    I bought an S2000 back in 2014, for my 40th birthday.. I wanted a 2 seat convertible to drive around for a couple years to "get it out of my system" I drove it for 2 years, and sold it at a profit.....then i kicked myself in the ass for a long time for making such a stupid decision to sell it. Then 3 years later, the guy i sold it to asked me if i wanted to buy it back because he said he bought a 911 and needed more room in the garage. I INSTANTLY jumped on his offer, and bought it back from him for 2800 dollars LESS than i sold it to him for, He only put 6000 miles on it in those 3 years and kept it totally stock. I have it back now, and I will never EVER sell it again!

    Nice one Elias. The longer I own my s2000 and also experience other cars, the more I appreciate the S2000. I see messages in the forums all the time about people wishing they hadn’t sold it, when they realize later they already had the best. I rescued an 00 AP1 was literally a shell, bought another wrecked AP1 and transplanted everything over. Was crazy how easy it was to put back together. I ended up converting it to AP2 (Bumpers headlights, interior). I ended up doing mods as well, put a kraftwerks kit on mine and got it tuned by Jeff Evans. Best thing for these cars. It doesn't add insane power (400whp) and best of all the power delivery is exactly the same as NA, pretty much brings it up to 2023 standards. I've always been a Honda guy, but there's definitely something special about s2000.

    I bought my S2000 in 2003 with only 10k (kms not miles) on the clock and have loved it ever since. Apart from oil changes, tyres and new batteries my only issues have been a split water header tank. I have replaced the chain belt tensioner, banjo bolts and valve retainers for purely precautionary reasons. Full bare metal respray 5 years ago by one of the top car painters in the country. Napa leather seats, replaced power hood with a glass window unit as plastic was starting to rip. Never raced, but sure has hit that 9000 red line a few times. I will never sell it, and refuse to drive with the hood up unless its REALLY raining.

    There are 2 of those little plastic grommets you speak of, the other is for cruise control. No need to bypass, they are about $5 at the Honda dealership. I went ahead and replaced both at the same time, just attaches up in the pedal area. Now I’m good for another 20 years or so👍

    Snap! We have the same car brother - 2000 GPW/red AP1 🤩😍 You're so right. There is NOTHING like the S2000 from Honda or any one else. It's the embodiment of the words "special" and "bespoke". There's no car that sounds like that either.
    Just a quick point on the K series: the F20 was built from the ground up unlike any other Honda 4 cylinder to be the best and for one special car only. It's the most advanced, strongest and highest revving. The K series owes it's greatness to the F series since much of the engine design from the F series was incorporated into the K making them absolutely fantastic engines. They were not blessed with FRM liners and 9000 rpm so that tells you something. They did get VTC though. As for the F20/22C reliability when it comes to boost? They'll take 20+ pounds all day with a smile 😃 When it comes to boost you really need to build the car well (all supporting mods) and most importantly tune it well. Fuel/octane quality is critical with higher boost levels in particular. As long as it's tuned well it will be virtually as reliable as stock. Turbocharging changes the character drastically and generates a lot of heat with more that could go wrong, so I prefer supercharging for this platform (not saying I wouldn't like a turbo S2K). SC maintains that iconic S2000 high revving NA character while doubling it's output for more power, more VTEC, more torque, more thrills 🤩

    • @FlyinGato
      @FlyinGato  Před 5 měsíci +1

      the engine is the number 1 reason why I love this car. It's the most developed NA engine Honda ever built. I actually don't like it when people do forced induction on the F20 motors, it's like a slap in the face of the engineers that built this motor for N/A goodness.

    • @RolanTHUNDER
      @RolanTHUNDER Před 5 měsíci

      @@FlyinGato Hey I hear you and I'd say when it comes to turbocharging that's when the NA goodness of the F20/22C is compromised. At that point it's changed indefinitely actually. Supercharging on the other hand I like because it maintains all that NA goodness while giving it the boost it needs to make double the HP hence my AP1 is supercharged

    If the S2000 had a dick, this guy would suck it… Super biased video. Here are some negatives of the S2000.
    LACK OF ROOM. In the cabin, or storage space, OR trunk space.
    Oil burning (if AP1)
    Weak Transmission
    Weak Differential
    Although great engine, very tedious and expensive to make power out of because they are maxed out from the factory (unless you boost it)
    Also, the RX8/RX7 had a higher redline so no the S2000 is not the only car to come out with a 9k rpm redline.

    • @FlyinGato
      @FlyinGato  Před 5 měsíci +3

      I'm definitely biased, but I'm biased for a reason. Let's address:
      "LACK OF ROOM. In the cabin, or storage space, OR trunk space." Agreed, it's a small car for sure. However, this is by design, this car is for driving enjoyment, a bottle of water or a cell phone only distract from this.
      "Oil burning (if AP1)" All good Honda engines burn a little oil. It's one of the reasons why they are so reliable, the engineers assume a little bit of oil consumption, and with those parameters, build the rest of the engine to be robust. B16, B18, H22A, F20C, all burn oil, and they are all gems
      "Weak transmission" - if you're adding power, yes. If your S2000 lives on the track, yes. It's no TR6060, but it is a fairly robust tranny for track use if you keep up
      "Although great engine, very tedious and expensive to make power out of because they are maxed out from the factory (unless you boost it)" - I think forced induction goes against the S2000's nature of a high revving banshee
      "Also, the RX8/RX7 had a higher redline so no the S2000 is not the only car to come out with a 9k rpm redline." you're right, I love how free revving that rotary is, I raced one in an endurance race. However, rotary engines have a TON of problems, things that the AP1 engine doesn't have.
