#SonicYouth #100 #Remastered - Hudba
For those of you who missed the 90's, that was basically it in 2 minutes.
Yes, everyone parted their hair in the middle
Long hair , good music , skating , and partying 24 7
There Ain't No Damn Coolio
I drank, smoked, had hair like that and wore flannel in those days. I even saw Sonic Youth live but didn't skate that much.
To Slystonetuna: "We ain't got no ride, fool."
Always love the way they fuck with the timing in their songs. That steady, then slow then stall, then flies away again.
Kim Gordon is and always will be the coolest lady ever !!!!!
That is correct......
nop
@@collection6062 Back in your box, Obvious Troll!
courtney love and Joan jett are also up there though
@@user-yh6nh9vy1w and Kim Shattuck!
This was the 1st Sonic youth track I ever heard back in the early 90s. I still enjoy it.
I just put this playlist on for indie 1992, trying to expose my newborn son to all the shit that was playing when I was about his age. This is my first time hearing it myself. This will be one of those gems that stay in cycle.❤
So much to like in this video. Jason Lee skateboarding? Yes. Spike Jones directing? Yes. Sonic Youth? Of course. Such a wonderful groove going on in this song. Kim Gordon's bass sounds so good with the drums. Probably my favorite Sonic Youth song of all time.
It’s actually directed by Tamara Davis. Spike just shot the skate footage.
according to legend the bass shes playing is actually Keanu Reeves' which he lent to her for this video shoot! Which just adds to the coolness of this video man, the energy is unparallelled
Please, who is Jason Lee? The skateboarder in black? Ty
don't look up Blind Video Days then ... your brain might explode seeing Earl 360 flip
I haven't heard this song for about 20 years. Awesome song!! The 90's was cool af.
This was cool??? Yikessss y’all probably got cuckold huh lmaoooo 😂
I still remember back in early 90's, seeing this video on "120 minutes" as a 12/13 year old skater and thinking...... "this is the coolest fucking video ever....."
Im an 18 years old skater that just saw this video for the first time and im thinking the fucking same
There was this and what, an ST video or two that got air play and had skaters in them?
And Urban Dance Squad "Deeper Shade of Soul".
Manuel Gabellieri 18 now LOL. YOU MISSED THE BEST ERA!
@@manuelgabellieri7364 I’m 18 and I don’t even skate but this still the coolest fucking video
that song makes me wanna put a plaid shirt on and looked bored sitting on a sofa. ah the 90s. I miss 'em.
Doc brown save us all
This is really f***ing funny. The accuracy😂
That's nice
We were bored, but little did we know we were having the times of our lives. Young people are stupid.
90s is one of the best era.. btw I also love this indie-pop band called Indigo De Souza💖💖💖
czcams.com/video/bKvV-fdOVYo/video.html
I was a DJ at a club in Minneapolis in the 90's and we didn't have a dance floor so they let me play whatever I wanted. Almost every time I played this song - and I played it LOUD - people would come up to the booth, demanding to know what song/band this was. I miss those days, but it's so fun to hear this still.
Probably my fav sonic youth song. The entire thing feels like it could fall apart at any second, fucking beautiful.
I love it when Alternative Bands Throw in really Heavy Guitar Riffs!

cheers, mate!
Tremendous
At the time I never would have guessed this video would end up being such a great time capsule.
Yeah. Skateboard kids, alternative teenagers, grunge shirts and generally Generation X all captured in one short video.
Few folks had tats back then.
@@michelleholody5836 - bikers, gangbangers, streetpunx mainly back then.
Long hair was still cool. Hippies and punks hung out together. Cats loved dogs.
All white
i miss when it was socially acceptable to look like you smelled
That's the good one
LMAO, awesome
Love this comment 😂😂😂😂im a 90s kid 🤘🏻🖤😜
Bullshit. It was never "acceptable". There is a reason they call this "alternative" or "indie" rock. Conservatives have always had contempt for anything outside the status quo.
TheRickymaster Films lucky for you it’s back in style again
I was so into Sonic Youth a 100% in 1992 and still am!
I 100% love the groove+dissonance in this song!
this song was the reason why i started skateboarding, and listening to alternative music.
it's happening to me too
This song was the reason I started watching my name is earl.
Noah Jaybird15 this song is the reason i killed myself in 1987
This song is the reason women evolved legs as a means to attract males.
jonas brave or maybe to fucking walk around?
Ahhh the 90's.............What a time too be alive..
I can't describe how influential this band was (is) to me. I wanted to live this video in high school.
This instantly takes me back to my sophomore year of h.s.-94. I loved Sonic youth. Kept this album on repeat.
...same...and we are both Yogis now!
still one of the coolest fucking videos ever
+Paul Le Comte not really
Ovo je jedna od najboljih pesama danasnjice. Greetings from Belgrade, Serbia! :)
Joe Cole is remembered in the Sonic Youth songs "JC" and "100%" on their album Dirty.
Cole and lifelong best friend Henry Rollins were assaulted by armed robbers in December 1991 outside their shared Venice Beach, California, home at 809 Brooks Avenue in the Oakwood district. They had attended a Hole concert at the Whisky a Go Go and were returning home after having stopped at an all-night grocery store. Two armed men, described as black and in their 20s, approached them demanding money. Angry that Rollins and Cole had only $50 between them, the gunmen ordered the two men to go inside their house for more cash. Rollins entered at gunpoint. However, Cole was killed outside after being shot in the face at close range while Rollins escaped out the back door and alerted the police. The murder remains unsolved.
I feel bad for anyone who wasnt a teen in the 90s! No cell phones. No internet. Dirt weed and fantastic music!!!! I miss it! 😢
I was a teen in the 8o's ... A ten year party !
lol Sonic Youth weren't even teens
This was my very first CD!
What is it with the 90s and hot bass players?
Noah Jaybird15 sonic youth, smashingpumpkins, pixies lol your right
No. I'm 52 and I still listen to this and My Bloody Valentine
Let's not forget Melissa Auf Der Maur in Hole.
Sean Yseult - White zombie
Rayna Foss - Coal Chamber
gail greenwood...belly
Sonic Youth + Spike Jonze + Jason Lee = 100%
and RIP Joe Cole!
don't forget Guy
+ Andy Warhoul for cover
It was Poland, early 90's..... my classmate's father brought him a skateboard, few loose rags, Koss PortaPro and few SY and Pixies CDs from the US. That was a whirlwind in my head (I was 17....). Oh My, how I drowned into this....
My highschool geography teacher who wears a beret and plays in a reggae band hooked me onto Sonic Youth and am still here listening in university
Tell me . What sonic youth best song
@@PanduJump Personally, I really like the feel of 'Incinerate', 'Touch Me I'm Sick', 'Schizophrenia' and 'Cinderella's Big Score'.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in the 90's...this was exactly what it was like... 100%
+Joshua Puckett Art - total same.
+Joshua Puckett Art pretty lame when the masses got a hold of punk 'n' alternative. then rocco....frankly he ruined skateboarding
Zatarain Man my childhood house was located actually INSIDE a hobo's butthole...
beat THAT!
+Zatarain Man soooo clever
+Joshua Puckett Art even more clever
GOD DAMN DO I MISS THE 90'S!!!!!!
I will never forget Henry Rollins guest hosting 120 Minutes and introducing this song! He basically said I don't know how skateboarding and this video have to do with a song they wrote about the death of my best friend.
That was the good old days, no smart phone, no social media, just a cool party.
and I greatly miss it.
this is my favorite band of all time.
same
Jason, spike, and sonic youth this truly cannot get any better
Guy Mariano as well
More sublime Bass and Feedback, Long Live The Sonic.
This is the most 90’s thing that ever 90’s. Love it.
This song and all the album "Dirty" is the best noise rock I ever heard!!!
The nine club with spike brought me here for a trip down memory lane.
Great song & great skatin by Jason 🎶🤘🎶
I can still remember the first time I watched this video late one night on Rage(Australia's commercial free version of MTV in the 80's & 90's). Became an instant fan.
Geeking out right now because I just met Jason Lee at the Steel City Comic Con in Pittsburgh, and I told him this is my favorite performance of his lol. He honestly had the same exact smile and hat as he did in this video.
This video is seriously like a portal to the early 90s n it couldn’t rock any harder. Everyone looks amazing, and I’d do anything to be at this party in a parallel universe lol.
That yellow bass belongs to Keanu Reeves.
how's that?
+Macarena Ramírez he lent it to Kim for the video
+Macarena Ramírez idts I'm guessing they were friends, she saw it and asked if she could use it
I could fill in while you wait.
Great,i am more into blue or purple basses
Interesting bit from Kim's NPR interview (and book):
MTV banned Sonic Youth's video for the song "100%" because of what was written on Kim's shirt. "It's a bootleg Rolling Stones shirt - the big mouth - and it said 'Eat me' on it. At the time, I just took it, like, 'Well, that's confusing, because they've obviously got, like, mostly naked women in their videos.' "
really? I saw this video hundreds of times in mtv
Caranthir Oronar i have a vhs where this video is on 120 mins I might upload it to CZcams
Kim is way hotter than pop stars singing songs about ass and booty.
@@j.r.1903: they had to change the phrasing form "eat me" to "eat em" to get aired... just erasing the last e.
@@romelmunoz7957 Just like with Bull in The Heather, to appear on Letterman Sonic Youth had to change their lyric from "whore me" to "bore me"
I was about 16/17 when this song came out and aside from the lack of any obvious drug taking, this pretty much nails the earlier part of the 90s from what I experienced at least. Even in rainy ass Manchester, it was pretty much just like this.
ever ever ever... those great times!! - I won't never forget you, Sonic Youth
Anyone else spot Jason Lee?Before he was an"actor".
He brought the 360 Flip to street skating
Iconoclastic Spastic yes sure did! He started a skateboard company & clothing line back in the 90s i think. Like the comment below, he started the 360 flip. I'm just learning this about Jason. I looked up his imdb page & had no idea he was an avid skater. Pretty cool dude; very talented.
Anthony Barat But,what did he bring to this vid?:)
zero nothings
Tracy Lee Staton He was one of the best skaters of his time, cant think of the name of the vid but he was in one of the groundbreaking best skateboard vids ever, history , cant think what its called there in a big oldschool american car like a chevy or a lincoln...find it n watch it its dope
GEN X, WHAT A RIDE! WHO REMEMBERS GOING TO THE CONCERTS AND ROCKIN TO THIS IN THE BAR. WHEN THE SONG WAS ACTUALLY RELEASED! MOSHING, WE PERFECTED IT!
Thanks for taking me back!
i really believe the 90s was peak human existence
I won't argue with that.
Remembering my sonic youth! 🎸🎶👏👊
Brings me back. 37 and still skating.
Probably the best and most authentic song ever. I love it the first time I heard it, and I still love it. I had to order the CD as an import with 16 years. I had to wait 1 week until it finally arrived in my music store. I listened it 24/7. so awesome. Sonic Youth...THANK YOU FOR EXISTING!!!! you are totally my heroes. Shame I never could see you in Austria.
Blasting this on the walkman cassette back in the day.......ahhhh good times!
cannot wait to see you guys live! I mean, I've been waiting for this for ten years! you people have no idea of how much I'm gonna cry at sy's concert! the band means so much to me!
Beautiful❤
Don't cringe it up, come on.
one of the best tunes of the 90's from one of the greatest albums of all times. i still dig it in 2013. fanatstic stuff.
Hi! From the 2023
Can't get enough of this 90s music
this was the first Sonic Youth song I ever lislistened to, and I was hooked from that moment onward
got those same fukin curtains
yea pull yourself together man youre quite unhinged
ya what the actual heck man chill out
Crap.
Now I have to watch it again. 😒
That’s spooky man
good for them
Sonic Youth - 100 % / Lyric.
I can never forget you the way you rock the girls
They rule the world and love you, a blast in the underworld
I stick a knife in my head thinking 'bout your eyes
But now that you been shot dead, I got a new surprise
But I've been waitin' for you just to say, the Zoftig chick is mine
But all I know is you got no money, but that's got nothing to do with a good time
But can you forgive the boy who shot you in the head
Or should you get a gun and go and get revenge
A 100% of my love up to you true star
It's hard to believe you took off, I always thought you'd go far
I've been around the world a million times and all you men are slime
A gun to my head, goodbye, I am dead
Wastewood rockers, it's time for crime, hey
Great lines alright.
Spike Jones first music video. I was a skater in my youth when this came out, was so excited. Felt like a video of my summer days with the crew.
My english teacher saw me listening to music the whole class and he recommended me this band
Early 90s was a magical time. Just something in the air that's missing today.
Well said!
Perhaps people were less overcrowded back then?
shawnrazzore7522: Well stated. The last great decade.
This is what you kids listen to? Electric guitars and things like this? You crazy kids!
???
Harry Dark Just kidding around, Harry.
+Buzza Wuzza a little bit of humour right?
Virus Inferno Ha! Yes, Virus Inferno, Just being goofy.
saddly, kids of today listen to electro music like dubstep and house,it would be cool that kids or adolescents like me,listen to this kind of music...
Really miss these days. So many great stories!
Song is about the murder of Joe Cole, a friend of the band. He was living with Henry Rollins at the time and was shot point blank in the head during a robbery, Rollins escaped through a window or something. He's talked about it in interviews before
the first song i was in love by sonic youth. they are a part of my adolescent-life. i watched a Thurston gig last year and it's really good :)
same, it's my first SY song too ^^
I haven't heard this song in decades, great memories.i wish I were young and on my state board again.
Insane camera work for the skating on the vid, adds to the song perfectly
I shared this song from Sonic Youth to broadcast it on Radio Saint Affrique FM. Thanx a lot, long living to rock 'n roll, you're the welcomes. Antoine
I was in Germany watching TV at my mum's best friend parents, her 11 years old nephew and I were like : wow that's so fucking rad!!! I got the CD, never heard anything like that, stopped listening to lots of the shit I was listening at that time and got into Pavement, Sebadoh, Pixies and Joy Division, thank you Sonic Youth and thank you Mtv !
Dead Frozen Boyfriend I've been listening to those same bands except Sebadoh, Gonna get on that right now, thanks!
Tormentality I recommend 3 albums of Sebadoh : III, Bubble and Scrape, Bakesale .... you're welcome, enjoy!
Look into dynosoar Jr as well
Dead Frozen Boyfriend Nobody goes to MTV to hear new music anymore. Nobody.
Try radiohead next.
This video brings me back to great days, may there be more great days ahead 😆
Yes when this bloody pandemic is sorted!
カッコいい
Great song, great band. Miss them.
Soundtrack to my 90s, right here...
Lee Ranaldo was so innovative, a truly underrated guitar hero.
Yup. Sums it up. The 90s. God I miss those days.
"I wAs b0rN iN tHE wROng gEneRatiOn"
Yeah same
And I survived into the wrong era. I feel ya.
Yeah, pretty shit nowadays.
Yuh
can you stop
The bass tone at the end 👌
We cast Spike Jonze as an actor in this video and I asked him to film some of the skateboarding. I couldn’t direct my husbands bands videos so I asked Spike to co direct with me for a beastie boys video. He did not direct 100%. That was me, Tamra Davis. Important to give girls credit :)
Listening to this in 2021. Wishing music was like this, but no. Nothing will ever beat music like this.
Oh my gawd!!! I totally forgot about this song for 20 years...
The best decade to be yourself and be free (more than the 60's)
I guess the reason such music was even conceived and saw the light of day was because in those days they didn’t have Facebook wars to waste there time.... Hollywood of that era was not even an inch close to the level of freedom and exploration that the music industry in the 90s allowed the musician to take ...what a time...so glad I was born then and witnessed it all happening right in front of me...
u should look up this indie hidden gem - TIME BY THE IMPURES... ......
I remember listening to this album dirty in my moms car when I bought it from the record shop and she hated it but that made it all the better to love lol
Love SY sm✨
The memories ❤️

Saudade dos anos 90, da Mtv...
101% Thank you. Rock on! Sonic Youth!
Jason Lee pulling off those 180s like it’s going outta style!
Why does this sound even more awesome now than back then?
cos today's music sucks.
And because of nostalgia.
Just electric and genial...thanx a lot...💯

Kim Gordon was almost 40 when they made this vid.
Stan TheObserver Almost 40 myself and still rocking. 🤘🏻
@@jessicamoore1314 To think she's now 66 and still putting out new records. She still looks good too.

The whole band was nearing 40 at this time. They were playing since the early 80s so it's not like they were a new band by this time.
Pretty sure shes about to hit 40 any day now
Best noise riff ever on that guitar in the verse. Still love this track, years later.
Banger!!!!! ❤
The sonic youth wil never die!
Fantastic band, good song.
oh god i'm reliving my youth through this video. i'm so damn old!
I listened to a lot of Sonic Youth in the 90s and 100% is still prob my favorite
Absolutely one of the most under rated bands in history, imho
Love to love this clip !
