- I was ride this journey shortly after the end of lockdown, so here was no option to buy any refreshments and also the train was pretty empty. It was my ride on train SuperCity / InterCity Pendolino train. Pendolino is a high-speed train, built by Alstom Ferroviaria.

How beautiful is the Prague station! (I really like the Czech Republic hahaha, I don't know if I will ever go, but there is no lack of desire!). As anecdotal data, here in Chile, the colloquial or informal way of saying beer is "pilsen", precisely because of the beers there. The views of Prague, the river, the train itself, everything is beautiful. Thank you very much for sharing it. Many greetings Pete!
Thanks for watching again! Yes, especially the historic building of the Prague Main Station is beautiful. Now the reconstruction is going on here and I'm really looking forward to it all finished. Haha, in many countries the word Pilsen is used for beer .. and now you see where it comes from, from the city named Pilsen :-D Thanks and greetings to Chile! Btw. great video mate. pendolino is by far my favourite train. i had the honour to ride it 2x, but sadly, it wasnt the time when iwas interested in trains as much as i do riíght now, so i couldnt appreciate the train. it feels like a crime that pendolino cant show its max speed here

Thanks for watching! Yes, these trains are very nice. Yes, CD owns 7 units, but mainly are operated on domestic routes, only one route is international - to Kosice in Slovakia.
@@PeteBrandy I'm planning to ride this route... Haven't been to Slovakia yet, although I'm Czech and it's about 50km or less far from my hometown.

Beautiful trip report there! Loved the view at 6:48. Prague is definitely a city I would like to do a weekend trip in (even if I can't speak the language :D)
Thanks for watching! Yes, Prague is very nice city. You must visit here.. and don't be afraid, almost all younger people here speaks English or German :-)
Dont worry about that, I am Czech, most of Czechs can English or German, on Northeast and East also Polish, and many Czechs also can speak Spanish or Italian (due to compulsory second language at schools). With older people you can talk in Russian cause communism era from year 1968 to 1989.
I can speak it fluently because I was born there and it's super nice living there and food is super amazing also rode on this triangle one of the best experiences ever

Thanks for watching! But Czech Pendolino is older and is with 2-1 seat layout in 2nd class. I'd like to try Polish pendolino too :-)
@@PeteBrandy You should really try it. You can try to take it from Kraków to Warsaw as Polish pendolino is the cheapest on this route 😉
Nice trip report on the pendolino train I really like the interiors on the train both in first and standard class I wonder what sort of meals they would serve in the dining bar also I have heard of plsen beer before
Thanks! The interior of the Pendolino was renovated a few years ago and now it looks really nice. The 2nd class in the 2 + 1 configuration is also great. On the route Prague - Ostrava, 1st class full service is also provided, including a welcome drink.

Awesome review! We also have Alstom Ferroviaria high speed train in Italy, mostly operated by "Italo" high-speed rail carrier. How many railway carriers have you in Czech republic? Greetings!
Thanks so much! Wow, nice, so Pendolino came from Italy :-) Here we have around 6 carriers in passenger transport, from the biggest: ČD, Regiojet, Leo Express and some smaller regional carriers like Arriva, GW Train, AŽD.. And there are also many cargo carriers in our country.

What about the first-class Pendolino Services? Like welcome drink (sent), coffee or tea, and the small snack?
There was no 1st class service, because I traveled during the lockdown, when CD stopped all on-board services.. But it was an opportunity to film the interior of the train with almost no people.

Trains on the line from Prague to Pilsen are limited by the maximum track speed, so the Pendolino is not much faster compared to classic loco hauled trains.

Nějaká trať, kde má cesta relativně rovný terén a bez tolika zatáček a tunelů, ve kterých je možné cestovat vyšší rychlostí?

Nice tripreport, as always! I love the pendolinos, have traveled on them many many times across the Czech Republic (last time was in 2018 though, so I definitely should again soon!) .
Why did the screen on the platform show “Františkovy Lázně” but the announcement on the train at 8:40 said that the destination will be Cheb?
Is first class on the pendolino worth it? I have always only traveled in 2nd class and it was always all I need, I think even the 2nd class service is awesome: free bottle of water, newspapers, wifi, ... considering the price (Prague - Pilsen is around 4-5€ incl. seat reservation, for students even cheaper) that is really awesome!
Very weird to see the train so empty, must have been a weird feeling traveling by train during lockdown, right? When was your trip, because masks were not mandatory back then if I understand the flyer at 9:00 correctly?
Now trains are full again, just traveled on the new Railjet connection between Berlin and Prague and it was very busy. At least almost everyone was wearing a mask during the entire journey.

The difference on the board and in the train is because it is officially the Ex6 route Prague - Cheb with a two-hour train cycle and the board show direction. Only the Pendolino trains that run on this route go to Františkovy Lázně, the others, which are called "zapadni (western) express", terminates in Cheb (and there is a difference too that some "zapadni express" trains from Pilsen don't continue to Cheb, but go to Munich through Schwandorf and Regensburg). In the past it was better, because each train had own name, but now almost every express train on the same route is operated with the same name, and it's confusing.
In Pendolino, the first class is almost identical to the second (same 2-1 layout and almost the same legroom). But after the reconstruction, the 1st class in Pendolino got new leather seats and now there are also more premium services (currently the service on the trains is renewed, so I plan to try Pendolino again on Ostrava - Prague route).
Yes, it was sad how the trains were empty, so I took advantage of it, because there was a chance to shoot the interior almost without people. Otherwise, masks were mandatory on the trains from the beginning and are still now. Only it is not officially regulation to wear masks, but it is mandatory to have covered mouth and nose (it can also be a scarf or shawl).
Fortunately, the trains are already full again. Today I rode a railjet to Vienna, the 1st class was well occupied on Prague to Brno part .. only from Brno to Vienna we drove only three in the car :-D
@Pete Brandy but it says “Cheb - kde svou jízdu ukončí”, so this means either the screen on the platform or the announcement is wrong.
Yeah, the trains on my recent trip were quite full as well. But cool that you made it to travel during lockdown, that’s definitely an experience you will never forget.

Super video! Napadlo mě, co takhle Západní Expres do Chebu? Tam jezdí Amz a to jsem na tvém kanálu ještě neviděl. Já jel z Chebu Pendolinem a do Plzně jsme přijeli z náskokem.
Díky :-) Amz jsem už dělal, ale ÖBB. Západní expres plánuju, jen čekám až se zprovozní úsek u Dalovic, protože zpátky to chci vzít Krušnohorem v celé trase :-)

@@jirivalenta6382 Amz od ÖBB má část oddílů se 4 sedadly (bývalý business) a část s 6 sedadly, u ČD jsou jako Amz138 a všechny s oddíly. Amz u RegioJetu jsou bývalé Švýcarské SBB, od ÖBB mají podobné Ampz se 4 Business oddíly a bývalá 1. třída je velkoprostor označený jako Relax.

Díky :-) ČD mají celkem 7 jednotek, tak kterou jsem jel má pořadové číslo 3 a je to ta, co havarovala u Studénky na přejezdu s kamionem.

the ride was good, its not that bad, you get water free when you are in the train a couple of hours, and theres wifi (btw if the wifi was good it would be a 9/10 because the wifi is very trash)
Rozdíl mezi třídami? Cena jízdného a potah seatů, ani se neobtěžovali dát více prostoru na nohy...
1. třída ve vlacích Pendolino mi přijde jako jedna z nejhůře řešených rekonstrukcí spolu s ARmpee829, vše jen v uspořádání se stolečky a málo místa na nohy. K tomu ještě umístění mezi 2. třídou a bistro vozem, takže je to průchoďák.. Na podzim jsem tím jel z Prahy až do Košic a musím říci, že jsem si tu cestu vůbec neužil.
4:52 které z těch dvou tlačítek to je? Já se bojím to mačkat, abych náhodou jedním z nich nepřivolal obsluhu místo zapnutí světla :D
Mám to úplně stejně, ale když jsem nedavno v Pendolinu jedno random stiskl, tak se rozsvítilo světlo :-D Ale třeba v nových ARmpee829, kde je jednička defakto stejná s novou v Pendolinech, to pro jistotu ani nesvítilo (ale ani nikdo nepřišel) :-D
@@PeteBrandy no, to nové Armpee go jezdí na Ex2 je podle mě trash. Je to divně rozvržené, místo u okna sedíš u zdi a není to tak,že půlka vozu jednička a půlka restaurace, ale restaurace je uprostřed a okolo sedadla. Podle mě nepřehledné a taková kopie Pendolina.
@@PeteBrandy ale napadlo mě, že jedno by mohlo být světlo normálně a druhý světlo víc intenzivně. Ale vůbec nevím. Ale když to zmáčknu a přivolám obsluhu, tak přijdou a "co chcete?" a já že rozsvítit :D, takže to radši nemačkám, abych nevypadal jako nějaký vesničan ve vlaku co si chce hrát :D
Zkusím to zjistit, až pojedu příště :-D
Tak jsem ozkoušel ta tlačítka lampiček, co jsou v Pendolinech a ARmpee, jedno je na zapnutí světla a druhý je poziční světýlko (takový modře svítící kroužek kolem toho druhého tlačítka), abys ve tmě tu lampičku našel, a tím tlačítkem se vypne to modré poziční světýlko
Já jel Pendolinem z Chebu a z Mariánských Lázní do Plzně to bylo tak narvaný, že lidi stáli v uličce a celý vlak byl zarezervovaný.
No z Prahy na Cheb je pendolino jako IC, takže bez povinných místenek, narozdíl od trasy Praha - Ostrava, kde je povinně místenkový a bez místenky se nemůže jet.. a to je taky důvod, proč si radši připlácím za 1. třídu..
@@PeteBrandy myslím že je to taky jeden z hlavních úkolů co má první třída plnit - aby člověk nejel narvaným, což není moc příjemné.
Hele co kdyby jsi někdy zkusil rychlík z Liberce do Pardubic než ho nahradí Arriva? Pokud nebude do té doby omezený pohyb že jo, ale to by mě zajímalo jaké bys měl nápisy ve videu. Nemyslím, že něco extra pozitivního no. Já tím jel a ti přede mnou měli otevřený okno za deště a mě pršelo do obliceje :D

tyto soupravy jsoujiž zastaralé a je na čese je poslat do šrotu a pořídit nové.
Jsou už poplatné době svého vzniku.. myslím že Švýcaři se jich už zbavili. Škoda, že s modernizací interiéru nedošlo i k nějakému faceliftu a také změně nátěru
@Martin Volf On psal myslím zastaralé.. Jinak 16 let provozu není moc, to je přibližně k polovině života.. Ale design ETR460 už je z 1. poloviny 90. let, takže se blíží k 30 rokům.. Ale nový nátěr, přpadně menší facelift by nebyl špatný, nový interiér je jinak pěkný.
@Martin Volf Aha, to jsem přehlídl.. Za mě ty vlaky jsou ve skvělém stavu, ta renovace interiéru se dělala v polovině předpokládané doby životnosti, takže minimálně 15 let od renovace budou určitě sloužit.. akorát je právě škoda, že nechali ten vnější 90kový design, který to trošku sráží.. ikdyž nevím jak by na tom vypadal Najbrt :-D

to pendolino moze ist 230 ja ked som isiel pendolinom tak sme isli vzdy max 160
230 je max. konstrukční rychlost, ale v ČR je max. povolená jen 160 Km/h
