
even at a slight risk to the mother, e.g. GA for Caesarian,
even if the baby is unwanted, and will be given-up for adoption.
      * 2nd trimester - A gray area, dependent on technology to save the baby,
which has changed in recent decades, and will continue to improve.
In practice, the survival statistics show a very sharp division, so it is not a dilemma of degrees, and medical practice (in the West), provides quite a specific date for achieving a high survival rate (in healthy fetuses of a certain weight).
I think this rational position is roughly aligned with other rationalist non(anti)-religious commentators, such as Sam Harris and Dave Rubin _(Don't Burn This Book)_
On a personal note, I was adopted into a loving family, but I admit that in certain parts of the world, where there is no adoption, and orphanages are non-existent, or perhaps full, impoverished and exploitative, that abortion might be a kinder alternative (e.g. see _Slumdog Millionaire_ ).

That single red-nail seems silly at first, but it's a way for Penn to remember his mother, who has passed away. Query Google for the back-story, it's quite interesting.

How did I know that if Richard Dawkins and Penn Jillette being put together for a conversation. that it would be such a wonderful conversation. and that there would be such a great sense of humor involved. I guess I should have Richard Dawkins being. who was the most intelligent person he had a conversation with. but the fact is Richard Dawkins excused himself from those conversations. when he is the most intelligent person involved in those conversations no doubt. I really enjoyed this conversation with Penn and Richard. something that I noticed myself thinking as I was watching this conversation. was I was thinking go Richard go because he was so on point with everything he said. and was also impressed by Penn in what he said. also when he said Hendrix as a person involved with music.

I've had the question put to me: "Well what would you replace the morality or values religion teaches with?" I'm so happy to reply that I think schools should include teaching on logic and logical fallacies; law and the underlying concept of law; and the value critical thinking and skepticism. People who are so gullible as to take sheer impossibilities as fact, simply because an old compendium of assembled tales from the desert countries says they happened, are in desperate need of some of that sort of instruction.

Just think if we all respected, valued and loved our fellow man as we're told to do, how much more beautiful, safe and joyful this world would be? As for Christianity, I spent more than a year in Xavier Home for crippled children in the 50s. The selfless and dedicated nuns who cared for me 24/7 were as close to God's angels as one could ever hope to be. But keep on deluding yourself that your gratuitous egocentric life is "doomed" devoid of meaning, hope or destiny, sadly!

What makes you think that an atheist's life is _egocentric, doomed, devoid of meaning, hope or destiny?_ Do you think that any religion, or even just one, is necessary for someone to be kind, caring, hopeful and altruistic?

So how does strawmaning religion support the need to lead a self centered hedonistic, godless lifestyle?

I feel said for atheists like Dawkins or Sam Harris who can't see the logical absurdity of a worldview in which *mindless mater is the only game in town.* e. g. Determinism Vs Freewill
Or some might call it mind VS brain chemistry. . Typical YT strategies occur all the time, to ignore, delete, mock, or shout down any opposing view.
Marxist socialists typify the vocal left wing loonies who are anti-everything that defines Western culture,: law and order, democracy, reward for effort, religion, justice, free speech, morality etc
Alas, here was I thinking *free speech is the free exchange of ideas.* without threats or intimidation.
I've always regarded Sam Harris as an intelligent guy but u can see how *Atheism poisons everything.* As a true naturalist Sam has to believe he's merely pond goo evolved to a higher order. It "logically" follows that there is no freewill, we're just the product of our brain chemistry. This is a philosophy called "determinism", the logical consequences of such is a self-contradictory, soul-destroying worldview.
